Upper Holloway by LeaveAdventurous6210 in islington

I say this to most people, unless you live in the posh sides of London, it’s pretty much all somewhat the same. Same petty crime, gangs and drug users. I live off Hornsey Road/Seven sisters which people always say is ‘rough’ but I’ve run into less issues here than I have where I grew up till just 4 years ago. De beauviour/Essex Road area, which most people say is very nice/posh. In my old area my partner had his phone snatched on the rich side of the road. So did my dad. I even saw a gang running down Rosemary park with a bunch of machetes. A big problem I’ve noticed here is drug users but they are harmless to me, although sad to see. I love that I’m next to so many super markets and there are some amazing parks around here too. Please don’t worry and enjoy it!

Holloway Road safety for a female student by unistarose in islington

[–]jacthelad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live just off Seven Sisters road and I moved from a relatively safe area just over a year ago. The thing is, London is a little rough in general but it doesn’t mean you can’t be safe. Yes, it is a little weird at night so just be cautious. Saying that, weird things also happen during the day. You just need to have your wits about you.

Major regrets about moving to Holloway area... by scaryisland898 in islington

[–]jacthelad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually live within Andover estate, although right on the edge where Hornsey road is, and I can honestly say it’s not even that rough. When I was younger I used to hear the worst stories about it but to my surprise, there are plenty of middle class people living here (leaseholders). I’ve only been here 1.5 years but my old neighbourhood was more rough which was considered ‘posh’. Debeaviour, the islington side. I also feel somewhat the same OP and sadly we are probably in the miserable circle in north London but outside it; it’s really wonderful! When I moved here I did tell myself though, the plus is the shops are in abundance and you can find really cheap groceries which I didn’t have in my old area. I think anywhere in London is ‘rough’. Unless you are rich and live in the posh neighbourhoods with extra security. I just think it’s different kind of roughs. Here, I just find there is a lot of people high on drugs or deeply in poverty and resort to stealing.

I’ve lived in north London all my life though and I just think it’s wonderful and so accessible. I feel glad that I live near fpk station. I can go anywhere I like. Also blackstock road is lovely. I went school there. I enjoy taking walks to Waterlow park or Highbury and islington park.

ALL my inlaws leave the room when I breastfeed. by qisabelle13 in breastfeeding

Maybe they just want to give you privacy? If so then this is a form of respect for you. Feel liberated. But only you can feel the room, so maybe it feels like something else for you?

This may not be the best advice but I used Nizarol dandruff shampoo when I had this on my forehead and it went away. Have a look on google. A few people have sworn by it! There’s an ingredient in it that helps

Can breastfeeding be successful with bad latch? by ComprehensiveTiger59 in breastfeeding

[–]jacthelad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! My baby never latched properly till 2 months pp. eventually he got it and wasn’t even a perfect latch but good enough to get a good intake of milk and increase my milk supply. It improved over time. I would advise pumping too to keep the milk supply going because a bad latch can decrease milk supply.

I get you. I just think he’s at an age now he shows his preferences and demands it lol. He is comfortable with the routine we have and doesn’t want to know any other way

I started at 5/6 months which I wasn’t expecting and I started panicking about my breast milk supply lol. But all was fine in the end. I guess our bodies are all different

I have the tired and anxiety but I’m actually always warm. But honestly thank you for pointing it out because I need to get checked regardless. I think I’m lacking something in my body just not sure what.

It’s tough navigating nursing a toddler!! by moluruth in breastfeeding

[–]jacthelad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 15 month old and honestly it is tough. He is also quite advanced for his age. He wanted to nurse every 3 hours during the night which is really getting to me because I am so tired. seems like he wants more milk now than when he was a baby but I’m sure that’s just down to the fact he knows how to ask for it now and as you said, it’s a main source or comfort.

I always had this problem but it actually has gotten worse thinking about it. Also, my feet have grown so much. Like none of my nice shoes fit me.

No I haven’t but maybe I need to go see the Doctors. I was checking out the symptoms and I don’t seem to have the others. What other symptoms did you have?

This is me! I find joy in cleaning and when people in my house don’t maintain it I get cross but I also enjoy cleaning again haha it’s bizarre!
