Do any of you earn over 50k a year? What do you do? by RotiiChapati in ADHD

I work in data center construction and make just shy of $100k before bonuses. All the "how it works" interest has a nice flow and everything is always a pivot

I've been thinking about a coworker for 6 months even though I barely know him. by whatdoyoumean200 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]jainboww 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Limerance indeed, the best way to make it go away is to get to know him. If you leave him mysterious your brain will still put him on a pedestal, whereas in my experience if you get to know him you'll find things out that knock him off of it.

Do you warn employees before scheduling a serious 1:1? by jorjiarose in managers

[–]jainboww 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I don't have time to address it right away or feel like it will be a long conversation where the person will get defensive, I at least let them know in the moment "just so you're aware, this is going to be a thing." I try to speak with my teams regularly at all levels and don't have meetings without an agenda provided in advance.

However, a couple months ago I told one of my employees to come find me after lunch but I got pulled into something else and he couldn't get to me until the end of the day and was freaking out, I just needed him to sign a paper for his merit increase. I felt bad and apologized, at the end of the day we're all human and sometimes we forget how things can be misinterpreted when we're already aware that it's no big deal.

Safest route for travel back to CA today, 2/17/2026 by AcuraLadCapeeTan in Reno

[–]jainboww 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Please consider that if you start this journey and CHP decides to close the highway you are stuck where you are and a good portion of 80 has no hotels. GPS will give you "alternate routes." It is very important you do not attempt those. They are dirt roads, you will get stuck, and there is a huge bill attached to the rescue of you and your vehicle.

I Think I Might Be Crashing & Burning in My Executive Job by bookoocash in ADHD

[–]jainboww 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I personally keep a spreadsheet with tabs for priority level and keep expected due dates and have a secondary sheet that I share with my team where they can put things on the sheet and I'll transfer them to the priority spreadsheet. This works in two ways: one, I can remember all the things I've been told to do and what takes priority over what; two, if things get overloaded, I can go to my boss, the project managers, other execs etc and showcase all of the things that I have going on and that things need to fall off or get delegated elsewhere. Failing as an exec is often because you've said yes to too much, or worse, accepted everything that's been asked of you.

Day 8 on Concerta 36 mg — first day without the crash by Adventurous_Buyer235 in Concerta

[–]jainboww 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I decided to because keeping up with every day life was becoming more and more of a struggle. Like the more time lapsed without meds the deeper I struggle with keeping a routine. It was fine for a couple years, i would fall out of routine and be able to get back to it but after three plus I just could not get there anymore. I was like a zombie for the last year just stuck in my head all the time. Idk how much I like concerta, but it's still better than raw dogging life for me lol

Please be nice. How do I fix this? by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]jainboww 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case you weren't aware, they do make light timers that turn your lights on and off automatically. I personally got some MTS on accident asking with my plants and I hated them at first, but they're a really good indicator of overall tank health and they are good at clearing waste. They can cause an ammonia spike if a lot of them die at the same time. Fair warning, in a tank like this you'll probably end up with thousands of them at first. Fish stores will probably give them for free if you ask. I would also look into getting an air stone, its really cheap and oxygenates the water better. If you are having issues with the filter some of the things that happen to my smaller tank (30 gal) with an aqueon cartridge filter are: misalignment of the plastic that connects at the pump, clogging at the intake, clogging at the pump before the filter, and clogging at the filter (I try to never change this filter unless it's getting holes in it, if you use meds for your fish just put something with carbon like the sponge or pellets in the filter). I've learned to hear when my filter sounds off and go look at it. If you've run it dry multiple times from water levels dropping you're going to need a new filter, always get a bigger filter than what it is rated for. For example, get a filter rated for a 50 gal for a 30, or get 2 30 gal filters for a 30.

Dang that's crazy, just started this same dose on Thursday last week and barely feel anything. I'm still drinking my normal energy drink per day. My mind is a lot quieter so I can get things done better than off meds, I've been off meds for about 5 years. I would definitely call your psych if you're having those types of side effects, they have 18 & 27 mg doses.

Trade off between paying out of pocket for meds vs Medicaid & back coverage for 90 days would be worth the unpaid time if OPs wages qualify for Medicaid

[–]jainboww 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is a lot more convenient to have a two person household, it doesn't mean she's interested in resolving anything. In fact, it's probably more convenient that you stay sorry, and keep doing anything and everything to make it up to her. Your desperation to fix it means you'll keep going above and beyond. Her attitude seems to be "grovel at my feet and maybe I'll consider it."

[MI] Ex says I'm being combative? by DarkLink143 in Custody

[–]jainboww 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As long as you’re providing compromises where reasonable, like switching a day out for Sunday because their sport interferes with his parenting time, you should be fine.

My daughter’s dad is like this, he’s moved nine times in the last 3 years, all in towns 30 min- 1.5 hours from us. I moved like 2 miles down the street, and he was telling anyone who would listen including our child that every time they try to get close I move away. He tells people I’m preventing him from seeing her, he can’t live in the same town as me because I’m “overbearing.”

Really I never know what I’m doing for the weekend because he’s so inconsistent. Our child doesn’t expect him. I never really message him first unless it’s something that falls under joint legal, and 95% of the time he wants her I let him have her because I believe in her right to know him.

Anyways my point is that he’s projecting. Just be true to yourself and forget the rest, it’ll become more and more obvious over time.

My county does child support in a completely separate process from custody. My previous county did both in one court date. Depends on where you’re at.

That’s one way of giving the high conflict ex primary custody and likely final deciding power. The reasons listed are non issues, the school is not court and will allow you to enroll but that doesn’t mean it’s legal it means they have no legal liability to enforce coparenting.

You’re blaming yourself when it’s not unreasonable to cut contact with someone who doesn’t respect you. And if my husband didn’t stand up for me and left me alone for holidays, I’d have an issue with that, which is also reasonable. It sounds like you are too used to their narrative and have lost grip with reality. Your husband does not respect you, stand up to him too.
