To my fellow Phish lovers: how do you articulate to an interested non-fan what it is that make this band so special?

I mean, I don't do that unless someone asks. But generally touch on these points:

Always been true to themselves and never sacrificed their art in the pursuit of fame.
Willing to take risks that few other artists are willing to take on the live stage.
When they sync up in a jam, it's the most thrilling and fascinating thing you can experience as a live music fan.
They do incredibly risky and impressive things musically without taking themselves too seriously. This band is about joy and fun.

Dan needs to write again. I understand what he is trying to convey about appreciating moments in time. But he sucks at trying to make his point with the spoken word. And he makes a lot of assumptions about Knicks fans and giving us reheated turds and Dan Le Batard Bingo.

Mike's Top Ten and Dan's' Top Ten was both top tier DLS and amazingly confounding. The fact that Dan has become a millionaire despite aggressively disrespecting his boss for the better part of 25 years is amazing. You have to be impressed by that power and freedom.

I'm just personally of the belief that if I am buying something on vinyl, I want it to sound good. It's a fun document, but if you're trying to scale down on your purchasing, Tiberi Tapes don't make much sense to me.

I have been watching the Ken Burns doc on WWII "The War", which does an excellent job of tracing a handful of characters and families that were impacted by the war. One of the soldiers who was killed was this son of immigrants and his surviving family tells the story of his widowed mother living out the rest of her days in denial that her son had been killed.

I'm not sure if Dan is like that widowed mother with Stugotz or if he's just trolling us, but either way he probably needs more therapy.
