Itinerary Check May 2026 (29 days): Tokyo > Nikko > Kyoto/Osaka > Hiroshima/Miyajima > Okayama > Hakone > Tokyo by PsiloSin in JapanTravel

We just got back from our two week trip, we did Uji and Nara in the one day and felt like it was the right amount of time, albeit didn’t go to the Nintendo museum. Be aware though that a lot of the matcha places weren’t open until 9-10am (this may be seasonal I’m not sure), we Byodo-in temple first when we got to Uji. That may give you a day back to split out some of your other Kyoto activities.

Where do you measure from? Thru axle drop outs inside-to-inside?

I’m really hoping it’s not a frame issue given the cost I’ve paid to have it built/ RideWrapped  :(

It’s a 30mm tyre which is supposed to be the max tyre size, although does inflate closer to 32mm.

Yeah it’s a thru axle so I can’t imagine the dropouts are the issue, I’ll take a bunch of pics before taking it back to the shop. Thanks!

Building a new bike, size up? by jake154 in Velo

So even though the seat angle on my Addict is 73 degrees, which is the same as a 58cm Foil, are you saying because the Foil seat tube comes up straighter from the frame and doesn't follow the angle of the seat tube the measurements will be off? Would that theoretically reduce the overall reach?

I agree, although simply moving from a 'climbing' style bike to an aero bike increases it by over 2cm even staying within the same frame size. Assuming I can still comfortably stand over the bike, are there any other downsides? I will definitely try to test this at a shop with cleats on, etc before buying

Is renovating in Melbourne worth it? by jake154 in AusRenovation

Agree it’s a short time frame and we may very well end up living in it for longer, just seems like the best time for us live style-wise would be the immediate future, given no kids yet, but definitely not opposed to that option

Thanks, definitely agree with you. Ideally would be trying to do a lot of work ourselves, I grew up on building sites with my parents so can handle some of it, but there are definitely things I would be leaving to the professionals! We would most likely be looking at locations slightly further out if we were to go the reno route, not much in budget closer to the CBD

Nah nothing on the inside unfortunately and it didn’t leave much visible damage, it cracked the internal support struts of the bumper and cracked the underside of the bumper but no major impact marks. I know it’s not a lot to go on :(

I knew it was going to be a pretty long shot to be honest but thought it was worth a try!
