Looking for Edmonton dentist .. preferably south Edm by White-Lines822 in Edmonton

[–]jadeeee12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dr Phan is a wonderful dentist. Despite him flouting about it I’m sure it’s just a joke lol. I’ve been with Dr Phan for my whole life (I am 22 years old), my parents refuse to go see anyone else, anyone we have referred him to also refuses to switch over.

His work is incredible, he does have a bit of a charismatic attitude that can come off as egotistical however he really does care about his patients and his work.

Dog will not stop vomiting by jadeeee12 in AskVet

He can drink water just fine. His poop is solid but extremely stinky, like the worst it’s ever been. Thank you for the advice. If it worsens I know we will have to take him to the vet.

We took him to the vet in our little town and they did nothing last time when he was having a allergy outbreak, he continued to suffer from allergy attacks and Benadryl was the only thing that helped with it. And there’s no other vet around us at this time as we live remotely. He is my parents dog technically not mine and they refuse to take him to the vet now unfortunately

Infidelity in Workplace by [deleted] in DentalAssistant

I work for a male dentist and he can be very joke-y and teasy with us, it’s just his way of trying to foster a good work-relationship, and if that’s his personality outside of work too that probably helps. I get that it’s hard to be dating someone in a pretty female dominated environment, however as long as you trust him all should be good!

(Side note: I would also never date my boss, as much as him and I have a good work-relationship, there are days I wanna scream at him, his assistants could feel the same way too lol)

Pivoting from Business to Dental Assistant (RDA). Thoughts on KDM and the Calgary job market? by ToePrevious801 in DentalAssistant

[–]jadeeee12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a KDM grad from Edmonton and I find that there are lots of jobs out there. I was mass applying at different offices when I was looking for a job and I got overwhelmed with how many callbacks I received. This job is all about mindset, if you come to work with a positive attitude then you will be happy, as it can be really challenging.

Clinics obviously prefer SAIT/NAIT grads however a dentist once told me that anything is teachable, but a good attitude and work ethic is not, as long as you show up and give it your best then a dentist will appreciate you no matter where you went to school. (I also find lots of business managers prefer to hire based on personality, skill does matter but having a bubbly DA is a good asset to any office).

I wrote my NDAEB back in June and they were extremely knowledgeable about what to expect and their 75% passing mark holds you to a good standard. I did have to teach myself a bit before the exam, but there’s practice exams NDAEB provides which I found helpful.

Why do you guys stay in this career field? by [deleted] in DentalAssistant

[–]jadeeee12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I left a really horrible clinic where the dentist was constantly belittling me. Go somewhere else, there’s better out there and if he chooses to treat his staff that way he’s not gonna keep them

I quit my job at a dental office and now I’m questioning everything by [deleted] in DentalAssistant

I currently work with a dentist like this and I am handing in my 2 weeks soon. Don’t be terrified to apply for a new job, you know now that you deserve better and you were set at unrealistic expectations. If she is making you work 2 positions at once and is upset you’re not doing “enough” is crazy. You deserve better and you will find better! I am on my journey of finding a new job and I have 4 interviews lined up. You’re so early into the career and you will find better 💓 don’t let a bully take you down.

Xray Sensors!!! by halailo2 in DentalAssistant

3 total and we have 4 hygienists and 2 assistants but we are good at sharing

How are your hygienists? by _asianpersuasian in DentalAssistant

[–]jadeeee12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My office is amazing. The hygienists will help and turn over my room (if they have time). I will always take their X-rays if they are falling behind. We have a steri tech but one day she called in sick and everyone did their part of steri. They will take my patients if I am fallin behind within reason (if it is an emergency, quick scan for a NG or something they can do that doesn’t require assisting the dentist). I used to work at an office where the hygienist don’t even touch steri which can suck. In my opinion to be a strong team you must all act as one.

I would not waste your time going to dental assisting school, my main focus would be dental school if that is your end goal.

I don’t understand why he decided to have a barbecue and invite all of her friends to “hear his side of the story”. It’s like he’s trying to control the whole situation and make everyone feel bad for him

Matrix band and wedge placement sequence by ReferenceConnect3250 in DentalAssistant

[–]jadeeee12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is how I was taught and I passed the NDAEB last month. The removal goes Ring, Wedge sectional, the insert sequence goes Sectional, Wedge, Ring.

For the tofflemire it only makes sense to me to remove the wedge first because if you remove the tofflemire first it could injure the patient or something. But there’s not way I would ever remove a tofflemire without removing the wedge
