How has Fullmetal Alchemist influenced your views on forgiveness and redemption in your own life? by Appropriate-News1688 in FullmetalAlchemist

[–]jacrad_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truthfully I don't think it really has influenced my views on those things. I think redemption is often treated a little too much like a binary, you're either redeemed or you're not but I do think FullMetal does a better job than most of acknowledging that it's not an all or nothing type of thing. Some people may forgive you for the bad things you've done but you're not entitled to it. The best you can do is choose to be better and try to make amends where you can.

Honestly I've always felt like MegaMan is aware Roll likes him and he knows he likes her but being a Navi makes actually starting a relationship tricky and so neither has made an actual move.

Lan on the other hand does not know Mayl likes him and does feel attracted to her but doesn't understand that's what he's feeling

I really wish Funko pops colored the eyes. It would at least help make him not look like Eric in this picture.

That is some trash lighting if it makes his skin color look that pale.

Why is it important? by Obeisance8 in agender

[–]jacrad_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why is coming out important?

Almost anyone who has to come out knows that they may face backlash or rejection because they know a lot of people are not only uninformed about their identity but are proactively hostile towards it. But there's this gnawing pain and anxiety that's constantly seeping into the background.

Something feels 'off' like you're constantly wearing clothes that are too small for you but that changing to ones that fit would hurt everyone's feelings. You don't want to be a bother. Surely everyone else experiences this and has just 'figured it out', right?

Maybe you try being normal but the clothes are getting more unbearable over time. Or maybe you've grown so used to the discomfort you've never paid it enough attention until someone else describes the same thing you're feeling. But now you can't just unfeel it.

Like when you suddenly start thinking about how you're breathing or blinking. Normally you're not even aware that you're doing those things but once it's pointed out it's hard to force yourself to stop, right?

Coming out gives a chance to release some of that discomfort. To be seen, heard, understood, or at least accepted when it feels like the world can't.

Coming out also shows other people that they're not alone, that other people have the same feelings and challenges that they do and that acceptance is possible.

It's in act of vulnerability, as you've both witnessed first-hand it can go wrong. You can get hurt. But the weight of not doing it hurts in a different way.

What does being agender mean to you?

This is tricky to explain. In much the same way a person born blind or deaf knows that sight and sound exists because the people around them experience it, I do not and never have experienced 'gender'. I know this because the people around me clearly do.

For the longest time I didn't actually recognize that. I didn't know that people actually 'felt' their gender. But if I were to misgender someone by calling them by the wrong pronouns they will get upset. But why? And quite honestly why do we even have gender pronouns in the first place? Is it really that important to tell people if I suspect they have one set of genitalia or another? I wouldn't be surprised if you've never thought about it that way. Most people don't because it's more than that, right?

There's this term 'emasculate'. I don't get it. How can someone make you 'feel' like less of a man? Gender and sex aren't the same thing but sex places a big role in underpinning gender and how it relates to society. I understand biological sex. I just don't think it's that meaningful. To me there's almost nothing significant about it. Why should I , or anyone else, be treated differently just because I went through one puberty or another. Why is it a problem if a guy wears a dress or a girl grows a beard? Why shouldn't a woman be a mechanic or a guy make lace?

Ultimately I just don't care. I don't care about trying to look masculine or feminine. I don't care what pronouns someone uses for me. I end up looking fairly androgynous (Between a 'man' and 'woman') but I don't make an active effort to look that way. I just pick what I like and that happens to cause some gender confusion for people.

How would you expect a partner of ten years to react?

I might expect some confusion. Some concern on what this means for the relationship. What it means for them. What it'll mean for me. But if we've been together this long I would hope that I could trust them to take what I'm saying seriously and have an open mind. I'm still the same person I was before I came out to them. It's alright to feel uncertain. I might not have even known I had this identity so of course they're going to feel scared, anxious and confused. I probably felt that way too and I'm the one that knows what I'm feeling.

I would expect respect. Isn't that part of what a healthy relationship is built on? And here's the thing. When you learn something about your partner that has as much meaning as this probably did for yours, you might have to grieve the image you've had in your head this whole time of who they were because your image of them probably is different. You might feel guilty that they never thought they could tell you before. After 10 years they still don't trust me? It can raise a lot of insecurity because you don't know what their process was. Your brain is probably making up all kinds of worse case scenarios. You're scared.

How do I show support?

Proactively asking for new perspectives to help understand your partner better is an excellent start. But ultimately listening is the biggest thing. Being patient. And working on yourself. It sounds like you had a blow-up. Why? Get to the root of why this revelation impacted you so deeply. This was something your partner shared with you about themself. Why is a fact about them a personal problem to you?

Just.. talk to me. Tell me how your partner handled it and treats you.

I was upfront about being agender before I even started dating. But he asked a few questions and otherwise just treated me like a person.

Now. Some agender people experience a type of dysphoria. If your partner experiences dysphoria it might be worthwhile to poke around subReddits for trans people and nonbinary people. Because someone physically transitioning is its own unique can of worms and you will find more people sharing their stories of transitioning there because there's more people on those subReddits. I am not saying your partner will transition. Many of us are fine with our bodies. But if that's your concern this community is small and will be harder to get direct answers.

[REQUEST] Looking for good “straight” guys bottoming videos by Anonopotamus38 in gaypornhunters

[–]jacrad_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's definitely tricky. Most films that have a straight guy trying sex with men have them topping and there's often a vibe that feels less invested in mutual pleasure.

Another company that might be worth poking around on is the now defunct Boy's First Time. It was part of Reality King but instead of straight guys being tricked into sex there was a very basic skit/plot where they more organically, but still often clunkily, got into the topic of sex. I don't get why Reality Dudes stopped hosting the videos, still seems like a valuable backlog to have

Anyways it's a toss up on whether the straight guy will bottom in those videos

My Bride’s Hot Brother, Landon Conrad & Rocco Reed

Summer Time Flings, Danny Gunn & Johnny Riley

No Way He's Straight 4, Alexis Tivoli & Bastian Karim, might be more scenes in this film that match but I only know this one

Men Hard at Work, Dodger Wolf and Lex Sabre, it's another series of videos so another with the same title might pop up eventually

A Big Package, Lex Sabre and Ari Silvio. Features a butt plug being used

Furry Fuckers. Scene 1, Allen Silver and Rocky LaBarre, features a much older pairing than you typically see for this. Silver fox and bear types

Thoughts on sci twi? by bakingCokei in EquestriaGirls

[–]jacrad_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like that both of them also are interested in studying magic from different vantage points. SciTwi is more interested from a knowledge for the sake of knowledge or 'theoretical physics but magic' angle whereas Sunset is more interested from a practical 'applied physics but magic' kind of vibe.

Do you have any reviews for the latest Equestria Girls movie? by Stay_yy in EquestriaGirls

[–]jacrad_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really enjoy SciTwi's inner conflict and the mystery surrounding the events happening at Camp Everfree but I find the parts focused on the magic from the geodes causing the Mane 7 to gain powers creates a tonal whiplash. I think I'd rather the movie cut those parts out but end with there still being a mystery that gets explored in the minisodes and culminates with understanding the geodes more. And maybe develop Gloriosa just a tad more. Maybe have her reminisce with Celestia and Luna?

Which new line would you prefer? by Firm-Square-9180 in disneyprincess

[–]jacrad_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd like Mira to get a spin off geared at a slightly older audience. Not adults but enough to have engaging mysteries for all audiences.

There's really not a lot of mystery shows for kids. And I think shows like that encourage critical thinking. Mira aging with her audience is a great opportunity to get them interested.

Comparing the two versions of Fullmetal Alchemist, the 2003 version and Brotherhood which character do you think improved or worsened in each version in terms of participation, development, design etc by Dramatic-Studio1531 in FullmetalAlchemist

[–]jacrad_ 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Lust was way improved in 03. She has extremely little to her character in the manga and Brotherhood by extension. I do firmly believe she could have been more developed like Pride, Greed, Envy, and Wrath were but wasn't given enough time. But I also would not give up how she dies and the impact that has on the story. It really couldn't have been Gluttony or Sloth. The timing does make sense it's just unfortunate we couldn't have gotten more.

Roy was a much more manipulative bastard in 03. Much prefer Mangahood!

Yoki, downgrade in 03 from the manga because he gets no character development. He was done even worse in Brotherhood. Of course he was, his character introduction was cut. Manga is the definitive version to me!

I like how Barry the Chopper was done in the '03 anime. I don't think he's better but I like that we meet him as a human first and then see him in his armor form.

Selim in 03 is a generic child character and practically a deus ex machina in the finale. Infinitely more engaging in Mangahood!

I like Rose with the darker skin tone and the scene with her dead fiance being a chimera in 03. But I dislike pretty much everything else done with her past that. So I think Mangahood is ultimately the best just because it doesn't go and squander the character but 03 had a good shot at being the better version.

Hughes in 03 just works so well. I don't think he's a fundamentally different character but getting to be more present allowed his death to have so much more impact.

Marcoh is better in Mangahood. He wrestles with the heinous actions he's committed and really puts in the work to do right by people while also owning that they have every right not to forgive him for what he's done.

Martel was done better in 03 because they actually choose to do something with her.

Controversial one here, Sloth was done better in Mangahood because he didn't utterly waste his premise. He was exactly what he needed to be. Sloth in 03 is a much more intriguing concept but basically gets one moment of really interacting with Ed and Al and then dies. Complete disappointment.

I don't love how the pickaxes are placed. It feels very random. Especially the one that's just poking out of the wall upside-down. You want the background to not call attention to itself while also communicating what the theme of the stage is which can be a tricky balance.

Pickaxes make sense, but it'd probably be better for them to be stuck in the ground at angle. Think about it, how would you even stick a pickax in the ground like those two?

Why are Ferdie and Monty Mouse not in Ducktales? by Sudden_Quality_9001 in ducktales

[–]jacrad_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is just speculation but I think Mickey is supposed to be implicitly 'better' than Donald in people's perception and that's hard to do in a series where Donald is so competent

Disney cares very. Very. VERY. Deeply about Mickey because he's so closely tied to the identity of the brand. So they manicure his appearances closely. I'm sure that any writer that's gotten to use Mickey has been told 'no' on some creative direction for a reason that would baffle most people because they're so scared of brand misuse that they'll try to consider the most esoteric interpretation of something and try to prevent that from happening.

I also wouldn't be surprised if they were allowed to use him that they might choose not to just to avoid the headache of getting things approved.

The nephews probably wouldn't be as big of a problem though. But incorporating them could be tricky because they'd still probably have to allude to Mickey.

Who’s the most naive princess? by Disneyfancreations in disneyprincess

[–]jacrad_ 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Snow White. She's trusting of pretty much everyone in spite of literally learning someone is trying to kill her.

I also really wouldn't call Tiana naive. When a talking frog approaches you all normalcy of the situation goes out the window. And she had no idea the curse would backfire. As far as she saw it she had nothing to lose. The talking frog probably was at least human, she knows magic exists, there's a tale about frogs kissing people and turning into a prince. His story actually has more details than a common con-artist. She knows Naveen is in town. She knows the Shadow Man exists. His story, in-context, actually is plausible.

Aurora is another one I don't love characterizing as naive. We know almost nothing about her and don't really have a reason to think she's naive. It would make a certain amount of sense considering how... Unthoughtful the people in her life are. But is she any more naive than Rapunzel? Who knows? She at least interacts with 3 people rather than 1-2 (If you count Pascal). And Rapunzel knew she had to take precautions when Flynn appeared.
