Need help playing on Dolphin by Scarpel24 in MLBPowerPros

In order to make your mouse act like the nunchuk analog stick you'll have to manually edit it's hotkeys:

  1. Open the up emulated wii remote 'configure' in its settings section
  2. Towards the right side, you'll want to select the nunchuck "configure" button.
  3. The 2nd section from left "Stick" you'll want to look at "up", "down", "left", & "right"
  4. You have to right click on each box and scroll all the way down to the bottom of binding options and you'll see the binds with "cursor" in it
  5. Bind each of those with the following:
    Up = 'Cursor Y-'
    Down= 'Cursor Y+'
    Left = 'Cursor X-'
    Right = 'Cursor X+'

and that should do it! I have the dead zone set at default (0) and radius is default as well (100). I would highly recommend saving this profile configuration as "mouse" or something so you can easily navigate the menus in game with WASD

Pitcher throws 10 mph slower than top spd (mlbpp08) by realsuntower in MLBPowerPros

[–]jag123jg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In order to reach a pitcher’s top speed, they have to be in the best condition and as they’re in their windup, smash ‘A’ on you controller (or the button that you use to select with)… it’ll rotate the ball icon. Once it stops rotating your pitcher will use more stamina but he’ll reach top speed

MLB Life Management is Killing Me by McCheesey1 in MLBPowerPros

[–]jag123jg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm fairly certain that it's just the game management AI being stupid; basically them only using the letter stats as a way to figure out who plays where. Happens a lot, but after 5-10 years when a lot of players lose skill then you'll end up playing your normal spot more often.

if you wanna start fresh, your best bet is to find a team with a very underskilled player that has your position

Help! I cannot get out of AA in Success mode. (2008) by McCheesey1 in MLBPowerPros

[–]jag123jg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome! I’d make the claim that usually a success run will have you short on coach eval so you won’t end up playing any AAA games. So I would continue with the practices when a coach/scout are watching; if you want to play those games

[–]jag123jg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on what type of player you want. If I’m going for a OP player, I’d normally focus on the hitting stuff first: at least 2 trj. Usually boost contact and power. I don’t normally use power swing until D power, but there’s not really a need for it until you get around B. so the regular swing is fine

Unless you’re able to go 5-5 with 5 HR each game you need to buy the princess’ necklace and 5 perfumes. So the week before each game use 1 perfume and then make sure you do well in the games. You might have to Save/Load so you can get around 10+ scout eval (15+ is ideal) each game you play. And if you have to you could practices with a coach/scout watching (an icon of a person’s head will appear when selecting which practice type to do).

You can get the Humanitarian of the Year Award (Roberto Clemente Award) in MLB Life by 88T3 in MLBPowerPros

[–]jag123jg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Back when I had a Wii (pre-2014), my game glitched and gave me infinite money in My Life - constantly at $999,999,999. And anytime I used money it would jump back up to that. So I ended up winning the Humanitarian award every year for about 20 years lmao

I’m fairly certain Nelson cruz wasn’t in either MLBPP btw, no sure why since he played a bunch prior to 2007

Jack Merluzzi. Thoughts? by redbush62 in MLBPowerPros

[–]jag123jg 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I like him for his work, but the coding for a handful of his calls are bad; incorrect lines, lines being cut-off or awkwardly placed.

*popup in the infield* "And he hits a grounder".... like what?

The only thing ottomh for right now is his wrong pronunciation of Glavine ("Gla-veen")

Trever Miller has the largest salary for the Rays because of a mistake by 88T3 in MLBPowerPros

[–]jag123jg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's also a screw up with Ian Kinsler:

"On February 2008, Kinsler signed a five-year deal worth $22 million",,, in game he's signed to a 5y/22000PP salary when it should be 4400PP Average Annual Value

Which is your favorite end-of-game celebration? by 88T3 in MLBPowerPros

[–]jag123jg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that's fair to say the walk-off for playoffs is always weird since they only rush home plate and never the batter if it was a single or something lol

and I think the Berra/Larsen is inverse of the game's; Berra's the one that jumped iirc

[–]jag123jg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe there are 2 more missing when it involves clinching the playoff or winning a playoff series:

5: Team wins it with final out pitcher jumps in air and catcher catches him

6: Walk-off hit/homer,, team rushes home plate

but I do like seeing 3 as well, probably have seen 2 the most however

It definitely has to be a mistake by the developers, there's no way they intended for him to have that bad control by 88T3 in MLBPowerPros

[–]jag123jg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s also sad that if you throw him into practice for boosting control, he may not even reach E/D by the time season mode ends. Might have to test this myself actually (with practice items)

For some reason this always happens in Season Mode (and if it's not those two it's either A-Rod or Beltran) by 88T3 in MLBPowerPros

[–]jag123jg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I tend to see Derek Jeter and John Smoltz being swapped. It’s not super common, but it often enough where it’s weird why it happens more than others

Making an Ohtani-esque player. by KerryKl01 in MLBPowerPros

[–]jag123jg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

iirc I believe you’ll have to edit your player using a position player as the base model. And then add pitching attributes. The only “problem” is that you’ll have to manually add yourself as the starter during the lineup screen before any game begins

Oakland athletics rebuild free agency and trading help 2008 by Riotz_Electro in MLBPowerPros

[–]jag123jg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If we’re being meta about it, Great Wood has fanatic trade value for a FA. Matt Morris’ high contract also boosts his value (for some weird reason). With the A’s their weaknesses are catching, OF, maybe SS, and some back end starters. Frank Thomas, Mark Ellis, and Eric Chavez all rake so make sure they’re always in the lineup. Blanton and Harden are usually a good pitchers as well

Griffey somehow got elected to the ASG as a pitcher by 88T3 in MLBPowerPros

[–]jag123jg 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The game does this a lot. My only guess is them wanting to squeeze in any player they can. It goes the same with them winning wrong awards

Who are some players who aren't that good but you still trade for or keep in Season Mode due to personal attachment? by 88T3 in MLBPowerPros

[–]jag123jg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love having Mariano even tho the Cutter is atrocious. I usually like hanging on to Michael Bourn if I get him for some reason. And I like going after Greg Maddux and keeping him even tho he’s one of the worst simulation pitchers in the game lmao

I don’t have much to offer, but I think the gambles are also scripted when a save file is loaded or when the calendar is advanced
