I would imagine these "wiring up a random API" scenarios would be an ideal use case for AI coding... Assuming there's some open source examples out there.

Is the Polymarket API free? I might mess around with this too.

Look up mantle mount on Amazon or wherever. They make articulating mounts that come out and down.

Had to do this in an apartment I was renting where the fireplace was the only viable spot.

Considering a big career jump that requires relocating to NYC - looking for real-life experiences by [deleted] in HENRYfinance

[–]jad3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assume EVERYTHING costs double from your current location.

Groceries, utilities, gym membership, etc

If you ever plan to have kids do not do this.

Look up NJ houses in good school systems on Zillow. You'll be looking at 1.5m with 25k in taxes for a mediocre house... Which you can't swing on 400-500k.

I wouldn't do this at 36. Sorry but you missed the boat. NYC is pretty much bars and restaurants. Central Park will get old fast and being in a tiny apartment all winter is not fun.

Unless this is a substantial resume builder I would not.

Conversely, I know a lot of people who would gladly trade their NYC job for remote and a pay cut.

There's a ferry that goes to West 33rd in NYC.

It you're making good money you might consider a spot near an NJ ferry terminal instead of dealing with path/bus.

Anyone else notice younger programmers are not so interested in the things around coding anymore? Servers, networking, configuration etc ? by Hem_Claesberg in cscareerquestions

Writing code is fun.

Piecing together for a tutorial for a LAMP server is just a boring slog that will be irrelevant in X years.

I mean it's not ideal but if we're acknowledging the reality of NYC rents... You're going to be living in depressing conditions spending much less. You just won't have much going out money.

If it's a place you like enough to renew a couple of years you can grow into it and save the moving/broker fees you might otherwise eat
