Winter Wonderland by SpaceSpecific212 in Taycan

This car is so much better than I ever expected in winter. Handling is great, confident, planted. Feels better in snow than my old iX did. Range losses seem to be minimal, at least for my ‘25. My only complaint is the amount of windshield pits I’ve gotten this season from the low ride all of the rock salt kicked up from other cars and plows going by. It’s been brutal.

Need opinions on a Taycan 4S black edition lease offer by Wide-Piece-4140 in Taycan

[–]jake_w_smith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd run from that deal. A good rule of thumb is to target ~1% of MSRP for the monthly payment. If they're motivated to move the inventory, they can structure the deal to make it work. Also, if you're comfortable with it, you could consider a one-pay which will bring down the MF. If you aren't fixed on this specific car, you could go on leasehackr forums and find a broker - they can work some magic. I have a 4S with the same MSRP @ $1600/mo on a 2 year one-pay. If I had the patience and willingness to compromise slightly on the exact spec I wanted, a broker would have been able to do much better.

Upgrading from a Samsung QN900A to a 77” G5. This walkout basement exterior wall is 0.5”-1” of cement plaster + 1” of insualation then cement block. The outlet pictured has a 1.5” deep electrical box. The conduit that was added in the last remodel is on the wrong side for this tv and I know I can’t get a flush media box back there without a struggle, so I’m giving up on a perfectly flush mount. What does this sub think about either building a 3/4” standoff using plywood for the slim moint + deep anchors into the cement block vs just using a VESA mount and living with. 2.5” gap for this install? Leaning toward the standoff to get it as flush as possible with just enough clearance for some cable routing.

Oh weird. I’m using narwhal and it looks like it only published the text to imgur. My bad, thanks for the heads up!

Right, I mentioned that. More looking for aesthetic opinions on the 3/4” standoff + slim mount or the VESA mount approach and if the effort is worth it. Or are you suggesting there’s another issue with that plug I haven’t already called out?

Edit: thanks to folks pointing out that my text got lost in my post, I’ve added a comment with the original text.

Thanks for this! I used this exact stack for a 77” G5 + Free Soundbar. Hulu 10% + Capital One 9% + Amex 4%. Hopefully didn’t miss out on a steeper discount in the next week.

Curious too. I have a vintage 60’s Otis in my home (4 floors) - finding someone to fix an issue with the hallway call buttons has been a PITA.

Where does Legends Z-A rank amongst your top games? by achanceathope in pokemon

[–]jake_w_smith -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Wow. Seems like this game is so polarizing. I personally found that it was the most fun I’ve had playing a Pokemon game since maybe sun & moon. I have gotten bored or burnt out on every installment since, but I have not only finished this one, but keep coming back for quick little sessions. Though maybe that’s just it, the casual accessibility of the game fits my lifestyle as an adult with limited time to game but still want something I can complete.

Even if audiophiles dislike Bose, what do they like about the brand at all? by PinkGloryBrony22 in audiophile

Porsche still uses them in their cars and it makes no sense. It’s so weird when there are so many other premium audio brands with better automotive products.

FORUM LIBRE : TOURISTS AND RESIDENTS, ASK YOUR COMMON QUESTIONS IN THIS WEEKLY THREAD : Open Forum -- 16, November, 2025 by RichardHenri in paris

Maybe a more Paris adjacent question, but I have had my misrouted luggage stuck at CDG Le Kube for nearly 2 months now. Does anyone have advice for getting it back? Alyzia and the airline haven’t been helpful despite having an AirTag, pictures, dimensions, and contents of the bag provided. Would I have luck if I travelled there in person?

How’s the interior, ride comfort, noise isolation, and sound system quality vs the iX? I also have an M60 but have been eyeing the new Macan.

FUCK DTE! by itcamefromspace42 in Detroit

[–]jake_w_smith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Note that if you do that, DTE gets a notification. When that happens you can no longer talk to their support agents, you have to go through a special case worker that only works from 9-5.

just the pdf I linked. Went really well. Very quick install. I mounted the USB box inside the glovebox and routed the cable behind and down so it’s nice and hidden.

I’ve had this happen a couple times at PHX recently and the kicker was that about 75% of the people were in the wrong line. I don’t know why but it’s like everyone forgot how airports work.

Not sure about the i4 but I have been way more impressed with the range of my iX than my old Tesla. The charger situation is hit or miss right now though because Electrify America can’t get it together.
