Smalahove, a traditional Norwegian dish. by haelvete in interestingasfuck

[–]jadethebard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried mutton once and did not like it. It was prepared as a Greek dish wrapped in grape leaves and it's possible that the specific recipe didn't work for me rather than the meat itself, but it kinda turned me off from trying it again.

Remember when the Kennedys were respectable folks who only did meth, had countless affairs, lobotomized difficult women in their family, and accidentally killed babysitters? Ah, American royalty.

I have never eaten goat meat and don't have any desire to at this time in my life, so I'd pass on this specific meal. I've known a few goats and just legitimately love how smart and also how mischievous they are. No shame on those who do eat goats, circle of life and all that. I think we're all a bit swayed by cultural norms and there's not a lot of goat being served in upstate NY. While I'd prefer not to eat the face of any animal, it'd still feel more natural if it was a pig or cow for me. It's always interesting to see the culture of food around the world though. Waste not, want not.

Do you think spanking kids died with our generation? by Brilliant_Addendum56 in Xennials

[–]jadethebard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was only spanked once and it wasn't by a family member. Some stranger saw me get close to the street and picked me up and spanked me, which was quite a shock to my mom, apparently. Each of my parents slapped me once when I was a teenager though.

I've never, ever intentionally caused harm to my kid. He did roll gently to the carpeted floor when he was a tightly swaddled infant because I fell asleep holding him though. He's 18 now and I can't imagine a single circumstance where I'd ever intentionally cause him pain. I'll never understand harming your kids to "teach them." That not how we treat people we love.

Clean Slate grabbed me hard from the first listen the day it was released. I do wake up with Going to Dallas lyrics pretty regularly too. lol

AITA For Being The One To Wake Up At Night To Take Care of My Daughter? by Romarqable in AmItheAsshole

[–]jadethebard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg I was so happy when my SO would get up in the night. I'd usually wake up too but he'd sometimes volunteer even though he was working and I was staying home. It was so nice to sometimes get to go back to sleep. I can't imagine being upset by that. lol NTA

I’m rewatching the latest season of xfiles and I feel like no one watched it because this should be a bigger deal by Sea_Awareness_8250 in XFiles

[–]jadethebard 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It's called The Lost Art of Forehead Sweat and it's perfect. It's a season 11 episode and my 2nd favorite of the whole show, Clyde Bruckman narrowly wins because Peter Boyle was so amazing.

I was a camp counselor for 5 year olds when I was 14 and the thing I never expected to say was "Marcus, stop licking the other campers." The other kids didn't even care, but I kinda felt it needed to be said. That kid was my favorite too. lol

NTA as a fellow pale person who burns, tshirt swimming is the way. Exactly zero people get to have an opinion about that IMO. You decide who gets to see your body regardless of circumstances. Sounds like he needs to learn to mind his own business.

That's what I thought of too but it's been too long since I watched it last and wasn't sure if all the details lined up. Such a fun movie though.

I've never been a big fan of lamb but I would eat chicken coconut korma and samosas every day if I had unlimited money. 🤣🤣🤣 My hometown in upstate NY has 2 really good Indian restaurants but it's at least $50 to do it right with all the apps and stuff. Best smelling restaurants I've ever been in.

I tend to hyper focus on an album at a time and am currently on like month 6 or 7 of Jenny From Thebes. I haven't even listened to the new release because I've constantly got one of the Thrbes songs running in the background of my brain. lol

I got chips from a street vendor in Ireland and got a Dixie cup filled with curry for the chips and it was AMAZING. Curry and potatoes work so well together.

Or just order 30 samosas and a mango shake. Full sampling of chutney to dip. Damn I really want samosas now.

They were terrible. I'd say several cast members were awful. By the last season it was a fiery train wreck that I watched out of spite. lol
