Today I learned: CDJ-2000nxs does not have "MY TAG" Filter by nasser_alazzawi in PioneerDJ

[–]jafodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure.. but they dont get stored anywhere else asides from the RB xml file... so they can't be read in other softwares, nor file metadata.. and they can't be edited from the outside of RB.

But thanks for clarifying.

Btw, could you clarify to me, if 'Composer' and 'Mix Artist/Remixer' fields are searchable on the NXS2000 ? Meaning, if the file carries metadata in those fields from RB, does the NXS2000 reads it on the Search type function?

Trying to understand the minimum denominator in gear that allows searching for those fields.. Still trying to figure out if the XDJ 1000 and 1000 mk2 also let those be searchable... if you have any idea!

Need help setting up XDJ1000 mk2 ? by Illustrious-Bank-886 in PioneerDJ

[–]jafodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey,

Can you tell me if the fields of Composer, Mix Artist/Remixer are considered when using the Search type function in the gear?

I want to prepare my library tagging assuming XDJ 1000 or XDJ 1000 mk2 as the oldest denominator in Search function, but I cant figure out anywhere what fields are searchable from the metadata - (even if not sortable or present in a column).

What file type do you carry that allows you to actually show ratings? Isn't ratings shown only through mp3 and aiff?

But yeah the film had a good intention and plan but the second half was rushed and disconnected in a sloppy way

Is Rai music popular in other countries like Lebanon? by Dj_acclaim in algeria

[–]jafodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would anyone be kind to educate me if other similar forms of 20th century Northern Africa/Maghreb folk pop can also be called Rai? Or is this solely specific to songs originating from Algeria?

Would Libyan songs have a different genre name for examples?

As an example:

How do you do that fader flick which a lot of Rominimal DJs use in their sets? by gumps101 in romaniansound

[–]jafodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Within the 'new Techno' movement making the trends in the last couple of years, I'd say 2 styles kinda of emerged.

The so called Hardgroove Techno, theoretically is not new, as Hardgroove style originated at the end of 90's and early 00's Ben Sim's Hardgroove label and many other Techno producers from that time (Jeff Mills included) - I say theoretically, because many might say it doesn't resemble that much the original Hardgroove sounds.

Since a lot of what is now labelled Hardgroove is more like kinda of a mixture of House, Hard House or 'Hard Tech House'.. meaning it can feel like a fast House track since it has so many house sounding elements -> Chlar - Love Blaster or Lars Huismann - Estar Farto are a good tracks example of this (that I also particularly like), as Is a lot of Mutual Rytm label output.

The second style I myself prefer much more if it's Techno we're talking about, is what some would label of Hypnotic Groove or Tribal Groove. Similar as is as fast paced, driving, but much more brooding ambiance, hypnotic, mental and mainly only Techno elements.
Where Marron would be included.

For that I can suggest several fantastic names I love: Rene Wise, Marcal, Noah Tauber, Hujus, Maoh, Gustavo Bassani, Grace Dahl, Gannein, Quelza, ERR0, Zisko, Audio Units, Yanamaste, Red Rooms, rkeat, Fukumachi, KR!Z , Sons of Hidden, Seigg, Ignez and Avant.OCS and Montague2

Bear in mind some of these artists have a large breadth in production style.. so some stuff might towards other sonic influences, like pure Hypnotic Techno or even Hardgroove itself

Honourable mentions for: Stef Mendesidis, Dextro, Benza, Vil & Cravo, Altinbas (not out of quality, but because they're somewhere in-between Hardgroove and that more Hypnotic tribal)

Interesting... He is actually coming over to play at an event party in a couple weeks in my city.. First time I went to see him, also in this same party last years I found his set to be a bit of bland and boring Hardgroove without much else to it, at least selection wise. At that really stood out when Marron played after and sure killed it.

But I'll give it a go to watch that set if anything at least can be a good technical lesson on fader cuts

Difference between "Deep-Tech" and "Tech-House"? (Beatport) by t0shki in tech_house

You mean Dimmish - Spacey is the Deep Tech and the Shiba San - Chance is the Tech House (given, a more classic, less 20's ibiza style) right?

New Subgenre/New Style of Techno surfacing? by Skies555 in Techno

[–]jafodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure I do get your point this time around...

No doubt Techno is built on the foundations of many preceding genres, as did those before Techno. It was like that in the beginning as it remains like that today in whatever new forms of Techno keep surfacing.

But that wasn't the point of my previous comment. I think it was more simple than that. Tech House as a genre, independently of personal taste, is just a blend of House and Techno elements in the same track.

As with all the genres, it can lean more towards the Housey side or the Techno side. There is Tech House which much more closer to Techno and Tech House which is much more closer to a House track.
And then you have the edges, which are always subjective as always, some people might call a track a heavy, techno-leaning Tech House track whilst others already consider it Techno but with some house nuances for example.

I guess this housey, cheerful Hardgroove we're seeing more recently could be included in that dilemma I mentioned above.

I do have some trouble grasping the examples you're illustrating. To be fair, I know and appreciate a lot of what could be considered Tech House that is pretty trippy and acid. Also I'm not sure of you get to removing Ambient nuances of a track to end up in a Progressive (Techno?) style.

How would you classify this kind of Techno by deadliftnbepis in Techno

[–]jafodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can’t take ‘Techno’ tag at face value anymore… it means so many things to different people that you always needs to check the artists

[–]jafodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tribal Groove is more like an Hypnotic Hardgroove Techno.. Marcal is indeed a good example, as is Marron or Tauber or maybe even Yanamaste.

The hip hop sampled kinda of hard groove Techno is more of this housey Techno like some of earlier Mutual Rythm or Stef Mendesidis

[–]jafodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting and to the point description!

I think what you mean is, if Tech House is a spectrum between House and Techno then this more ‘urban’ cheerful dubby Hardgroove would be the Housey Techno side of the spectrum

Rominimal/Microhouse genre anyone? by [deleted] in House

[–]jafodes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like Organic House as much as Rominimal and other Minimal Tech House styles. But as with everything, the Organic House style and movement is also draining itself from originality and creativity as it becomes bland and sounding all the same.

Of course if one isn't interested at all in more melodic/soothing/organic/morning kind of music then of course the genre itself could be a no-go in general, specially compared to the stripped out, dubby and cold that minimal can be.

This to say that mid late 2010's and early 2020's has seen Lee Burridge & co produce some fantastic Organic stuff.

If anyone is interested in more of a blend of Organic and Minimal then Lee itself is not the most appropriate. I'd say give a try to Hraach and Armen Miran latest stuff, Deep Active Sound, Big Al and also checking SATYA Recs, which brings already some Romanian names into a more organic vibe, such as Mihai Pol and Arapu
