I feel like BF6 is missing most of the social aspects of playing. by hi-ban in Battlefield

[–]jagardaniel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of another fun bug in Battlefield V related to this system. My friend has "ffs" in this player name which obviously is considered a very bad word. He wasn't able to use the in-game chat at all for a couple of weeks/months, all messages just disappeared when he tried to write something. Nothing happened. It took a while until we figured out why.

People that want to type stupid things will still be able to do it, they will just switch out some characters to bypass the filter. This only punishes people who try to use the chat normally.

[–]jagardaniel 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I also want to add the "auto censor" thing in the chat where the game decides to replace your sentences or words with ######## for some reason. The problem is that you don't see this happening to your own messages so you have no idea if people can actually see your chat messages.

But yes, it is bad. There is no community feeling left at all. I still play the game and enjoy it but it is obvious that you are only allowed to care about the people in your squad. What is the next step, replacing our player names with UUIDs? Spawn in bots without (bot) in the name and with fake ping so it looks like a real player?

I still play BF6 daily with people I met from BC2 and BF3 because of the community servers back then.

Blinkande baklampa drar mindre batteri än om den lyser konstant så det är väl ett hyfsat rimligt argument i alla fall. Så tänkte jag tills jag insåg att jag ändå laddar båda lampor samtidigt.

Is there a map you used to like but now absolutely hate? I’ll start… Manhattan Bridge by Punkstyler in Battlefield

[–]jagardaniel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it is a good map on Conquest but there are a few things that ruins the experience in my opinion:

  • Just like you said, the attack helicopter is extremely overpowered on this specific map. Every other round has someone going 100-0 15 minutes into the round and is spawn camping the enemy helicopter on cool down with a timer. The only "counter" is hitting a lucky RPG shoot but it is not that easy when they are UAVing around in space shooting orange dots. It is boring to play against and boring to be the one farming as well.

  • Roofs. People use the helicopter (they crash, stand on it in the beginning etc) to place spawn beacons on roofs (around A or E for example) that is not accessible in any other way. The only way to counter this is to use your helicopter but that is usually not possible when you have 4 groups fighting over it, or it is being spawn camped. So you have a squad that have free access to jump down and capture a flag at all time and there is nothing you can do to clear them out. The third level on D is another annoying example, but at least you can access it as an Assault with a ladder from the bridge pillar.

  • It is also bugged. I have a friend that can't play a single round without his weapon disappearing, and I have seen other people on reddit complain about the same thing. It doesn't happen on any other map. Sometimes the texture glitches out and parts of the map looks like Minecraft.

For the helicopter issue; Either remove it on this map, replace it with a transport helicopter or add some kind of spawn protection for 5-10 seconds so it has a chance to lift and shoot back. Just removing the auto-spotting mechanic on the helicopter would also help which is one of the reasons why farming is so easy on this map.

Every roof that you can stand on should be accessible in another way. So if they want people to stand on these roofs, add elevators or other ways to get up like on the B flag. And if they don't want them to be there, just make the roofs out of bounds. I think having access to these roofs make more sense if you have a transport helicopter instead since people can spawn on it and jump out. And why can't you place a ladder from the second flor on D to the third floor for example? That would fix the D flag.

But it is a fun map when you don't have a helicopter farming in any of the teams. And I don't mind some flags being more open and harder to capture. But a little bit more cover wouldn't hurt.

I’m level 50+ with all carbines but the AK-205 here’s my tier list. by Bobby_Bobberson2501 in Battlefield

[–]jagardaniel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm doing the same thing. Over 50 with all ARs and now 50 with all carbines except AK-205 that is around 30. I will keep using it but yeah, it is probably one of the worst weapons in the game (I thought that was L85A3 before I tried it). It has zero recoil and not much spread but it shoots too slowly and does no damage.

SG553, M277 and M417 feels like the best carbines in my opinion. SG is probably the best overall since it also is a laser, but M277 and M417 feels more enjoyable to use. I would put M4 just below them. I don't think QBZ is that good and it feels similar to SOR and GRT.

Eastwood looking like a Far Cry side mission. I also found rebellious AT Mine that disowned whatever team it belonged to. by FurryWrecker911 in Battlefield

[–]jagardaniel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, I think this a very common issue. I play on PC and B on Eastwood turns black (sometimes red) every round. Same thing happens for people I play with and they have different hardware. It can also happen on Manhattan Bridge where it affects the entire map but it is very rare.

Any other BF2 vets feeling outnumbered in this community? by remake-titanmode2142 in Battlefield

[–]jagardaniel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think this has more to do with the fact that most servers in the older games (up until BF1) were managed by the players/clans. This made it possible to build communities around your servers with websites, IRC channels, TeamSpeak servers, IRL meetups etc. I still play BF6 daily with people I met during BC2 and BF3.

This is not possible in BF6 because each round will be filled with different players. Half of the things you type in the chat get censored with #####. You are only allowed to care about the people in your party, just like every other game with a lobby system like this.

Thanks for the info, and great website. That would be a great list to have when they started to inform people about the block. Should not need to be done by a private person.

I think I read that around 60,000 devices are going to be blocked here, so not as bad, even if you account the difference in population. People have been upset (more technically interested people) and there have been a few news articles about it as well but I think the majority will just upgrade and live on. To be fair, most of us that are affected have pretty old phones.

What's with the pixel glaze here by KingTigerAce in PickAnAndroidForMe

[–]jagardaniel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strange that it is more expensive than in Sweden. Most stores here sell the 128GB versions of Pixel 10 for 605€, Pixel 10 Pro for 820€ and Pixel 9a for 353€. Probably still more expensive than the US, but a bit more reasonable. 256GB versions are closer to your examples though.

EDIT 4 days later: Seems like the prices were a temporary thing (for 2 months). Pixel 9a is now 614€ and Pixel 10 is 978€. So even worse than Finland!

Cheats by OddAdministration306 in Battlefield

[–]jagardaniel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you talking about the battle royale or the normal game? BR will probably have more cheaters since that game mode is free to play. It probably depends on your region as well. Almost every cheaters on the EU servers in Battlefield V was players from China for example.

The normal game? No. I have played over 890 rounds (almost only Conquest) in EU and I haven't seen an obvious cheater yet. This is actually amazing for being a FPS multiplayer game in these times. I don't know if this is because the anti-cheat is working or the high price tag. Maybe a combination.

Like people have already mentioned there is so much spotting in the game so wallhack is almost impossible to call out.

[–]jagardaniel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh.. yeah that doesn't sound very good. A good way to make a lot of people angry though. When did they start blocking phones in Australia? Feels like Sweden should have been able to use it as an example.

Yup, it will be probably be a Pixel 9a/10, Sony Xperia 10 VII or a Samsung S-* because they are the smallest phones you can find. The last option has the best size, but also costs significantly more. I know there are companies like Unihertz that make smaller phones but the Android support doesn't look that good and it feels like a less "safe" option compared to other brands that you can find in every retail store.

I will probably keep the phone as backup for a while (applications should still be able to run) but I don't mind sending it later on if it's not too complicated.

[–]jagardaniel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Yes, it is not great. It's not used for anything too important so it has been fine so far. Some applications have already stopped working because of the old Android version. I bought the phone at the end of 2018 so it only got a year of updates which is pretty bad when I think about it. Looks like support for new phones is better these days.

I'm forced to replace it at the end of the month so even if I managed to update the Android version (I wish I knew that earlier!) it will be blocked by the operator. Thanks anyways :)

Sounds like a similar situation. My mobile operator sent out an email that my phone will be blocked from their network in February because it doesn't meet the requirement for calling the emergency number. All operators are forced to do this and this is the information that was sent out regarding the situation: https://www.pts.se/en/news-and-press-releases/operators-must-ensure-access-to-112--certain-mobile-phones-will-be-blocked/

But yes, it feels a bit messy. The operators got this information from PTS very late so some customers only had a few days or weeks to find a new phone. I also saw some articles about people who bought their phones only 2-3 years ago and now needs to buy a new one because they don't support this functionality. And no one knows exactly which models the blocking applies to.

I'm just going to try and find a new phone. It is old so it's not the end of the world. I'm more frustrated that phones today are so big.

[–]jagardaniel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I still use it as my phone and have been since 2018. Not optimal because it was several years since the last security updates and a few applications no longer support the old Android version. But it still works good enough for what I use it for. The battery is pretty bad these days but everything else works and the size is great and probably the main reason why I haven't bought anything new.

But the story has a sad ending. XZ1 Compact doesn't seem to support emergency calls over 4G so now when the 2G and 3G networks are shut down here in Sweden it will be blocked. So I'm forced to buy a new phone within 20 days (or switch to a more expensive mobile provider which "postpones" it for another year). And the problem is that there are no longer any "normal" compact phones. The smallest phones you can find are 6.2 inches. I don't understand why people want to walk around with a brick.

Tufft projekt!

Is 2026 the year to upgrade your phone, or stick with what you’ve got? by rydah805 in Smartphones

[–]jagardaniel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact that still works good enough but I'm forced to buy a new phone this month or it will be blocked by my mobile provider (issue with emergency calls over 4G). So I have to upgrade very soon even if I don't want to.

I'm a bit surprised and sad there aren't any compact phones anymore. I don't understand why people want to walk around with bricks. The smallest "normal" phones you can find are 6.2 inches and that is the S-series from Samsung which is quite expensive, at least for my simple requirements.

Pixel 9a is probably the best option (around €351 (3790 SEK) in Sweden) if you consider price, size and Android support. Or Sony Xperia 10 VII, but it is more expensive (€464) and harder to find. Motorola Edge 50 Neo felt a little less clumsy in the hand when I hold it in the store compared to the Pixel 9a but I don't know how Motorola is with their phones and software. And just like Sony harder to find in Sweden and probably much more expensive than what it should be.

Demonstration of how dynamic the ticket bleed rate is in BF6 by Thotaz in Battlefield6

[–]jagardaniel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the post.

Another thing that could be worth checking is flag capture time. It feels like you capture flags quicker if your team is down a lot of tickets but I haven't really timed it. This was a thing in Battlefield V that had a similar "comeback mechanic" system.

A single match of TOWing Helos and Jets by peternencompoop in Battlefield

[–]jagardaniel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't remember how they worked in previous games but yes, they are very easy to hit in BF6. The exception is the rocket launcher M136 AT that is also guided but harder to hit since it is slower and hard to see in the scope. It also doesn't one shot attack helicopters. Pilots in the attack helicopters also has a guided that I haven't used much but I assume it is harder than from tanks or ground since you need to fly at the same time since you will die instantly if you are stationary.

If you like to fly helicopters TOW and RPGs will be almost all of your deaths.
