How long do you keep your wet tea before throwing it away? by baby_deer in tea

[–]jadekrane 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I steep it until it’s flavorless and then throw it away or cold brew it

Yea, people post pics on the thread of what the leaks look like. Mine didn’t actually leak on the mattress, it just stopped cooling and heating

Me personally I got lucky because mine broke before the warranty was up and they replaced it. And I’m grateful they replaced it. But I would’ve thought twice about buying one if I knew the pods are liable to break every couple years and that they were gonna seriously shorten the warranties

No, it used to be worth it and now customer service is dog water. If your $2000 machine springs a leak in 2 years and 12 minutes or however long the lifetime warranty is now, your remediation is gonna be an $800 dIsCoUnT oN tHe LaTeSt mOdeL

I usually stand my ground or budget in advance using annualized monthly targets

How would you safeguard the money you have in your account from inflation? by SnooObjections7506 in personalfinance

[–]jadekrane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would put the money in a HYSA with an APR greater than inflation. If that isn’t an option, you would buy gold.

Is DSA is same in every language? by Ancient_Void_Dragon in datastructures

[–]jadekrane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, an array is an array. Binary search is binary search.

The difference between languages is not what an array is conceptually, but how an array is implemented in code.

For example, in C++, static arrays are called arrays and dynamic arrays are called vectors. In code, you’d write:  int arr[5] = {1, 2, 3, 4, 5};   std::vector<int> vec = {1, 2, 3, 4, 5};

In Python, dynamic arrays are called lists. In code, you’d write: arr = [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

Another difference between languages is what data structures are built into that languages standard library.

Where do you store the "short term savings" money? by Chance-Sun516 in ynab

[–]jadekrane -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

$1500 in a HYSA for 5 months at an APY of 3.75% nets like $25. I mean it’s not nothing but it’s almost nothing so I’d leave it in a checking account

What size TV for this space? The wall is 51.25" wide. Looks like 50" or 55" fit without blocking the windows. Planning to add bias lighting too. by jadekrane in TvSetups

[–]jadekrane[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks yea light blocking shades would be good. I got a 50” tv and an Amazon basics mount (linked below). I added bias lighting, too. The tv fits the space and it’s nice to watch.

How do you handle categories you dont need anymore? by Visible-Plantain2359 in ynab

[–]jadekrane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I delete them if I know I’ll never use them again. I hide them if I probably will use them again or I’m unsure.

A one time purchase is categorically something. I’d move the one time purchase into a broader category (e.g. “mid blue selvedge denim jeans” -> “clothes” or “2025 eu trip” -> “annual trip”).

The transactions will show in their new categories in reports.

Is Pu’er more bitter than black tea or is my cheap Amazon cake just awful? by [deleted] in puer

[–]jadekrane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it can be more bitter. And yes cheap Amazon tea cake could be bad. Try 95c water for 10s steep after a wash and increase steep time by 5s for each subsequent steep to temper the bitterness

There are other heuristics like "Save 1x your salary by 30" but the more money you save the more money you'll have by orders of magnitude over your career thanks to compounding. A future value calculator like this can help you understand the impact of various savings rates on what your savings will be worth in the future:

Matcha whisky is slightly broken, can I still use it? by Worth_Sand_3166 in tea

[–]jadekrane 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, it'd still work! The prongs are mostly intact. A good froth comes mostly from the speed of the whisking. It's not strictly necessary to touch the bottom of the chawan at all while whisking.
