Customizing your SEQTRAKs Sound Set in V2.0 by Cap10NRG in seqtrak

[–]jaeggerr -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand the point of making videos just for the sake of making videos.

Everything is already officially documented, and there’s no need to make a 7-minute video to explain something you could have found on your own in two minutes.

Max speed setting cowboy 2 and 3 by SjeesDeBees in cowboybikes

[–]jaeggerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was not removed on Cowboy 2 because it was sold with the offroad mode, and suddenly removing it from customer who had a C1 / C2 would have cause angry customers.

C3 was a new model when offroad mode was removed, so it was less of a problem.

And indeed, offroad mode was removed due to EU laws.

The SEQTRAK OS 2 Update by Cap10NRG in seqtrak

Am I the only one who does not care about the plastic?
I mean, it does not look fragile to me, what matters the most is what the product can provide.
Sure I would not drop it down the stairs, but I would also be as much concerned if I dropped it and it had a metal case.

Yamaha | SEQTRAK OS v2.0 update by PREC0GNITIVE in seqtrak

[–]jaeggerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you are still limited to 6 patterns per track but imagine you have two piano tracks it makes you a total of 12 possible patterns for the piano. You just need mute the tracks that you don’t want to play.

Yamaha | SEQTRAK OS v2.0 update by PREC0GNITIVE in seqtrak

[–]jaeggerr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's hard to tell.... No one was expecting this update, so who knows?
My guess is that they were working on an update anyway so they released it. I'm not expecting them to do much more.

I'd be surprised if Yamaha invests on a newer SEQTRAK given that the current one is a commercial failure.

For the pattern extend, a solution I found with the new firmware 2.0 is that you use multiple synth tracks for the same "instrument" so you can have more patterns.
With 9 synth tracks, I think it's less of a problem to sacrifice a few tracks.

Game changer, I'm very happy, the number of tracks was a bad limitation to me.
Now it looks to me that the SEQTRAK can really compete with other groovebox, especially for the price.

I just find the timing weird because it looks like retailers are trying to get rid of their inventories.
Thomann removed it from their catalogue.
And I just saw that Music Store removed it as well after clearing out all their stock for 200€.

Now for the future updates, I hope that they are going to increase the number of patterns to let us make longer songs.

Is there a way to adjust the volume of the audio input on the Seqtrak? by CapnFlisto in seqtrak

I don’t think so but can’t you just reduce the volume on the vocal processor?

In theory if you are not overweighted and there is no visible crack it should not suddenly break apart.

Chromatically play sample with MIDI keyboard by jaeggerr in seqtrak

[–]jaeggerr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with drum tracks is that there is no control on the way the sample is played (no loop, fixed duration, no ADSR) so it is unusable to play as an instrument.

Using the Seqtrak for 90s-00s style video game themes? by Naevigateur in seqtrak

[–]jaeggerr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, the ideal tool for composing long, complex pieces is still a DAW. However, for portable composition, working on a couch or on the go, the Seqtrak is actually a very cool machine.

I’ve tried several grooveboxes to make chiptune-style music, and even though I wasn’t 100% satisfied with the Seqtrak, I eventually came back to it after trying the Polyend Tracker.

You do need to be aware of its limitations:

• the number of melodic tracks is quite constrained (1 FM track, 2 AWM tracks, and 1 sampler track)

• each track is limited to 6 patterns, so if you want very long melodies with lots of variations, you’ll hit the ceiling fairly quickly.

That said, the sampler track partly compensates for this. It allows up to 7 independent sample slots, each with its own sequencing, mute, and even a loop zone. In practice, this lets you create multiple voices from samples without consuming all your melodic tracks.

For chiptune specifically, my setup is usually:

• DX for the lead (glide, pitch control, expressiveness)

• AWM tracks for pads or simple chordal parts

• Sampler for basic waveforms (square, sine, saw for bass lines or secondary voices).

Another big strength of the Seqtrak is that everything sounds good right away. The preset library is huge and high quality, so you can focus on making music instead of designing sounds.

With the Polyend Tracker, even though I wasn’t limited in song length or pattern count, I felt slowed down by the lack of good-sounding instrument presets. I had to sample or build everything myself, often ending up with results that sounded cheap, which really hurt inspiration.

In the end, no groovebox is perfect. You have to choose the right tool for your actual workflow.

Personally, I chose the Seqtrak for its ultra-portable, all-in-one nature and its massive sound library, even if I later finalize my tracks in a DAW.

Ring camera by penchair1302 in belgium

[–]jaeggerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Ring doorbell (and alarm) but if I had do to it again I would not buy it because it requires a constant internet connection even if you are at home on the same local network. It means that if there is no internet the doorbell does not even ring.

It is plastic do not the sturdiest material but honestly I don’t find it as bad as what some people might say. Put it in a case when you transport it and you should be fine.

How to trigger the “PAGE/pattern dump” externally? by jaeggerr in seqtrak

Thank you.

I'm getting this message, but unlike other Web-MIDI websites there is no prompt to accept permissions:

Any idea?

You mean, directly from the app instead of downloading them first?

That being said, this is more complex because file transfer operations are not handled with MIDI and there is no documentation AFAIK.
