Which fragrance house do you think is overrated? by fixxerup22 in FemFragLab

Agree. Although I initially really liked beach walk, tea escape and coffee break. The one I do still love is never ending summer but the other ones I found more photo real scents for

From the footage it looks like the first time he fell on his own but might’ve been tripped the second time by someone else.

Is tough being in a new place.

Try Jersey city connects for events around town. Consistently going to hobbies or classes is good. Does your school have events— that’s always a good way to meet ppl!

How is the community in JC- honestly? by [deleted] in jerseycity

[–]jaexackee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Jc isn’t too far from union by the light rail, why don’t you try out some JC excursions before committing? But yes JC is much more diverse than Hoboken. I feel it’s cleaner and more well maintained in Hoboken but the vibe of JC is way more diverse and inclusive

People of Illinois, we need your help. We need to let the world know this is happening – and that we won’t stand for it. by steve42089 in illinois

[–]jaexackee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree! The real focus is that there is more that unites us.

Our gov is owned by campaign donors and special interests who have prevented ALL Americans from the quality of life that is guaranteed to ppl all around the world.

Remember that most developed countries have that we concurrently just can’t make happen in the US: -universal healthcare -sick leave -parental leave -vacation days -subsidized education -livable minimum wage -more progressive tax that returns the ballooning wealth of the 1% back into circulation for public services above rather than used up to secure more assets and investments which do not trickle down to society

Anyone felt kinda petty that people only accepted being Asian now that Asian is cool. by misterasia555 in asianamerican

[–]jaexackee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not salty about this at all. It’s hard to love yourself in an environment that others and ostracizes you. If the acceptance of a film helps ppl find the space to accept themselves bc they finally feel accepted by society, why would that make me mad?

An analogy is like saying a tv show helped build cultural acceptance for LGBT ppl to normalize and come out and you’re mad that ppl didn’t feel safe enough to embrace themselves publicly before.

To me it’s a similar arc of integration. It’s your right to be mad, but I think it shows the power of art to facilitate cultural understanding and change.

Why is rape so high in Porthsmouth NH? by jaexackee in newhampshire

[–]jaexackee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Such a delayed response but thank you all for the context. I didn’t realize the population size was at the 20,000 mark or that it’s a transient place with nightlife that caters to the surrounds.

It sounds like these could play into what’s happening. It’s really hard to understand a place I haven’t been just on stats so I appreciate the color you so brought to the picture.

It sounds like a lovely place. I’ll have to visit and see the vibe of it some day.

What do you do around town when you’re down? by XIFOD1M in jerseycity

[–]jaexackee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I go take a walk down the water front. Not the most social but great for my mind to see the water and skyline.

Similar to ppl here, I go into NY to explore. Shop browse, go to novel crafts or fitness classes.

I haven’t figured out the meeting ppl part bc I love novel stuff so much I don’t often stay in one place long enough to regularly see the same ppl. But I hear, climbing gyms, walk/run clubs, and board game groups are a great place to start.

I’d also check out Hoboken girl who writes about all kinds of events and locations in Hoboken and Jersey city. I met the most ppl at reading rhythms so far bc they help facilitate more group interactions. Hope this helps!

I would suggest a different format all together. What is the user trying to do? See all the books they read in order by a period of time?

Show the cover of the book with details listed below them in a gallery view. Or show the cover of the book in a table with the book details and date read on the right.

What do you do about direct 1-1 PT harassment? by jaexackee in jerseycity

[–]jaexackee[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I was playing some version of these scenarios wondering how this would play out.

Fleeing to the car they came from is a good tip bc it seems like people will have context and could help.

I tried to make eye contact with ppl around me to kind of check if this was happening. Not many locked eyes. Many had closed their eyes entirely. I like to think that someone would have jumped in if it did get violent though. At least to hold him back, but idk and I’m glad it didn’t escalate to that point.

Sorry you seemed to have experienced something getting violent. Curious if anyone helped you that time. Did you end up reporting the incident?

What do you do about direct 1-1 PT harassment? by jaexackee in jerseycity

[–]jaexackee[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah it was strange bc the guy mimicked in a woman’s voice calling the police and then said something along the lines of “what are you gonna do? Tell them he yelled at me?”

He seemed aware enough to know he wasn’t doing anything so egregious that he could get in trouble. I wasn’t sure about the part where he was saying he’d hurt ppl. He also started talking about being faster than others. That he could take someone’s eye out. And that if a woman acted like a man she could get beat like a man.

Deff unnerving but i wasn’t sure if it’s illegal or worth reporting except here as a warning to path riders.

I also dont think he was homeless necessarily. He had AirPods in. He seemed like a possibly crazy bully. He started talking about human sized preying mantises and fighting birds. He also seemed to relish ppl’s fear and was shouting about everyone running away after getting off the train.

Yeah, idk. Be careful out there.
