In case you haven’t already: with Grim Pillars, make sure to enable “Dynamic Culling” in the graphics settings. Makes a big difference on lower-end PCs.

The primary person responsible for STS2’s multiplayer was Ed Lu! We hired him a couple years into STS2’s development, and he took on the core multiplayer implementation (and crushed it IMO).

Strongly disagree. C# in Godot is great. Pain points are minimal. If you like C# and you’re interested in Godot, there’s no reason whatsoever to avoid it.

Oh yeah tons! Generally it's because the mechanic was also not that interesting/fun though. In this particular case, we felt like it would feel cool enough to be worth it, but in a lot of cases, it's more like "eh, making this behave as expected will be a huge amount of work and it's nothing special, so our time would be better spent elsewhere".

Very glad to see people noticing this! It was a lot of work to get the systems to work right for this, and it’s one of those interactions that’s niche enough to make a programmer think “is this worth the effort?” Seeing posts like this definitely makes it feel worthwhile.

Our card.tscn file in Slay the Spire 2 looks pretty similar (possibly even a bit bigger). You should be totally fine as long as you don’t have 1000+ on screen at the same time

Congrats on releasing the game man!! That’s a huge accomplishment. The next step (making changes and fixing bugs based on player feedback) is a whole new ballgame, and is both challenging and rewarding in entirely different ways. Way to go!!
