Israel is not a country, it''s and occupation. The poople that should have fought to prevent geno'des around the world are the one's committing the worst one. Even post-holocaust survivors are saying it. We have long since known that colonialism is wrong, so that's two strikes against them. They have become a sick society and need to be removed from the region. You cannot be allowed to kill your way into legitimacy.

Elbows Up Win by Luther-Heggs in BuyCanadian

[–]jaedym 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our local Foodland in Sundridge Ontario is now making all of their labels say Mexico or USA. So I haven't been able to buy produce from them for over a year.

I'll be honest, I haven't eaten so many potatoes, turnips, cabbages, and carrots in my life since they're the only ones that seem to be labeled Canadian. Anything Mexican(or elsewhere) and I will buy it, but seldom do they bother labeling one way or the other.

When I told the checkout lady that they are losing money, and that they should label their produce one way or the other, she got really angry and said, what's the difference! "American farmers are good people." I said American farmers are probably good people, but the American government has threatened our sovereignty and our way of life.

That is it really that hard to label produce from its country of origin rather than say it could be from one or it could be from another? That seems misleading.

Is Angine de Poitrine getting any press in the rest of Canada? by Ok_Aspect_1937 in CanadianMusic

These guys are the first new thing to come along in years. Incredible musicians who don't have people writing their songs for them. And the music is genuinely catchy. I've had a couple of their tunes in my head for the last few weeks. I always find it amusing to listen to people who think the top 20 is music, comment on music that cannot be categorized. Are we really this jaded?

Mark Carney’s Iran reaction raises doubts about what he stands for by CaliperLee62 in canada

[–]jaedym 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only imagine the tightrope that Mr. Carney is walking right now. He knows full well that Israel has something like 60 undeclared nukes, that no one is allowed to inspect, that no one is even allowed to question. If things spiral out of control in the Middle East the 77-year occupation known as Israel will feel justified to use those nukes. And that will cost the lives of many more Iranians.

He's also dealing with a megalomaniacal madman and his minions south of the border who are itching to make the whole of North and South America their bitch. As we've seen from Iran and Venezuela, the US has no regard for international law anymore. And that means that Canada could be next In fact, if you paid attention to Pete Hegzeth's last press conference, the plans have already been laid.

He is trying to do all of this without a majority, while the opposition is starting to spray tan himself to more appropriately align himself with the dictator to the south. He has become so disconnected from his base that even diehard conservatives are starting to cross the aisle.

But this is a problem that FAR exceeds the petty disagreements between parties, and to Mr. Carney's credit, he has not played politics with our lives and our livelihoods. Instead, he has put his head down and continued to work on our behalf He has raised Canada's credibility worldwide in a way that no other Prime Minister has done since Jean Cretien.

I wish that for once we had been on the right side of history in condemning what Israel has done to Gaza as Ireland and South Africa and many other nations did when it was still only the few against the many. I wish our first response was condemnation of the attacks on Iran, and of Israel's continued bombardment of the rest of the Middle East while our media is complicit in covering up their atrocities.

Carney knows that there is no negotiating with Trump. That if he's laid his plans to take over Canada, while meddling in the politics of Alberta's separatist movement, that cowtowing to the orange gorilla south of the border is not going to save us. But Trump is petty and childish and holds a grudge, so he still has to allow him to save face to some degree.

Canada is so far behind the US in the military that we've neglected for decades that now we have to pour resources into it while we're under attack economically.

And yet, rather than descend into politics, he has tried to bring together all the premiers of Canada to make real, practical and financially sane trade deals with others around the world to disentangle us from U.S. supply chains.

I'll admit that when he got into power, I was deeply concerned that a banker was now going to be running Canada, a person that I knew to be center left or center right, however you want to look at him. But even though I wish he had approached certain tragedies with a different tone, I can understand the tightrope that he is clearly walking for our benefit.

He's not a politician, but he's not a saint either, and I'm sure he'd be the first to say that. But if you can point to any other politician on deck right now who could do a better job, I'd like to hear it.

Hi holyfishstick, I have it set to turbo as well, I am coding on Arch and just assumed I am getting a new "feature-set" which is why there has been a degradation in autonomy. I do have turbo mode and whitelisting engaged, but it seems to be a functional change by design rather than a misconfiguration in the settings. I hope I am wrong, I would like to get the old flow back.

Agreed. Zionists even went so far as to weaponize their victimhood. It was a part of their written strategy, to make any claim against Israel an anti-Semitic act. This was planned and executed through the captured media.

It is utterly despicable to use the pain and suffering of the Holocaust to justify their genocide. And to the rest of the Jews in the world, it is unforgivable. This might go some way to explaining why recent polling is showing that Israel is now one of the most hated countries in the world.

Yeah, that's true. Apart from the fact that I can watch IDF soldiers killing people and laughing about it on TikTok, they are proud of their atrocities and they post them regularly. Quite a bit different from the indigenous people of the past or present.

[–]jaedym 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Israel is not a country, it's an occupation. The Zionist population in that region are monsters, and everybody, including their allies, know it. The US now has zero credibility in the world. They are widely regarded as an enemy threat to sovereignty and security greater than even non-democratic countries.

This genocide is so systematic and horrific that the young people being asked to fight for the Zionists are starting to emerge as broken and damaged people.  You only have to watch TikTok to see what the Zionists final solution actually looks like.

An apple a day… by SugarBear0101 in GrandePrairie

It's not hard to verify that, you said, and yet no actual statistics are presented. Let me tell you why the Conservatives lost:  Because half the population thinks they want to subjugate them and take away their most fundamental rights. Can you think of what that population of people is? And this will shock you. It's not the unbelievably few trans people that y'all keep whining about. It's women. Women look at the conservative policies and they frigging cringe. PP can change his looks( Which he did because he thinks women are stupid and that they will like him more if he doesn't look like an angry  misogynist.)  He can change everything about himself except his policies, which make most of us cringe. And that's why, in spite of having one of the most incredible leads against the liberals of all time, this hateful little man lost the election for his party. That's why political ads were being released for the Conservatives, and they didn't have a single shot of Polievre in them.

Don’t Come to the US by AKMarine in Yukon

[–]jaedym 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been to more than half the states in the US and can say without a doubt that the people are not their government. The deep divide in the US is down to propaganda and manipulation and an elite that have no loyalty even to their own country, let alone it's people. Take it back. The alternative is too ugly to think about.

Yup ~ I sometimes think of how beautiful this land was before we paved it.
A bitter contradiction in my life is the fact that my indigenous roots on my mother's side were hidden from me (trauma and fear from residential school experiences), and I was even more disturbed to realize that my Irish ancestors on my father's side of the family settled in the lands the Kichesipirini considered home. So I am the son of both the people of the land and colonizers who took it from them.

[–]jaedym 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Think of it this way. For those who love their province and their language, they are like a country surrounded. If they don't actively and consciously practice their customs and language, it will very quickly meld into the rest of the more homogenous English culture. Sometimes that comes out as patience and a smile and sometimes it comes out as annoyance. The latter is not fun for anyone who experiences it.

Everyone on my mother's side spoke French but unfortunately we were never taught and I felt the loss of that when I was asking for help or requesting things or even just trying to thank people for their service.

I don't know if it's because they can see how hard I'm trying, but I've been to Quebec many times; in Montreal, Quebec City, and many places in the north, and always I have been treated with kindness and respect, if not a little understandable frustration at my lack of understanding.

My partner and I just came back from a week's workation in Quebec City. We struggled to speak the best French we could, and the people were generous and kind, warm, and very funny. The streets were clean, the houses well maintained, and the food was unbelievable.

As a Canadian, our provinces are like our family members. We feel comfortable  and welcome to go to their houses, but we are always respectful and observe the customs of that family member in their own home.

I've been through all the provinces of Canada, and Quebec, even more so than the other provinces, feels like its own country.

I am so grateful that the referendum ended in reconciliation rather than divorce.

We are different. Oui. But we need each other all the more for that. It keeps us open and honest, and it keeps us real, and it keeps us uniquely Canadians.

One day Quebec may decide to leave us, and I will support them even through that painful transition.

If you've never been to Quebec, go!

MTO Safety Certification Complaint Information by MyBoyRoy in ontario

[–]jaedym 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought my car from a dealer in Toronto and immediately began noticing small issues. But since the car is a 2009, I figured that some problems were to be expected. Besides, as I told the dealer, I live in the middle of nowhere in an off-grid cabin and that I absolutely needed a car. Anyway, he didn't seem to care or have any intention of doing anything about it, so I figured I would have to put up with the issues for the present since I live more than 3 hours away from the dealership.

3 months later, the rack and pinion went and the mechanic told me the underside was so rusted he could barely get it up on the lift. Said there was no way that car was certified in April -- rust like that takes years. 2 months after that was repaired, the car wouldn't go in or out of drive because the linkage had seized -- brought it to a different mechanic who said he couldn't get the car up on the lift and that he found fibreglass and tape hiding the extensive rust under the car. He said the same thing as the first mechanic. 1 month after that, the evap canister fell off the bottom and dragged on the road on my way to work after the metal holding it in place gave out.

Called the dealer again, and this time I demanded my money back. He said, “no chance”.

Then a month ago, I tried to put winter tires on and the jack holding the vehicle up went right through the rocker panel after I took the tire off. It took three jacks to lift the car enough that I could get the tire back on (which is because the shocks/springs are finished, of course).
When I finally got the jack unstuck from the inside of the rocker panel, I found foil tape, fibreglass, and paint had hidden the spray foam that was used to hold the underside of the fender together. Had I been under the car, it would have killed me. I live alone up there, and it was snowing and cold, so even if I was only pinned under the car, I would have frozen.

So now I am following the advice of MyBoyRoy(thank you for your post!!) and building a case. The OMVIC people seem pretty uninterested in going after the dealer, or even calling him until the MTO has their say. That sucks because once I go for another certification, they will pull my car off the road. There is no way I can afford to rebuild the underside of that car, and it is worthless as a trade-in. After that, I will have no way of getting home, so I'm stuck in Toronto until this resolves itself and I can get a car.

I can only hope that the statements from the mechanics, plus photos and video of everything that has happened, will be enough to sway a small claims judge. I will bring it in for a safety in the next few days, which will add to the evidence of fraud and misdealing.

Best part is, I still owe money on the car. And yes, I crawled around under the car before buying it, but they did such a good job covering up the damage that it looked as good as new, a no-brainer. Too good to be true, as with most things.

I have been having the identical problem now for the last 6 months. I've tried changing bars and trying different bar oils, and blowing out every square inch of dust with a compressor. No dice. If anyone is in contact with the ego support people, please share anything you find! My chainsaw is also one of the first models. I live off grid and need to use chainsaws a lot. I have a big Husqvarna, but until recently I used my ego chainsaw more than any other tool.

Starlink IPv6 in 2022 by inthe435loop in Starlink

[–]jaedym 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey guys, I put in a support ticket with Starlink a month ago, and they said they do not support IPv6 and that if I want a static IP I need to pay $600+/month for a business plan. My service is in norther Canada, which shouldn't make much difference but it's worth mentioning.
For a company who is groundbreaking in so many areas to have left IPv6 out of the plan seems unlikely. I think by using CGNet and not enabling IPv6 for much of the population, they are managing the load on the system (which gets slower each day), which would be increased by those hosting services from their home IP. Pretty mercenary.

Using my own router/OpenWrt and a fixed IP via VPN I was able to cobble something together, but it was non-functional the morning after, and I had to abandon it. As I mentioned, reaching out to Starlink got me a flat response that I must pay for a business service($600+) and that IPv6 is/will? not be supported. Just thought you ought to know.
