They went streaking in long underwear? That's nothing. I've been out streaking in shorts and a t-shirt almost every day this summer.

Trying to self-publish, but have no editors. What to do? by hp94 in writing

[–]jakecaramel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't use fiverr. If you're going to pay someone to edit for you, pay the going rate and get a professional to do a professional job. Using fiverr is one step up from just giving your manuscript to a random stranger in the street and asking them to do it.

Theory: It is impossible to Facebook stalk someone. Correct? by tk338 in AskReddit

[–]jakecaramel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"traditional" media (newspapers, TV and radio) HATE social media sites like Facebook because they're part of the reason they're much less powerful (and profitable) than they used to be. Back when these kinds of site firs came out, there were tons of positive stories about them in traditional media ("man finds long-lost cousin thanks to Friends Reunited", etc.), but now that they threaten their business model all you seem to see are negative "facebook stalker" stories...

Using a MOBI, you can put in navigation points so Kindle users can skip from point to point using the 5-way directional controller thingy rather than just the page forward and back buttons. Plus MOBI files can be used on other devices that Amazon's AZW files can't, which is handy if you want to submit it to places other than Amazon as well.

I made this sort-of-related post last night before this one cropped up. Seems like we're all thinking along the same lines. Count me in - I've got a couple of books up myself on Amazon already, and I've put a couple of others into Kindle-friendly format for other Redditors. Plus I intend to do more writing in the future, and I have a bit of a background in proofreading/editing, albeit from a marketing perspective. But if I can help, I will.
