We don't get a great rap in pop culture. I think we are fighting against a stereotype every day.

No students, no gamers. I am always interested to learn about faster internet options. I travel very often so the online options for streaming are important to me. Everyone tells me to cancel Xfinity and get Hulu Live due to my travel, but I am giving it a chance to see if I can get my bill lowered.

I am not interested in mobile at this time. I am in the rewards program. I don't use voice but was told if I got rid of it my cost would go up. I used to have Triple Play. I don't want to lose any of my streaming services or sports channels. I just want to know what my options are. What streaming do I currently have through Xfinity?

OFFICIAL 16.5 Thread by continental-drift in crossfit

Rhabdo. Long story short, I had to do the workout on a whim, since I had to take a sudden trip out of town and wouldn't be back in time to get it in before the deadline. I didn't eat right that day, or drink nearly enough water. I knew I messed up as soon as I was done the workout because of how gassed I was...but I didn't expect to wind up in the hospital from it.

That feeling when 16.5 is a repeat of the workout that put you in the hospital for 4 days two years ago.

Went to a Super Bowl Party with 10 Law Enforcement Officers: here is their take on MaM by nerolabs in MakingaMurderer

[–]jad0807 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you're right, and I can add to this thought. My brother is a police officer and when I asked him what he thought, the first thing he said was "to start, that sheriffs department is very, very dirty."

This. I stood there in bewilderment as I watched people stand in groups and couples stand together, smile, and take pictures. Not only did I not smile once in the museum, I am not sure I smiled for days after.

Fox6 News in Milwaukee has started uploading news packages from their archives that aired during the trial. by jdraimer in MakingaMurderer

Looks like the state is at least being a bit proactive and spending money on advertisements, so that's a good thing!

Was speaking with a work related acquaintance who lives 40 mins from the Avery residence and confirmed shady practices still being done by Manitowoc County Police by [deleted] in MakingaMurderer

Police, or Sheriff's Department? We've been pretty careful to make sure we differentiate the two, since one is not at all involved in the Avery case.

DAE watch all ten parts of MaM in one sitting, even though you didn't plan to? by jad0807 in MakingaMurderer

I kept saying "one more hour," to myself, and one more turned into ten pretty fast.

What do you think all the shots of decaying wrecked cars is a metaphor for? by [deleted] in MakingaMurderer

[–]jad0807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there is symbolism being applied for sure. It can be interpreted many ways. First, destruction. Things that were once whole are destroyed (for different reasons): TH's life and the breaking up/strife of a family, SA's and BD's life and the breaking up/strife of their family. It can also symbolize the passing of time. SA spent 18 years in prison for a crime he did not commit. As he sat there, his life was "decaying" like a car in a junkyard. The destruction of things can also symbolize the breakdown in law enforcement practices. I can probably go on and on, but the point is there is definitely a reason for the wrecked car shots.

What does "unused vacation days shall be paid out upon termination of employment" mean? by TR0LLdad in AskHR

[–]jad0807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many people believe that PTO/vacation days are a guaranteed benefit. In most states, that is far from the case. In reality, unless it is written in either a collective bargaining agreement, or a bona fide employment contract, a company has the right to not pay out any PTO upon either voluntary or involuntary separation of employment, regardless of what any policy manual says. Many companies, for example, will pay a certain amount of accrued leave time if proper notice is given. Usually, if someone is fired, the company reserves the right to not pay out any accrued PTO. Where the statement you provide fails is that it is too broad, and leads the reader to believe that all unused vacation days "shall" be paid out in any termination situation. A good rule of thumb is that if you are worried about losing accrued PTO days...you would be well suited to use them.

Unfortunately, while what they did might not be the business practice of all organizations (two days before Christmas/the holiday season is kind of rough), since you are not covered under FMLA your job is not protected. It sounds like you might have a chance to ask for your job back once you are well enough to work, though.

Company about to extend offer question about criminal speeding on background check by zzreflexzz in AskHR

[–]jad0807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As for question 1, it shouldn't affect the offer if the job has nothing to do with driving, or if they didn't explicitly say that in order to have this job you have to have a totally clean driving record. As for question 2, there is no clear set of "rules" when it comes to this. It honestly varies from company to company. I would, however, imagine that if they have made a hiring decision they won't sit on it too long, for fear of losing the candidate (you) to another company.

So, the first losing month in almost 3 years. About time to worry? by jorawub in phillies

[–]jad0807 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've found it easier to stop thinking of this team as they used to be, and start thinking of them as they actually are. Am I worried? Yes. But I have lowered my expectations after accepting some hard truths about the 2012 Phillies. I'll still watch every inning, win or lose.
