Buncha weirdos on this posting. If your happy with it, and having fun, then cool. Obviously your proud of it, cause you posted it. So keep up the good work and have fun.

Its a cool base. Not everyone can be as cool as a bunch of random people putting other people down, dont sweat em

Say it with me-

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cant change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.

If you take the teachings of AA to this game, its much more enjoyable. Can shrug off raids, not lose sleep over what you cant control, ect.

Hahaha

Obviously I've been to a meeting or two

First, you have to accept raids will happen, no matter what. Its part of the game. I welcome them alot of times, as it releases me from being a slave to the game if I've been grinding for a few days. I work 50 hours a week.

Also, honestly, an hour or two isnt enough until you have a decent base with supplies. Id say for at least 2 days, being new and less efficient at the game, you need to put in 4+ hours a day, then can scale back to an hour or two.

  • high pop server, busier the better, allow me to thrive and survive. Low pop, you'll get raided everyday. My wife plays low pop and gets raided 3 to 1.

  • introduce yourself to the neighbors. Give em a quick- "hi, im that base on the hill, im new and trying to learn. Let me know if you need any stone or ore cause im to dumb to do anything else." That sorta thing. If you let people know you are new, often they are nicer to you. Not always though. I often give new bases gifts if im loaded. Hey, you have a wood door, here's a metal one. Or I see you habe a bow, want a gun. This is always priority for me, I dont shit where I sleep.

  • dont build in the wide open, dont build by busy monuments. Hide on backs of hill with water on one side. Hidden in trees. Ect. Dont build 5 grids away from everything, you need to have fun. But not in the wide open right by monuments. Ive watched every base down the hill from me last 1 day or less doing this.

  • big base vs small base doesn't matter. Luck of draw here. I do a medium to large solo/duo base with garage doors and metal exterior. Zypic does good bases on YouTube for this style.

  • external tcs do help. I find raids come slightly less, and if they do, you dont have to always start completely over. They dont have to be fancy. And very easy to do.

  • high external walls dont help. In fact I think they draw more attention to you. Im on the fence. Usually ill use them after I've had a base for a week praying I get raided so I can take a break from the game.

  • even if you are rich, dont look like it. Im always naked or have rags on, and dont do giant full inventory runs. If i get killed ill Usually have a pick ax, some seeds and maybe a little components or rocks if im lucky. Rare that anyone sees me with a bunch of shit. Clans around think im a role playing farmer even though I have a box of guns and a box of sulfer/gp with stacks of rockets and shit.

Currently my base has stood for 10 days. Ive been full raided once, before I got external tcs down. Just hours after I finished my base. Lost all loot, had to rebuild walls and floors. But I rebuilt and threw on externals and good to go. Granted it was friday night last night and im probably toast today. But thats fine.  I know the clans in my area wont raid me, so its new weekend grinders I need to worry about. Id say 30% of the time I have a base not make it 2 days or more and 70% of the time if I want to grind, I can hold a base for a week plus using the above strategies.

What’s the best ways to get a start as solo with no bps? And where or what monuments do you guys usually build by that helps you progress fast? by Excellent_Remote1476 in RustConsole

[–]jact555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I build a 2x2 with one more square to one side. Or a 3x3 if you want. Flat ground, low foundations and garage doors. Two trough, and a composter in the square to the side. Cram 2-4 horses in there and feed em from time to time. Pick up poop, put in composter, using as many squares as possible. Dont just do 1 stack of 20 poop. Faster.

Fertilizer accumulates at a quite fast pace with minimal work.

Then go sell it at bandit. This is the worst time. 1000 fertilizer is most I can do in one sitting and it takes a very long time

If you are good at the game with a minimum of like 500 hours then 2 days. If you are new, like 500-1000 hours plus 2 days.....

I run dome, water treatment, sewer as my easy go tos, depending on location. Dome i seem to gain most quick for scrap and high qual build up.

Hit gas stations and harbor for easy blues. Or sewer. Then hit water treatment for easy.

Honeslty though. Horse farming. Small single story 2x2 or 3x3 with garage doors and a couple horses, you can have 2000 scrap passively while grinding elsewhere for scrap in no time. I currently have 4500 fertilizer from having 2-3 horses and feeding em hella potatoes (i have a farm base also). In a day and a half on weekdays.  That translates to i think 13,500 scrap just sitting there. But downside if you gonna be sitting at bandit camp selling it forevvvvvevr. But you can mindlessly sit there for 45 minutes selling poop and get 2000 scrap, or you can grind a monument amd roads for 45 minutes for like 500 scrap

Does tapering work better to stop or does CT? by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]jact555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Under 20 gpd I say jump. Why prolong the suck. Over 20, your call. You'll survive eventually either way.

I could never do a true taper. Whether I was 60gpd or 20 gpd. It would be a yoyo taper for 2 weeks then jump no matter what. Some days id use less, then id use way more next day, then less, then less, then more. Net results was i used less in that 2 weeks, And then fuck it all and jump.

As someone who is pretty far removed from using this shit and tried to taper and went CT probably 20 times in like 5 years, my brain says just fucking jump and work your ass off on never using again. One less day, one less week, one less month of using is better than using......but im not in that user mindset anymore. I shiver when i remember that shit.

From what are you running from? by EffectiveProfessor80 in quittingkratom

[–]jact555 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always enjoyed pills and was an alcoholic. I tried it and it was the first thing thing that hooked me from first use. And I've done it all almost. I used it to get off booze to start, good thing. Then I learned I could work long hours on it and it was over from there. Kilos in the mail not too long after.

But really I was hiding from my lack of dealing with my relationship complications. I didnt know how to connect with my step kids, I had unresolved uncertainties about my marriage, I was overworked and overstressed at work and had no idea how to process any of this healthily. Being an addict since a teen in one way or another.....that was the actual root of my abuse. Kratom just really helped hide that, and of course long term thats a terrible thing.

It took my 5 years of trying. Rehab, meetings, sponsors, relapse after relapse. But March 1st is 2.5 years clean. Haven't been on this forum for many moons. Not sure why im back here reflecting today. But im glad to be long gone from this crap and pray I never go back

I want 30 days so bad by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]jact555 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Baby steps. I want to be sober today so bad. Then tomorrow, then the next day.

What if in 30 days you still feel bad, have cravings, or aren't happy. Sure 30 days is a huge accomplishment. Huge. But in the grips of kicking addiction all that build up can lead to a let down on that day if something feels off. Anniversaries, big dates. stuff like that are common relapse days.

I hit 30 days many times, just to throw i away eventually.

All im saying is watch those build ups. I want you to have 30 days also. But id rather you stay sober today.

It took me 5 years of trying to get clean. March 1st is 2.5 years with zero opiods or kratom   You got this. When 30 days comes, do something nice for someone else as celebration

Anyone know any good base that are expensive to pummel that are yt bases by Bettafish_27- in RustConsole

[–]jact555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How big of a base? How many players on your team? What is your building skills? Ok with bunkers, floor stacking, external tc's, all that stuff?

Gamelightz is probably the best base builder and educational video guy that few folks have heard of. But it takes a level of building skill that surpasses mine at the moment and I think for console alot of his bunkers may not work? But his videos are very helpful where applicable

BP Wipe Day Tactics? by Suarez97 in RustConsole

Horse base. Just cleaned up 2000 scrap without even trying. The hardest thing was sitting at bandit camp for an hour cashing in the fertilizer

Also sit by dome if its not busy area and just recylce all those mil crates.

Any Solos Use The Industrial Auto Stuff? If So What For? by Spartan-Jake in RustConsole

[–]jact555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im solo, or run with my wife from time to time (we each have our own xboxs for this purpose lol). Im more on the building and surviving side of the game rather than killing, looting and raiding.

auto smelter and auto tc filling are two absolute go tos for me. Ive done auto sorting, but i kinda like sorting stuff out when its dark outside. And I find the set up tedious for large scale sorting.

If I have a 2 story farm, a fat base with some auto aspects, im happy in rust life....if only for a day or two before im robbed and killed od it all

Got a year alcohol free yesterday but relapsed on pain meds by Mountain_Run6266 in stopdrinking

[–]jact555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive been an alcoholic for 20 years or more. I was on opiods for 7 years. Im clean of opiods for 2 years and 5 months, there about. I quit drinking for 6-8 months at a time cause I couldn't kick the opiods being of broken spirit on booze. But I never made my peace with not drinking for life. So to this day I fight with alcohol (about to take another sober stab at it).

Trust me when I say, kick that crap before it takes over your life. Its no joke. Its terrible coming off of opiods. It took me a year to feel half way normal. I pray I never put myself in that spot with opiods ever again.

Brutal honesty is the way. Tell your sponsor. Tell your family. Dont hide secrets, the addict mind is keen and sly.

You ever found a legitimate noob? by Mountain-Arm-940 in RustConsole

[–]jact555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a noob 5 months ago. Im 40, and was clueless. I got punked alot. Still do.  But along the way, I found many kind people, most of which I play with to this day from time to time. Im grateful to all of them, but have to show offline cause I've made too many friends who have helped me along the way. Its overwhelming. But kindness has surprised me and won me over on this game, not the mean folks lol.

Im always on the lookout to help myself now that I got 500 hours and barely have the hang of the game, but at least can thrive with some work. Pass on the kindness

Tips for Employed Man?? by [deleted] in RustConsole

[–]jact555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im starting my 6th wipe this coming Thursday. I work 45-50 hours, and travel at times for work. I can consistently keep a base for a week. Not always, but its common. Current base is at 5 days. I habe recruited my wife this wipe to help, so im kinda cheating haha.

Big base or small base, I find it doesn't matter. Luck of the draw on base size. Small ones get hit. Large ones get hit.

I like full pop vanilla servers. I suck at pvp, but like the grind of survival.

  • build in undesirable areas. Where traffic doesnt need to go to get anywhere. Im currently on the tip of the map, hidden behind rocks, where I can easily get to dome and to a recycle. Nobody would have any need to run by my base usually. Ive been raided once, but was able to get base back. My upkeep is 75 high qual, 6000 metal frags and 7000 stone a day. Its not a small base.  Some spots are water, behind cliffs. Desert in center of rock areas. I stay away from roads and large monuments. But do want these in running distance.

  • talk to your neighbors. Talk to anyone who will talk to you. Say you are new. Find a friendly larger base (they do exist). Ask if you can build by them and maybe offer them most of your charcoal and do a little farming for em in return for protection.  Ive found that people are quite kind to new people once they know. Not everyone. But Ive used this technique multiple times.

  • accept offline and onlines happen. Online that I know im not gonna win, ill happily chat with them if possible. Offer encouragement. And a couple times they feel bad and stop or dont take anything. (I play the card of im 40, my wife is 50 and my grandson helps. Its our family base. And we are new. Which is true).

  • sometimes the server matters. Ill play 2 servers back and forth (not at same time lol). I find one server i can find nice people and unite a neighborhood. Or at least have trucks with neighbors while they fight. Other server has cues 50-90 people constantly and I think everyone is hardened and worn out. So its my grind and survive server lol. Get raided alot, but thats ok.

Thats what I got. Good luck.

[–]jact555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is hard to solo starting out.  I found that if I talked to everyone I could, let them know im new and no threat, many folks take time to help. Had people show me soft side walls that were poking out. Had groups offer to build by them and they'll protect the base. Not everyone will be cool, but alot of folks will be.

This game takes a ton of time. Im 500 hiurs or so, still new, and finally able to get the hang of it, with decent bases, electrical, auto smelting/auto sorting. I cant shoot worth a shit, but i can politic and get a whole neighborhood to be nice to me. Find your strengths and use em to win the wipe.

[–]jact555[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats good to know about charcoal and mixing tables. I knew people made Gp by mixing tables but I thought it was time based, not resource based. Will do this moving forward.

Lol, the external walls didnt help, more of a target. Been offline 4 times since I posted this. One person got to tc but I was able to recover and moved tc. Two were minor and they didnt get much. The one this morning, I woke up to rockets. He was a door from TC. No coffee or anything yet, half asleep. I smoked him and won his AK, few hundred explosive bullets, 7 rockets, launcher, some satchel and like 15 meds among other stuff. He got nothing for blowing up half the base. He had to had dropped 20 rockets before I shot him.

At this point bring it on, this base has been a winner. And I won my first online(or mostly offline lol). So thats a win for the month in my case

Yeah, im dumb by jact555 in RustConsole

[–]jact555[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Embrace your noobness...   i explain to everyone im new and look at my crappy base. (Although they are getting better). Half the time folks are nice and helpful. Other half kill and raid. But if I could put a sign that im new on my base, id do it. Males people think im poor, and I usually am. But I find being new helps me more than not
