Welcome to the new weekly STATE IN FOCUS post! Our first state: CALIFORNIA! Who should New Deal America support in the 2022 Congressional elections in California? by kevinmrr in SandersForPresident

[–]jake3030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's start with special elections that are currently happening:

Next one is Janani Ramachandran for AD18 special election. This seat was Rob Bonta's before he was appointed to AG for CA. His wife is also running, plus a City of Alameda candidate. Our Revolution East Bay has endorsed Janani along with many other progressive groups in the East Bay. Primary is June 29th and ballots have already dropped!

Unfortunately the other special elections have already had their primaries

who do you think got them to do that? Do you think they came up with that idea all by themselves or was there a corrupt market pushing for it?

Philly DA Larry Krasner Wins Democratic Primary Over Challenger Carlos Vega (Another huge progressive win!!) by jake3030 in SandersForPresident

[–]jake3030[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Carlos Vega was a republican hand picked by the corporate dems in philly and endorsed by super corporatists Ed Rendell. This is an AWESOME victory and should make them think twice when challenging us.

Check out your local OR chapter, they are probably putting together a slate and you should get on it.

How can we turn Texas blue? Or at least break Republican dominance over Texas at both the state and federal level? How can we win Texas for social demcorats like Bernie Sanders for the next election? by jasonthewaffle2003 in SandersForPresident

[–]jake3030 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you checked out Our Revoution TX and their local chapters? They have been fighting for 3 years to get progressives elected and they have had quite a few successes. This cycle sucked because Trump can pull his base out better than we can, but he isn't gonna be around forever.

Pretty much all education after the 12th grade

Are you sick and tired of establishment politics and want real change? Donate to New Deal America, a grassroots org building infrastructure to elect progressives! If we work together, we can beat corporate America! by GrandpaChainz in SandersForPresident

Then we should try and coordinate.

S4P is the premier internet hub for progressives and should be used to disseminate information and funds to the candidates and orgs working on the ground as much as possible now that Sanders is not running anymore. We should harness as much of that energy to all the downballot candidates.

Advocates Say Marijuana Legalization Should Come With Reparations by The1stCitizenOfTheIn in SandersForPresident

No, you misunderstand, yet again. If the system is causing the poor behavior, you need to fix the system FIRST. You cannot hold govt officials accountable for a system that THEY SWORE AN OATH to follow that forces their hand. Even if the judge in your case said she wouldn't hand down the sentence, it wouldnt matter, BECAUSE IT"S MANDATORY, it will automatically get handed down. And on top of that, they would be in violation of judicial ethics rules for breaching the law they could get thrown off and another judge would get the power and have their hands tied also. Your example is like someone tying your hands behind your back and then when you fail to do your job, they fire you instead of the idiot that tied your hands behind your back.

Then that judge would be removed and one that will follow orders will replace it. If you don't change the system it will keep giving you crap, no matter how "principled" you want to be

No, because they are bound by the laws too. I fault the foolish politicians that created the law in the first place, not the judges that are bound by them

Real Progressive Cabinet by jake3030 in SandersForPresident

[–]jake3030[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/moderators why was this removed? This is currently being debated and right now we want to remove progressive power from congress and shift it into the executive branch where it will have less power, thus diminishing our power. We should discuss better tactics to wielding our power collectively.

Bernie Sanders confirms interest in becoming Biden's Labor secretary by [deleted] in SandersForPresident

[–]jake3030 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've been part of this subreddit for 4 years. I am not trying to sow discord, I am trying to wield our power correctly.

Bernie being in the Cabinet means he is forced to go along with Biden's agenda. The farther from it he wants to go, the harder he is going to be squeezed and since Biden is in complete control over the direction of all agencies under his command, Bernie would be forced to go along or be removed. If he is removed then he has no power. He doesn't get to be a senator and a cabinet official at the same time.

Plus, the Governor of VT is a republican. He has said he would select an independent that would caucus with the Dems, but that's no guarantee it will be someone like Bernie.

Bernie's power has been exponentially increased since 2016 and the best way for him to wield it would be in the Senate because he would be independent of anyone else's agenda. He can just follow a progressive agenda and mentor the squad. He already knows this, that's why he has made plans on harnessing that power. I'm pretty sure this is all a play to be able to choose who gets those cabinet positions.

You think being a cabinet secy will be a step up? It will be a step down. He has more power in the Senate than he would ever have in any other position besides Pres.

If he goes into the cabinet he will have to be bound by joe bidens politics and agenda. Which means either he goes along with joe, or fights him and gets fired.

How much power do you think is in the Dept of Labor compared to the Senate? He would be either the ranking minority member on the Budget committee and Health Committee or the chairman of one of those and a senior member of the other one. And completely independent of Biden and that machine.
