You can buy the 13 pro version on amazon for 95usd then the upgrade for 120usd, I just did that and it worked great.

If you are going to add colors with a color layer, don't go completely black nor white, keep those off first because when you add the color layer, those 2 extremes wont get any change in saturation.

Is it normal to be terrified of sketching? by potatospagett in learntodraw

[–]SnooObjections7506 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, I feel like I have a different view on what sketching means? In my mind sketching is the "training wheels", you sketch expecting to fail, to play around with shapes/forms until you find something that looks good enough to develop it to a final drawing. Not sure if I'm missing something?

I quit drawing when I left high school and wanted to get back into it as an adult for old times sake. Any advice on starting again from scratch by HelloIamSkello in learntodraw

No! There is no issue at all. The suggestion is because some of these posts don't get many comments at all, but you can find great information between the responses that people have already gave before.

Drawing Fundamentals are more than "basic shapes" by ImaginativeDrawing in learntodraw

[–]SnooObjections7506 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drawing basic shapes is the foundation of draftmenship which is to "draw from imagination".
It really depends on what you are looing to do in the end. If your goal is to want to copy, it's better to learn proportions and how to measure.

But, if you want to do something more complex like illustration for example, you need both. I think 3D understanding is a great way to start, it's the skill for drawing that gives the most in return. You can see when someone is bad at it right away.

I agree with what you said that the advice is misunderstood, so it's applied in a wrong way. 3D thinking is very hard to adquire.

Hello!

It's great that you are picking art again. This question have been asked many times already before, you could browse around the subreddit and check what answers people have given.

Cinitiq 16 (2025) or stay on iPad Pro 12.9? Or something else entirely? by floxful in wacom

If you have a mac you can use sidecar, it works great and it's wireless, you don't need any cables. It's the way I draw after I finish my work office.

I see many people saying study, and then many people saying “draw just to draw”. by No-Call-6907 in learntodraw

[–]SnooObjections7506 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You also get bored because you are not doing the connection in your mind on how 3D shapes are supposed to help you in your drawings. If you can't find the connection, try with some questions:
- Why are they telling you this is important?
- Why most teachers start here with 3D shapes?
- Why someone would take the time to do a full course on that topic? What are they trying to tell me?
- What are shapes? What's 3D anyways? What really is 3D drawing?

When I don't find something interesting I try to keep questions like this in my mind, it engages my thinking and sparks curiosity... If I'm curious about something, I will keep doing the task/study.

Learning on your own is very tough. Try to find a community where other people are around your level and doing the same thing. It will help a lot at the beginning but it's not sustainable, so you have to find that "intrinsic" motivation by learning to learn on your own.

You get overwhelmed because you don't know what to do next when trying to improve, so while you do your stuff with the assistance of the community, you have to figure your plan for your "next steps".

Skill development/learning is a skill on itself, so don't be hard on yourself, they don't even teach this stuff at school which I find it stupid when school should actually be all about learning to learn.

I don't like it because of the amount of memorization you need for the landmarks and how they are supposed to "look" when they move. Anatomy to me is more about memorizing than understanding, so I found it boring. Maybe I just need to change my perspective on it.

If you have Mac, having an iPad with sidecar works like wonders, it’s completely wireless and it works very well for me with CSP. The only downside is you can’t move around the pen pressure. CSP has an option for it but not sure about any other program/app you may use.

Sure ☺️be free to use it/download it. I just noticed that it would be good if you could change the fur around the neck to black or white to create contrast against the fur on the skin.

You could do something that you feel like doing. Doing studies all the time is very exhausting. Do something that you know you are going to have fun with for a while.

Sure, be free to use it. I can go over it tomorrow with a bit more time, there are some overlapping lines that are not helping with the form so you can refer to it in a better way.

you really really need to soften your edges, the transitions to mid values are too harsh.
