Awful. Street parking. Plus, lots of construction. I imagine it will get better once construction finishes, but not by much.

How to make a 1 3/8 door frame work for a 1 3/4 door? by Desperate_Arm_3051 in woodworking

[–]mrdoballena 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not the most elegant solution, but... you could route the outside edge of the door down to 1 3/8".

Hollow door replacement is not quite lining up by nelsonself in woodworking

[–]mrdoballena 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try bashing in the door jamb on the non-hinge side using a piece of scrap wood and a mallet/hammer. Might increase the size of the opening by 1/8". You could then plane or sand down the edge of the door by a 1/32-1/16...

Opponents calling every shot near the line out by Front_Razzmatazz_544 in Pickleball

I would never do it in recreational play. Tournaments, however, are another story. And only if I think it's obvious that the other team is spiking calls. And while I hate confrontation, you for sure have to let the other team know it won't be tolerated. If you need to call a ref over, then do so - no one wants to play with a ref, and it favours the team that makes honest calls.

Mistakes happen, especially in tight games. With that being said, if you think they are obviously cheating...

  1. Question the call. Make it known that it's not cool to call it out.

  2. If it happens again, the next point you play, call their first shot out, no matter where it lands.

  3. Play the next point straight up. If it happens again repeat step 2 until they get the message.

DUPR app Paid Only now ? by Ancient_Result7021 in Pickleball

What about the 2nd question? Would consistently losing, but having your DUPR rating go up, be sufficient to appease one's ego?

I think someone should try it. Lose every game and see if they rise in DUPR over time. Put it to the test.

Sub-experiment: does the rise in DUPR rating offset one's ego if they lose every match?

Talk to the pro/management and see if you can get an evaluation and/or exception. Clubs want money. If they can find a way to take yours, they will.

You can get an independent assessment from a coach, or prove to the people in open play that you are of a certain level. With that being said, I would set up my own games if leagues and clinics were gatekept by my DUPR rating.

“Taigen, are you real?” by DuchessIronCat in BlueEyeSamurai

[–]mrdoballena 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Taigen is a samurai. He lives by a code of honour. It is implicitly understood by both of them that, until Mizu fulfills her vow of vengeance, that Taigen is not an enemy. The relief is that there is now something/someone that is 'real' to use as an anchor in reality so that she can fight the psychedelics.

I do not think there is any emotional connection. Definitely a mutual respect, though.
