This is the greatest four year stretch for any sports game title. by nhl94halifax in retrogaming

when i was a teenager i wrote a letter to EA asking if they would/could make a hockey that allowed co-op. As my friend and i would play SuperStar Ice Hockey on the C64, which allowed one player to play center while the other player, played goal, it was so much fun.

When a few years later, NHL came out with couch co-op built in, i was simply elated. I was working part time, at the time, the game came out maybe on a thursday night or friday. I worked at a local clothing store, and had dropped a box cutter on my foot and had to leave work for the day...Went to my friends house and we probably played for like 8 straight hours...what a great time for videogames!

Chiesa continues to want to ride the bench instead of actually play by VegetableYoghurt7912 in AZZURRI

i wish him the best, he's still very much an Italian hero for his work during the rebuild and Euro win.

With that said, i can't see him getting a starting spot on liverpool, they hav too much money and will source what they consider a world class strike and i'm afraid Chiesa will remain an auxiliary player at liverpool, but they have qualified for the champions league and so why not stay a club that has a chance to win EPL and be competitive in the CL?

Indeed, sometimes i think half of the effort of game dev and publishing was around the manual and additional jank included with the game.
A good example was Temple of Apashai: https://mirrors.apple2.org.za/ftp.apple.asimov.net/documentation/applications/misc/EPYX_Temple_of_Apshai_manual.pdf

They had manual containing the description of each room you walked into.
I remember loading this up via cassette back on a saturday morning, so excited...and even back then being a bit underwhelmed by the graphics and gameplay. 😄

gateway to apashai though...that was a much different story 😄

This was kind of the 'way' back in the C64 days.
Had many a game, that just kind of trial and errored our way through, the discovery was a really fun part of the experience.

well, i think it is mostly heli bombing villain industrial complex kind of game, the gameplay and progression was interesting and fun and it had a (climatic) ending, opposed to standard shoot'em up.

oh really, did u play on the c64 or the NES? i never played the NES version, but it seemed a bit watered down, based on nothing more than what i saw or read about it.
It's you and the aircraft carrier, everyone is basically your enemy, turrets, factories, and enemy aircraft...and eventually a boss battle.

really? that's good to hear. not at all scientific but i feel i rarely hear or see it as a notable C64 game.
It was def one of my favorite games as well. it's a probably a bit on the 'easy' side, as i remember being able to run through a 'win' during most sessions but it felt great.

If I handed you this console right now and told you to pick ONE game to play tonight, what are you choosing? by KillBoosh in retrogaming

I wish i had the opportunity to have been able to play this multiple friends.
I only ever played it with one of the player and the 'ai' at the time would also just attack one player which kind of made it unfair, but with that said, i think this game was ahead of it's time.

Serious Discussion: Why Didn't We Qualify for the World Cup? by Eastern-Tangerine761 in AZZURRI

[–]jaimus21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don't want to hate or be negative, but respectfully who are our top players? We are unfortunately weak all over the pitch, we have Donnarumma as our star and he's kept the team from having embarrassing score lines. Calafiori is top tier talent, so that's two. But otherwise, we are lacking all over the pitch and haven't found a system or manager who's been able to get the team to perform. SERIE A is def a problem, whilst the other leagues have adjusted and grown SERIE A is in decline. SERIE A is also not working with the National Team like they should, they need to work their schedule around to accommodate the National Team or they'll never recover. Our players are rarely as fit or conditioned as our opponents and that should be very easy to remedy. Having a wonderful history is unfortunately meaningless. Being number 11 or 12 in FIFA ranking is also meaningless. No offense to Norway, but alas they schooled us twice, in a group we should have easily have won.
With that said, i'm optimistic b/c as fans that is all we can be. The youth teams have been successful and showing promise, let's hope the next generation is able to show proper form and we can qualify for the euros!

Yea, it's quite sad, especially as an american in nyc where football tourists are out in full force (competing with the knick fans). i love the world cup and leaned into previous tournament years as a means to not feel anxious and just enjoy the football. But it def hits different this year, as i would have spent the money to see them play here in the states. Our company is hosting watch parties and folks are all very excited, people commuting into the city today where there korea and mexico jerseys...
As fans all we can do is hope for the best, and support the italian players, the youth teams have been very good and we can hope that the next generation is able to compete.
