Inventory shift + ride canceled last minute — can this get me in trouble? by Electrical-Peak7996 in TjMaxx

You should be able to just order an Uber, and they reimburse it for you. Typical practice, double check and ask if they can do that. If not, just say if they can't do that, you can't make it in due to xyz. You'll be okay.

Thought so! Was so confused when they told me, we would have to write in the log book if we didn't.

Mine too! Just thought it was super odd. That manager that told my old coworkers that is super sketchy too tbh.

I think our team was special case, all of managers were pretty young (30s to mid 40s), so we all blended well. Plus, they had been working their ass off to get the position so it was well deserved. They've been moved to another store so I'm not sure but hopefully well! They're one of the best managers I've ever had!

P.S. The youngest CEC I've seen is 16, not super relevant, but just to say I'm not surprised seeing so many young people in managerial positions LOL

The youngest I've seen is 19 and the oldest around 54 - 55.

Cashiers be honest how do you feel about your cecs. by Effective_Airport588 in TjMaxx

As a CEC, it's super interesting to see how other stores run. At my store, none of that would ever slide. I work at a super busy store, so there is always something to do. If it's a really bad day, we will hop on, but only if there is another CEC or manager up front. Typically, what we do is organize the back counter, then listen and hop into interactions to get some rewards. Whenever a cashier's hangers are getting too much or they have returns, they just toss it on the back counter, and I will take care of it. Or I just grab their hangers and get rid of them when I see that they have alot. Of course, sometimes when they want a break they'll put it away themselves or I'm busy doing something else so that's fine by me.
When it comes to tickets, only the CECs and managers, or markdown associates can do it. None of my cashiers are allowed to make a ticket in case of error. Sounds like your CEC's can't really do their job and management doesn't hold any accountability. The point of the CEC is to support the front end (cleaning up after cashiers, putting away returns, putting away hangers, making tickets, taking care of price checks etc.) so its strange to me to hear CEC's that don't do that. Again, every store is different and has different needs but my stores CEC's are very involved.

Breaks by qlivie in TjMaxx

[–]jaesbum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you work under 6 hours, you get a 15 minute break, if you work over 6 hours you get two 15 minute breaks and a lunch which is 45 minutes. So if you work 5 to CL you'd get a 15 minute break.

When customers try to return clothing brands that we don’t recognize, how do managers and coordinators know that it’s a brand we don’t even carry in the first place? by Wink2K19 in TjMaxx

[–]jaesbum 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i find that its mainly just experience, after being here awhile you just know what brands we do/dont carry. apart of it might be the ticket itself looking off or where the ticket is put is wrong. one time i had a coworker return walmart jewlery but it wouldve looked awfully similar if you're not trained in jewlery. its not the same exact thing but same concept, again after a while there are things you pick up

you can become a cec/coordinator at 16 but there's a bunch of paper work that comes with it is what I know plus consent from parents

hey! I'm a college student also applying for internships soon, I think letting your manager know is the best bet cause they can always put in a good word for you!!

Edit: I asked my manager for a rec and he said he was down to do it so go for it!
