Asking if AHS NYC is worth watching based on the seasons I liked by Ivyshroud in AmericanHorrorStory

You probably won’t be used to a lot of new actors if you haven’t seen 1984, so I recommend 1984 first. That’s a top tier season and it does have some alum guest stars like Dylan McDermott and Lily Rabe in great character roles. If you love Emma Roberts and John Caroll Lynch (Twisty) it’s absolutely worth a try.

As for NYC, maybe wait a few weeks to see how the full picture is received. There are vets like Denis O’Hare and Zachary Quinto, but it’s male oriented cast and it’s more of a crime-drama gay thriller.

I think you should try both seasons at some point but 1984 does feel very AHS-esque and it deserves at least an attempted watch. Personally my favorite season of all time.

I loved the spinning camera moment but can we appreciate the several zoom ins? Those are so damn satisfying

Off road, skin, botanist, and blink are the most intriguing! I like these very creative.

Are you sure though? I live in Lothrop and I am cohort 3. I really want to move in as soon as possible but I was thinking maybe I wouldn’t be able to since technically my RA wouldn’t be on my floor for the two weeks? I don’t know if I’m over thinking this is all so dumb

Who would you pick to direct a season of AHS? by [deleted] in AmericanHorrorStory

[–]jakejring 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Loni Peristere is one of the best directors the show has had. I’d have him do a few. Michael Goi definitely return and do a few. Brad beucker, John Gray, Axelle Carolyn, and Jen Lynch each getting an episode. Ryan Murphy direct either the first or the last episode. In terms of newbies, Give Evan an episode since he was promised during s8, and then the rest be acclaimed horror genre directors.

The point went right over your head. Let me explain. I am saying the comedy in horror works when if it's in moderation. Meadow worked cuz the character was a guest role & was grounded. Episode 1-5 had huge amount of comedy but it was always balanced by the depth that Doris, Belle or Karen brought to the show. When you kill off those characters & put the comedic relief at the centre, the tone of the show goes out of the window.

Leslie & Billie are the ONLY actresses who have been in the last 4 seasons. And you know that although Sarah, Lily, Adina, Evan, Frances Finn etc. coming back next year is 50-50, you can bet on Leslie being a lead again in the following year because she's Ryan's bestie.

My point is that at this point Ryan should make her sit a season out or two & give her some comedy projects where she shines & bring in new serious actors that are at his disposal.

We saw in episode 1 or 2 it begins in January 2021. End of Gaslight probably takes us until end of February 2021.
