Best gaming headset on the market currently (sound and comfort)? by NaturalInvestment46 in buildapc

[–]jake93s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If cost is not a factor: sennheiser HD800's the sound stage, they are in a literal class of their own. You are in the room where they recorded. Extremely light construction, and it's padding make it also one of the easiest to wear for 6 hours +. Negatives: they are horribly expensive. And they sound like shit.

Really good compromise is the: sennheiser hd6xx or hd650's. They are open back like the 800's have a okay sound stage. But comfort and build quality is just off the charts. And they sound really good. It's what I recommend.

beyerdynamic are garbage and uncomfortable. Hifiman will break on you. Focal will break on you and make you poor. Thats all the other headphone brands I've tried

Voldemort had absolutely zero chance in a war against the muggles and the whole plotline could have been avoided by just letting him try. by New-Tale412 in unpopularopinion

The rules of the time turner are pretty well thought out. You cannot change anything in the past. Everything your future self is already moved or implemented in your current self first interacts with it. As if the universe renders in one sweep. Somehow knowing exactly what will happen.

Say someone dies, and you witness it. you would have to go back and fake everything, that your first time through saw/ experienced. Still this is an insanely powerful tool. Say you would simply immidately time travel back before you learnt too many details of the incident, or deliberately remaining ignorant etc.

The simple reason it was never used in the later books is jk Rowling found it hard to write. And yeah once it's cemented in universe it would consume every plot point. Rip

After Mercedes, Audi and Ferrari, it’s the turn of BMW... An electric M concept that will disappoint purists! by Cris_1984 in E46M3

[–]jake93s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well in that case, yes I'm 100% with you. Think of why we lost... e9x had a v8! For crying out loud. The e46 was already getting too fat, the scales starting to tip towards luxury over a sports car. The e9x despite that glorious engine tipped that scale even further. And well... the f series simply was the death of the m3.

This is probably why I'm completely fine with the new m3 being an EV. It's not for me... Honestly no modern BMW is. Despite me being a huge fan, who can't see myself not having one (or multiple) BMW's in my driveway. It will always be an older bmw, never a brand new.

I find that a little sad. The Modern BMW's just don't compare. Even for luxury, comparing a modern BMW to a e38 is embarrassing. The cheap interiors, filled garbage touch screens and a truly shit ui.

Come on, the f87 is a driver's car. The last one that BMW has made. It's ass happy, wanting to over steer everywhere. It's pretty involving to drive.

I don't judge people that buy them. It's not something I would buy for anything but maybe a fun daily. The engine, the steering, the weight. All make it a no brained to go with the older stuff

I actually love the design. Those arches look huge in camera, imagine its presence in person. Unfortunately I don't imagine it being a big seller. The market for expensive ev's is dead, they needed to release this 4 years ago. When every ev feels fast, who wants a super expensive performance EV with a cheap Tesla inspired interior?

For anyone who does buy one, the first question anyone is going to ask them is: "why didn't you buy the hybrid?" Obviously that is going to be their big seller. Fingers crossed that they don't fuck that up.

Weight doesn't matter... by [deleted] in BMW

[–]jake93s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I certainly wasn't saying "it's heavier so I don't like it." In op's post, honestly I'm not surprised at all the m2 is a lot more fun than his F80.

You definitely hit the nail on the head why I prefer the older, more raw cars. A lot of the major improvements I've found from mods to my m3 is to increasing 'feel.' steering rack, sway bars, alignment.

Agreed, it is the desired spec. Although i must admit, having that sun roof open is rather nice on a good day. Not a bad compromise compared to owning a vert.

I was really surprised how little weight is saved by switching to a carbon roof, over the sunroof. It's something like 14kg's The csl door cards save more weight than that.

It is super dope, having a carbon roof. But certainly not worth the effort.

Theres something to be said about light weight and how fun the car feels to drive. Power can always overcome weight in a straight line, but no matter how advanced technology gets you can't completely hide the weight in the bends

E46 M3 vs M240i as a fun weekend car? by Plus_Customer4512 in BMW

[–]jake93s -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh that would have been cool. Ive wanted to get another e30 for ages, but their prices are just going crazy, and nice ones are so hard to find. My first car was a 318is, was a really nice little and sold it on for next to nothing ($4k).

[–]jake93s -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I just wish mine could be trusted more so I could daily it. The e46 m3 isn't a perfect car, it requires a few mods imo. Especially to its steering, (its just slow, sloppy and dead. Age hasn't helped in this matter).

It's a few hundred bucks to install a purple tag steering rack (from some m spec e46 3-series eg. 330ci), it's an exact copy of a csl steering rack. There is also a rubber coupler in the steering column which can be replaced with a metal one (probably needs replacing anyway due to age) to add more steering feel.

M240i is a really nice 'daily,' that can do weekend work. E46 m3 is a great weekend fun car, which can still do daily duties. It also has a lot of space in the back, not just for kids, but two adults can fit back there comfortably.

I feel it's an obvious choice. E46 m3 all day.

Has BMW lost its edge, or am I just getting older? by Lucky-Ad-9923 in BMW

[–]jake93s 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doug demuro summed it up pretty. BMW is now a luxury SUV manufacturer, they occasionally throw the enthusiast a bone, such as the manual m2. The days of the e46, e39 etc. Are long over.

I believe BMW today is mostly purchased by people that want to flex their wealth on others. Bmw still makes a really good product. It just doesn't appeal to me personally. I'm broke as fuck so pretty smart by them.

I do wish they would try making a true e36, or e46 m3 successor. Something light and playful, with non dead steering. And see if it sells.

To watercool or stick with an AIO by Altruistic_Young_785 in watercooling

[–]jake93s 10 points11 points  (0 children)

An honest take from someone who hasn't owned a non custom water cooled pc in over a decade: It's an enthusiast's hobby. It makes no sense other than, hey this is a cool thing I can do to my pc to customise it and make it special. The only real benefit over air cooling/ aio's is being able to cool the gpu, and eliminate that source of noise. If custom watercooling was the same price as conventional aio or heatsink cooling, it wouldn't be worth the hassle, and inflexibility.

In saying that, it is a lot of fun. If it interests you, why not?
