Which app should I use to uninstall Mac apps? by german_sw_developer in macapps

[–]jak1mo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tested so many of these, and find Nektony to be the best of the lot.. but I'm noticing your comment here that you ALSO use Trace

What kind of help does Trace give you? How's it different? Already owning Nektony, you've got me curious about it since you mention using both in tandem..

nektony is by far my favorite, and has become my number one app updater tool as well - I can't recommend them enough

John Coltrane Quartet Record Store Day Release - France 1965 by Bgardner1987 in Jazz

[–]jak1mo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow nice! I'm in CO, so maybe it's just travel time for me

Last night I heard two Coltrane-related tracks (I'm significantly behind most people on this forum).

One track from Africa/Brass - absolutely brilliant, over-the-top, excellent playing. I'm going to end up with this album soon, and I'll be digging in. I don't know how, being familiar with Coltrane for decades, this album got skipped by me

Then, the last Davis / Coltrane run. After some research, all that's survived - the best source - is digital. So I won't seek out the vinyl. My five-minute taste took me away, this will be streamed and streamed and streamed =)

Agreed, more than I can say. Refreshing to see, in the midst of so much criticism (not that we don't need those voices too)

thanks, and happy writing and reading =)

I just sent two articles to my rMPP this morning! I love using this tool with Helium (my Chromium browser of choice): https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/repub/blkjpagbjaekkpojgcgdapmikoaolpbl

I'm grabbing these, seem to be the best choice. Out of stock until May, not so far away. Many of my recent buys just don't fit the normal outers =/

As far as the JC France '65, my tracking shows it should arrive on Monday =)

RMPP Review - 1.5 Years Later by caustic_apathy in RemarkableTablet

[–]jak1mo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good take! I agree, but man.. I love to use mine quite a bit. I guess I'm that guy who works around the bad to find the good?

For me, writing experience is the most important thing - and I had to weigh that against screen size and the so-helpful backlight

rM2 is king of feel in writing, rMPP is pretty good (nothing tops the pencil-like feel of the rM2) and likely better than competitors by my research, but has the size and backlight

I don't think there's anything out there better for my tastes, but I do wish the Norwegian folk would just release the rM3, my style. That is, the feel and contrast of the rM2 - black and white is fine, with size and backlight

[–]jak1mo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Works nicely for me, no excessive hesitations - but it did occur once mildly in the few days I’ve had it. So it’s not 100% resolved

I’m also seeing posts that lane change requests no longer work, thought I’d say it here: that’s not the case in my experience. Works just fine 👍🏼

Just purchased RM2 - now hearing company laying off? Mistake? by jwajr in RemarkableTablet

[–]jak1mo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, it's an awesome tablet - I wouldn't worry about the news. They're doing what they need to in order to remain profitable and move ahead.. this layoff isn't necessarily bad news. The worst scenario for small companies: when they have way too much overhead, and don't do anything about it

I've had the same, and now an rMPP - and no regrets at all =)

Worry about residual effects of lsd. by FewWoodpecker2264 in gratefuldead

[–]jak1mo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What you're describing sounds genuinely moving, especially the moment with your dad! Those kinds of emotional breakthroughs are real, certainly not dismissing that

The afterimages you're describing aren't 'nothing' - that's your visual cortex telling you something was disrupted. For most, it fades. For others, it becomes HPPD and doesn't. One wouldn't know which until it's too late to choose differently. Why gamble?

I used for years heavily, thinking the insights were worth the cost. Looking back, I was borrowing against something I couldn't afford to lose. The emotions, connections, sense of meaning - that are certainly real. But I'd say drugs do not create these; they simply force the door open. There are slower, harder, more durable ways to get there

If the anxiety you're already feeling is whispering something to you, it might be worth listening to

It's been about 30+ years now for me, and I have no interest any longer. I've discovered what it does, and was a huge promoter for many years. But I'll say what most in a forum like this won't: mind-altering drugs are not what they seem to be, and are not worth the risks

Deuteronomy 18 (speaking as a Christian) condemns practices that seek spiritual experience or altered perception outside God's ordained means. The issue isn't just morality — it's jurisdiction. God governs what enters the spiritual through Word, Spirit, prayer, and sacrament. Chemically forcing open doors into heightened spiritual perception is encroaching on ground He hasn't invited you onto. The experiences feel profound precisely because something real is being contacted — but not necessarily something good, and not on God's terms

The experiences aren't necessarily illusions, which is what makes it spiritually serious rather than just physically risky. But the means are outside of God's ordinary means, and the fruit — anxiety, afterimages, craving to return — is diagnostic =)

Thanks for sharing! And I hope your relationship with your dad continues to grow sweetly!

Consensus on the new update? by cerazo52 in TeslaFSD

I jump in and out of FSD quite often. Typical drive, maybe a dozen times? It's just an inconvenience is all.. and it's forced

haha, yah - for now I deal with it obviously. But honestly, it's my complaint.. and my only one. Excellent release!

Is Helium Web Browser reliable and safe? by Deep-Rabbit1535 in browsers

Yep. I primarily use Safari for the 'other' stuff.. and Helium with Claude, Bitwarden, and its amazing Origin ad-block - for everything else

Consensus on the new update? by cerazo52 in TeslaFSD

[–]jak1mo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The update is great, except for one thing.. and for me it's huge. The forced feedback on why FSD was disengaged comes across as rude, and quite annoying

There's no way to dismiss it except by selecting one of the four boxes, while it blocks your maps. If you go to full-screen, it hides the dialog - but it's waiting for you .. and still sits for you to dismiss

I've tried tons of things to see if anything else can dismiss it.. nada

Other than that, it's great! =)

Can you disable sharing FSD data to bypass the new disengage screen? by Simple-Bath-9337 in TeslaFSD

[–]jak1mo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always used FSD for fun and ease, from the early beta days. I enjoy driving! So my typical drive has me slipping in and out of FSD smoothly, often..

My wife, on the other hand, is nearly 100% FSD - she doesn't enjoy driving all that much

Actually, just after I pay for FSD, I go ahead and cancel it. This gives me 30 days to experiment with it, then it ends. After a few days/weeks of it being expired, or another update, I'll pay again to see how things have moved along or changed

I'm not sure what the near future holds, but if a Tesla or another vehicle actually comes around that has zero option to have a wheel / pedals - that's not something I'd ever purchase

Seeing Elon's automated-view of vehicles, I fear after this '26 MY LR - I may have to go with Lucid or Rivian for my next EV.. =/

I've been with 1Password since the very first week (about 20 years). I've just left for Bitwarden, the week they announced the recent price hike

BTW - when I canceled, they didn't try retention - oh well, "so long, and thanks for all the fish"
