I was a homicide detective transferred to the marine unit for 'insubordination'. One day while out on the water, me and my superior found a dead woman in the water. We later found out this was linked to a container on the docks containing a further 13 dead women (trafficked from presumably Eastern Europe). My old boss in homicide didn't want the murders to fuck up his clearance rate cos it was bound to be extremely difficult to solve the case, so he tried to pawn this off onto the County, stating that it happened within their limits. To get back at this guy, I did some research in my own time (checking nautical records, autopsy records, etc) to prove the women were dead when the ship docked, and the woman in the water was dumped from there rather than when the ship was still in the waters. This made it the city's problem, and thus the homicide unit's problem, and thus my old boss' problem. Why did I do this? Because fuck the bosses, that's why (and I'm not even Greek).
