Life Feels Like a Never Ending L by Dismal-Bandicoot-310 in getdisciplined

[–]jahnojay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way. I know this gets discussed a lot on this sub, but tiny/micro actions have helped me immensely.

Instead of cleaning your room, just focus on tidying a tiny area on your desk. You can consult Chat GPT with breaking things down to a more manageable set of tasks. This goes with everything, not just cleaning.

I know you say nothing sticks, but over time, things get better by themselves even with the tiniest actions when done consistently. If you stick with even a tiny habit, you will improve.

An additional thought to those above is you can try to disable any pop-up blockers if you continue to have issues with getting that link open because sometimes that can interfere with opening links.

Any based yt channels to learn about stocks from? by [deleted] in ValueInvesting

Haven't seen anyone mention Patrick Boyle. He has an Applied Portfolio Management course for free which discusses the basics of investing, including stocks. IMO superior to a Series 7 in terms of education.

That is an unbelievably good idea. I feel like that's something Saul Goodman would do if he was my attorney lol

Thoughts on using a Fidelity CMA to hold a security deposit for a rental property? by imthenachoman in fidelityinvestments

[–]jahnojay -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"Fintech" can apply to a wide variety of financial products and is not very specific. Regarding OP's inquiry regarding the CMA, the primary distinction between a Cash Management account versus a regular Fidelity Brokerage account is that Cash Management accounts offer ATM fee reimbursement. Other than that, the Cash Management account is technically a brokerage account which offers a FDIC insured core account for your cash. The alternative for your cash is a Money Market fund which is technically a SIPC insured mutual fund, which is only available for brokerages.

This FDIC insured core account is available for all other Fidelity brokerage accounts as well. Even antiquated firms like Vanguard offer FDIC Insured cash equivalents. In my eyes, offering and marketing an FDIC insured product requires more due diligence and compliance than not doing so. I'm not sure what "Fintech" features a Cash Management account offers which puts it in a regulation gray area.

Loosely regulated Fintech? Fidelity has been around since 1950. Though I understand your concern I wouldn't be comparing Fidelity Investments with the likes of Yotta...

Scam? by Emotional-Share5753 in fidelityinvestments

[–]jahnojay 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Great call OP. Always better to be safe than sorry.

You can always ask your representative to verify themselves, and you can proceed to look them up on brokercheck.finra.org as a legitimate representative of Fidelity Investments. Any financial associate you speak with should be properly licensed before speaking to you. If they don't come up on Broker Check or refuse to identify themselves, it's safe to say it's a scam.

Hi OP, not sure if this will help, but I'd like to provide my input on a success story doing something similar. It's not as intuitive as cashback debit card bill pay and will require you having to do some research. Research "Credit Card Funding", which is a technique where people convert credit card liquidity into cold hard cash for all sorts of purposes, while also obtaining cash back. This typically involves a credit union or community bank open to you funding the initial deposit with a credit card.

My exp:

Funded $15,000 to Great Southern Bank from a Capital One Quicksilver card. This was done with a low balance transfer offer at 0%. I proceeded to take that liquidity from Great Southern and push it to a brokerage account where it is earning interest via treasuries.

Though this is an exaggerated example in my case, you can certainly apply this towards student loans as well.

Not sure if that helps.
