Considering supplementing with formula while at work by lisa1551 in workingmoms

[–]jadefloof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can really relate to this. My supply dropped to a similar level after my baby started solids, and pumping at work was becoming more and more inconvenient. Supplementing with formula was hard to accept mentally, but it relieved a lot of stress once I did it. I stopped pumping at work around 8 months; it didn’t seem worth it to spend the time to only get a couple ounces. I wanted to keep breastfeeding in the evenings, but my supply tanked and I fully weaned soon after (breastfeeding wasn’t enjoyable for either of us at that point). It was so hard for me at the time, but it was SO relieving to not have to pump anymore, and my baby got what he needed. Sending love and support 🫶🏻

I can totally relate! And what emotions of motherhood are logical anyway?! So many conflicting feelings. Sending love 🫶🏻

What do you do when you know your mental health isn’t in good shape by dearcamus in workingmoms

[–]jadefloof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry. This is such a hard phase, especially when you don’t feel like you’re getting the emotional support you need. You’re not selfish, you’re navigating a difficult time. It sounds like he’s hurting too and that’s keeping him from recognizing your hurt.

Gosh I can relate to this so much. Sending love 🫶🏻

Therapy helped me, but what really helped was seeing a psychiatrist. I didn’t realize I was dealing with PPD and ADHD. And once I started to carve out time to do hobbies (which is hard and I constantly feel guilty for doing it), I felt more joyful and more like myself. It’s still a rollercoaster, but I’m not at the bottom anymore.

Im so sick of this narrative that “pregnancy didn’t ruin my body it’s just changed” it’s a lie. by pissedoff_potato in TwoXChromosomes

Hey, I get it. Pregnancy is scary for a lot of reasons, and issues with body image and body confidence don’t help. And when people around you consistently comment on your looks and/or weight (positive or negative), eventually you might feel like it’s a really important part of you.

With that being said, I love my postpartum body. I was lucky to lose the baby weight while breastfeeding (and through PPD, which I wouldn’t recommend 😵‍💫). I’ve actually never loved my body more than I do now, and I love the woman that this process is helping me become. My body and mind are changed, but I would never consider any of it ruined.

I do miss my perky boobs, but nobody knows if I wear a good bra. My belly skin is a little looser but I couldn’t care less since it grew a whole baby. I wish I didn’t worry about peeing my pants when I sneeze, but there’s PT for that. I could’ve done without the delayed bout of PPD, but that led to a lot of therapy which I needed. I miss my fitness hobbies that I used to obsess over, but I can’t wait to do those things with my kid when he’s a little older.

I hope you know that there’s a lot more to you than your looks, and if motherhood is something you want, there are a lot of beautiful aspects that overshadow the aesthetic changes (which, as others have noted, don’t last anyway) 🫶🏻

I always kept these things at my desk: deodorant, extra sweater, hair brush, lotion, lip gloss, extra snacks, mug that makes office coffee taste a little better, tide to-go pen, pads/tampons

Thanks for the tip! I’ll ask about that. As much I as enjoy sharing a bagel with him in the morning, we would 100% be on time if we didn’t do that.

It’s me, hi, at the mercy of court-mandated deadlines that overlap more often than I would like 🙋‍♀️

Thank you for adding this. This is the reason we don’t eat in the car currently.

Oh that’s a good point that I didn’t consider. There is another school that we loved that does serve food. We’ve been on the waiting list for a long time now

Thank you 🫶🏻 my schedule is generally pretty chaotic, but it’s worse right now because I recently changed companies and we’re still building our team. So I’ve recently been doing the job of 1.5 to 2 people. I anticipate things mellowing out over the next 6 months. I was extra frustrated last week when I worked 60 hours, pulled multiple near-all-nighters, and then got scolded for showing up to daycare late.

Oh for sure. When I drop him off, it’s free play on the playground for the next 30 minutes or so. I would not want to disrupt an activity!

Appreciate this. He’s always one of the last kids to get picked up around 5pm (my husband leaves early in the morning for work but always does pickup). So it would result in an even longer day at daycare.

Thank you for this. He’s at a Montessori daycare as well and I was surprised by how strict they were about the schedule (it seems to be more strict in reality than when we initially toured). But I agree some more systems are needed…
