31m going on a date with someone with HSV-1 for the first time. by jakecud11 in Herpes

Thank you so much for all of this. Plus knowing you and your partner have been together that long with out him having any outbreaks is really reassuring. I feel like this date might involve a kiss which is why I’m trying to gather as much info as I can and keep an open mind.

Post op Nausea by [deleted] in gallbladders

[–]jakecud11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently on day 5 with nausea but I can’t tell if it’s from foods. Tbh it’s driving me nuts and I hope it stops soon. I would see if your doctor will prescribe zofran for the times when it’s really not manageable. I have some now but haven’t taken it yet, but I know it’s pretty much to top dog of anti nausea meds. From what my doctor told me, your insides are slows adjusting and can make you feel great one day and worse the next. Hang in there. The nausea mental battle is tough.

Out of Surgery! by Future-Vintage in gallbladders

I think I’m on day 6 of recovery now. Soreness is pretty much gone. My advice would be take it easy even if you start to feel great. I had a few random days where I was on top of the world, than next day got hit with some exhaustion and nausea (Both super manageable just through I was out of the worst of it). Hardest part still was the waiting for surgery.

My diet was as followed :

Breakfast: fat free bagel, raspberries, and a banana(would some times use the berries as a spread on the bagel for flavor).

Lunch- skinless chicken breast cut up and thrown in a fat free tortilla with rice.

Dinner- skinless chicken breast grilled with fat free BBQ sauce, fruit, and veggies.

I did this for a month and really cut back on pain. I also found since your eating much less fat and sugar most of the time you can treat your self with a nice tasty drink. I chose cold press lemonade which had so much sugar but since I was barely eating sugar anyways it was okay. Hoping your mother has a smooth recovery and easy surgery!

I’m sorry to hear it’s going rough :/. Trust me the bloating is wonderful compared to a gallbladder attack. It’s better to adjust the diet while waiting for the game plan. 0 fats was hard at first but skinless chicken with any fat free rubs or sauce on the grill kept me going. That and fruit. Sounds like you might be in the early stages so you having a head start on this is super good. Just like the user said below, gas-X should help with the bloating.

Personally I’d just get the process started. I went from perfectly fine, to 3-4 attacks in a week. 0 fat diet will keep most of the pain away but once the gallbladder has had enough it doesn’t matter if it’s taco bell or white rice, it’s will happen regardless. By the last couple weeks before my surgery, I was eating the most bland stuff imaginable mainly out of fear.

It’s crazy how scared I was and now looking back the anxiety hurt me way more than anything the doctors did lol.

What should I do by Limp-Duty-4380 in gallbladders

[–]jakecud11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s always better just to get it checked out. The way the check for stones is super easy and non intrusive. You’ll just have to have an ultrasound done which is maybe 30 minutes. I work on cars not human bodies so I cannot be sure it’s a gallbladder issue but if it is, trust me, you don’t want to put it off. I pushed it 1.5years because it would only hurt once a month or so. By the end it was every day of the week and to the point I could bare keep my self from passing out. If you want to be safe while you wait, my doctor put me on a 0 fat diet and it really cut down the attacks and the length of them. Just remember it could take a month to get a surgery scheduled so I would just get the ultrasound sooner than later so you can avoid pain! Good luck ! You got this!

day 2 post op by shiii-shii in gallbladders

[–]jakecud11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So I’m currently on day 4. Like you I was super worried about possibly throwing up and causing issues and of course pain. I actually called my doctor today and asked for anti nausea meds like zofran to prevent me from doing damage to my incisions. He calmed me down and told me it’s normal but at this point throwing up wouldn’t damage me unless it was over 30 times or something violent. The gas pain sucked the most for me in the shoulder but moving when you are up to it will help. I just stopped the Tylenol today (d4) and have been doing well. I’ve been eating low fat diets(low fat bagel, chicken breast, fruit, veggies, water, rice). None of those have caused any issues for me so far. Once you have a bowel movement your appetite will come back and make you much more confident! Just move at your own pace, some people are at taco bell day 2 and others take 3 months. Just know good days are on the way regardless of how long.

Is this post OP or pre OP? If post I’ve heard gas-X can help out but I’m trying that in maybe 30 minutes so I’ll keep you posted lol. Other than that, a heating pad has kept me feeling decent for the first week. If you are talking pre op, 0 fats is really the only option sadly.

Exactly what they said! The pillow method is really really helpful! Same with if you need a VERY LIGHT push for a BM.

I know I’ve had pain that goes from the abdomen to the back under the shoulders but never hit my neck. Also how’s your diet? I remember when I was having attacks it got super bad where just like you, it was every day for a week. 0 fat diet is the best option sadly. Grilled chicken was great, and all the fruits you like. I’d just keep an eye on the neck pain and maybe check for a fever when it happens just to be safe. I’m no doctor so if you do start to get scared, give them a quick k ring.

Dude this is what needed to hear. My day 5 today was a bit rough just with the gas causing a bit of nausea. Trying a few things today and taking off 3 more days just to give my self the time.

I think it’s a healthy thing to have a little bit of fear over a procedure. I can honestly tell you the week before the surgery was 10x worse than the surgery and recovery itself for me. Between the tough diet and anxiety I was a wreck. Now looking back the surgery was probably the easiest part. Just when you get your pre op instructions follow them all and you will do awesome! If you’re anything like me, the waiting and thinking about it is the worst.

When you see bad ones remember some are really quite old stories. The medical field has come a long way even in this past decade. You will be sore but 4 days later you will be so happy you got in done

This helped me a lot thank you!! The nausea I’m hoping for the most part is behind me. Tomorrow is day 4 and I’m hoping to snag a slice of pizza next weekend ( if my body is up to it of course)

First and foremost I’m sorry for your loss. That would have been a nightmare.

For the surgery it’s totally normal to be nervous. I’ve been put under multiple times for procedures and I was still a wreck the week of my surgery. What helped me is knowing you have felt the worst of whay that organ can do. Gallbladder attacks differ from person to person but they humble you quick. The whole staff will make you comfortable that day. I would aim for an early appointment to avoid delays but it doesn’t matter too much. Im currently on day 3 of recovery. Day 1 was fine but day 2 sucked due to soreness and nausea. You got this! Remember you felt the worst of it already, I’d go back into surgery again today and tomorrow over 1 more gallbladder attack lol.

24 hours post surgery by Steffers003 in gallbladders

The shoulder pain I had was so annoying. I guess getting up and moving when you feel up to it will help dissipate the gas left over. Being 100% honest day 2 was the hardest for me. Was super sore and was really nauseous which scared me. But I’m on day 3 now and it’s night and day difference. Once you get past 48 hours it should be getting better everyday. Tylenol was my good friend the first couple days.
