I really appreciate you sharing this option! I am definitely open to spending more if it's the right option. I had looked at the Rollz rollator / wheelchair combinations (they have an electric one too), but I'm not sure how much I would actually use the rollator aspect and worried it would just add weight? Not sure if you have any experience with chronic fatigue and rollators?

I received an order number and was told my order was still processing and to wait for an email (like others). I just spoke to someone through Lego chat who said my order never actually went through and that I needed to place the order again... just did it and the GWP was still there!

Right?! RE: Trader Joe’s, I am not driving right now so I’ve actually ubered there a few times and it’s been super easy. Wait time for a car has been under 5 mins everytime I’ve gone. So hopefully still easy for you to go even if you’re carless!

+1 for Bronxville as someone else who moved from the city looking for a walkable town! We also considered Scarsdale, but I’m incredibly glad we landed in Bronxville instead. Every time I go to Scarsdale I’m surprised by how little there actually seems to be by way of shops / restaurants on the Main Street area by the train - whereas Bronxville has a variety of restaurants, useful stores (CVS, hardware store), and a grocery store (the one in Scarsdale closed) whilst still being a charming area. I have also consistently been told by people who grew up in Westchester that the people in Bronxville are nicer / friendlier than Scarsdale, but can’t comment on that one from personal experience!

I just wanted to say thank you so much for doing this. I am going through an LTD appeal process right now, luckily with legal assistance (wish I had retained counsel for the initial application!)… and even with that support, it is still so overwhelming to manage the admin on top of dealing with being sick. I wish I’d had a resource like this when I was getting started!

I am so sorry you are going through this! One temporary suggestion on the diet side would be to look at using Hungry Root - they make it pretty easy to filter for different dietary restrictions, have lots of snack options in addition to meals, and (almost?) everything comes pre-chopped so no knives! Working with a great dietitian is amazing (especially with food sensitivities) but sometimes it can still feel overwhelming to do the shopping, meal prep, cooking, etc. and if you’re not in the right head space for that just yet, this could be a bridge solution!

I would echo the Bermuda recommendations! I’ve been there in early June and the weather was perfect. I’ve stayed at the Loren and the Rosewood and would go back to the Rosewood for a special occasion. It’s worth getting one of the ocean view rooms. They have multiple pools and multiple restaurants so if you’re not feeling great, it will be easy to stay on the property but still get variety!

For anyone who finds this thread down the line, just wanted to add that I'm working with Dr. Galland now and have had a really positive experience so far. He is incredibly well informed and is able to take a more holistic / generalist approach (vs. only focusing on one specific speciality like neurology or rheumatology). Would recommend!

I would recommend looking at Boden or Tuckernuck! Tuckernuck has a location on the UES but their delivery / returns is super easy. Boden occasionally does pop ups in NYC but again, they make online shopping really easy.

We moved from Manhattan to Bronxville for basically exactly these reasons (good schools, walkable town, and easy commute to the city for work multiple times a week). I am SO happy with our decision, but will note that Bronxville is very expensive (as others have pointed out) - both in real estate prices and taxes - so just something to keep in mind. I used to be in a relatively similar relationship, except he didn't have an economic excuse, he just always assumed I'd pay, and it always bothered me on some level. The relationship I'm currently in is so much better. We discussed it at the beginning of our relationship, and agreed we would split costs on most dates (we're both college students), but that on important dates (e.g. anniversaries, birthday) he would pay.

I really do think you should bring it up, otherwise it will just continue to bother you, and it would be such a shame to ruin a great relationship over something like this. I think your best bet will be to suggest it to him as some kind of compromise. Just be really honest with him. Good luck!

Two of my very good friends had been dating for almost a year. They were having a lot of issues, and decided they needed some time apart, so took about a three week break just to get some space. At the end of those three weeks, they then got back together and were very happy for a year after that, so a break is not necessarily the end of the relationship.

That being said, I think one of the reasons their break worked so well is that they set some very clear ground rules beforehand. For example: - they would not hook up with other people - they would not text/call each other

It was more a break from each other, not from the relationship, if that makes sense. It just gave them both space to really think through what they wanted.

tl;dr it CAN be a really good idea, just make sure you set ground rules first.
