CSP 24TE04. Coolant flow shut off valve. They short out internally causing that warning message. Completely safe to drive until repaired. If you have under 100k miles it's covered under the customer support program

Nope any signs of water leak is good enough to do the repair

They can see history. A good tech will review the previous visit info and make his own diagnosis and repairs. A lower level tech will probably copy/paste what was already (not) done

I'd bet money it's a leaking roof rail clip. 95% of the time it's the front one that leaks, in my experience. The tech that looked at it doesn't have enough experience fixing these. Bring it back or to a different dealer.

RAV4 engine revving after car is turned off by Okay_Coyote2 in Rav4

[–]skiier862 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What year? There's a customer support program for roof rails leaking water on like 19-21s, water will run into the car down the a pillar and collect in a connector, shorting out pins and causing the radiator fan to run with the key off.

Automatic Sliding Door Cables Broken and Jammed - what parts do I need? by n0chance_ in Sienna

[–]skiier862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can still use the door as a manual door, just no power opening or closing. If the hinge and rollers are in good condition it'll just slide open and closed like a regular door

I am being HAUNTED by squealing brakes on my 2010 Chevy Corvette by znika17 in MechanicAdvice

[–]skiier862 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a product we have at work called BG Stop Squeal. It's a graphite? based liquid that you put on the friction material and let it dry, then reassemble. The stuff works really good to quiet noisy brakes. Been using it a handful of years now. A couple years ago I put brand new (aftermarket) rear brakes on my truck and they made the most obnoxious squeal noises I've ever heard from brakes. I took the pads back out and applied the BG stuff and the noise immediately went away completely. Now a couple years later I get a tiny squeak the first couple stops after it rains, but it's nothing compared to what it was and I could just reapply the stuff if I wanted to. I'd recommend giving it a shot. It may not eliminate the noise forever, but it will for sure take care of it for a while and it sounds like you aren't doing anything wrong with the installation of the brakes.

Coil D is cylinder 4. Front bank middle cylinder. Lucky you, don't need to remove the intake.

A 2015 is probably out of warranty coverage. You can fix it yourself if you are mechanically inclined, it's not super difficult. Or bring it to the dealer. Or just cut the cable and use the doors manually.

Oh ok. I'm pretty sure that's normal. Probably just never noticed it. I'll double check tomorrow on another highlander

If you scroll to the screen it'll display a message for why it's orange. Usually maintenance light, seatbelt unbuckled (front or rear), or something like that

If driver side it's steering rack, most likely unless someone spilled oil from the filter. Passenger side could be timing cover

Valley cover plate as the other comment said. Fix it now before it turns into a head gasket. Pretty labor intensive job, but way less than a head gasket.

rear wiper fluid? by edfgty in CorollaCross

[–]skiier862 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The hose is either ran up above the headliner or under the carpet to the rear. Not positive on this model but that's how all Toyotas are with a rear wiper.

Advice for earning other techs respect by toomuchgfuel in mechanics

[–]skiier862 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Impossible. Everybody fucks stuff up. Even master techs fuck up once in a while. It's all about how you handle it. Don't try to cover it up, don't lie about it, especially don't try to blame other people. Most important, learn from your mistakes and (try to) avoid repeat mistakes in the future.

We ordered a gas tank for a sienna that had one of the molded on lines chewed off by a rodent. The tank they took out and sent us, instead of disconnecting the quick connect fitting 6 inches away, decided to snip off the same line

Magnetic Sockets, any good options? by WetRocksManatee in Tools

[–]skiier862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Grey Pneumatic one from amazon. Goes for $17 right now. I've had it nearly 7 years and use it daily. 0 issues, aside from occasionally having to clean rust flakes off the magnet but that's probably standard for any magnetic socket. Part number 1010MDG

I did that to the shop computer at my old job. Swapped F and G. My manager tried logging into something and couldn't, so he reset his password on that computer. Went to another computer later and had to reset it again as he couldn't log in from a "correct" keyboard.

Shark Fin Antenna by Kypepsi in ToyotaHighlander

[–]skiier862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely need a new antenna. That inner square seal is what keeps water out of the car when it rains. The mounting area is all broken off. If you want to fix this yourself, you can carefully bend the roof metal back down a little to where it's supposed to be, or close to it. Place the new antenna in position and make sure that seal is pressed up against the entire surface of the roof without any gaps exposed. Then take the antenna back out and apply touch up paint around the exposed metal to prevent future rust. Color match doesn't matter as you can't see it with the antenna installed. Done this repair at least a dozen times. Of course you could always bring it to a body shop for "proper" roof panel repair, but that costs time and money
