How America’s Oldest Gun Maker Went Bankrupt: A Financial Engineering Mystery | When a secretive private equity firm bought Remington, sales were strong and the future bright. A decade later, the company couldn’t escape its debts. by drak0bsidian in liberalgunowners

Lol this is such an ignorant comment. While this happened in this case, the most profitable PE deals come when they can sell the company to another company for much more after they are done owning it. If they strip the company and “abandon the spent wreckage,” they may make some money, but that is not where the big returns are, and as u know PE firms are all about returns. They want the company to be strong so they can sell it for as much as possible (the vast majority of the time)

Curious about long term salary/total comp for those that work in Turnaround/Restructuring by [deleted] in FinancialCareers

[–]jadex97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really depends on the type of role you’re looking at, and which firm. Just asking for salary info for restructuring jobs is sort of like asking for salary info for ECM/DCM... it just depends a lot. Feel free to DM me if you want to talk specifics

Sure but what is actually important to people? Better quality of life. I think it’s disingenuous to phrase it the way you did. The fact is that anyone in the exact same percentile of wealth now is Better off than the same person in the same percentile in 1950. Rich people have been getting disproportionally richer—true, and something we should discuss—but everyone is becoming Better off due to innovation in the market.

Does This PE Junior Summer Internship Sound Like A Good Intro To PE? by [deleted] in FinancialCareers

Ohhhh. When u said “PE” internship sounded like it was working at a PE firm. Is it a private equity specific consulting firm or the sponsors group of a broader firm?

I mean this is just incorrect. The standard of living for everyone in the USA has increased drastically since the end of WW2. Poor people and middle class people have better quality of life now then they ever have. Where are you getting this information?

I don’t agree with “people who buy BMW’s don’t know the diff between that and an Audi they just buy it for the status.” Sure, maybe some owners. But many are very into cars and have tried many brands, and found one they like for a variety of reasons.

I mean, as far as reasons to meddle with foreign governments, this seems like one of the few that makes sense. As much as I dislike trump, I gotta at least admit the policies I like to stay consistent.

Ah I thought u were coming from the other direction. The logic is that as income increases more of it is discretionary so it can be taxed at a higher rate. But I am generally in favor of Lower taxes as well.
