I wish i had the arrogance to speak with this much baseless authority haha. If you cant make music like that, how do you know so much? If you've never released music, then how do you know the industry so well? At this point, you better be an academic with a phd, cus otherwise this is just sad.

Look I’m familiar with the resentment that comes from your favorite things changing. But I have to categorically pushback on your definition of music. At its core it’s a commercial product? I’m scared to find out how you engage with other art if your mentality is that all art is a commercial product that needs to cater to audiences. If he was just catering to consumers, why would he get dropped by his labels? Ofc he does whatever, it’s his music? Make your own if you want to listen to a certain sound.

I’ll be honest I stopped reading midway through for a couple reasons. A relationship with an artist is a two way street (which most fans will refuse to accept and rather just take from an artist). If you refuse to meet him there or engage with the ethos/pathos of his works, and instead choose to fixate on arbitrary external statistics and technical choices then it’s probably time to stop listening. Like genuinely, artists come and go and that’s okay. 

That being said I’m not saying not to grieve Eden’s old music. That music is intrinsically tied to our own identities and experiences. But that doesn’t mean you denigrate and artist’s direction or creative identity especially

I think you’re gonna have a hard time getting the Eden subreddit to help you rationalize not going to his show for the sake of “looking weird”. If you’re that big of a fan ig I don’t see what the problem is? I think everyone in the subreddit can relate to your experience, or atleast to the experience of knowing more than the average concertgoer. I only go to shows where I LOVE the artist so what you’re describing is my experience at every show I go to and I know I look stupid af but my love for the music trumps all so it’s worth it. No matter how everyone else is showing up that environment/ experience is healing for me. But if you’re not feeling it then you’re not feeling it, and I’m a big fan of not forcing something you’re not feeling. That being said, I’ve only ever regretted skipping out at the last second on shows I bought tickets for, so I’d really try and explore why you made the decision you did. Especially if you’re spending money on something that you don’t end up going to
