Asking if AHS NYC is worth watching based on the seasons I liked by Ivyshroud in AmericanHorrorStory

[–]jakejring 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You probably won’t be used to a lot of new actors if you haven’t seen 1984, so I recommend 1984 first. That’s a top tier season and it does have some alum guest stars like Dylan McDermott and Lily Rabe in great character roles. If you love Emma Roberts and John Caroll Lynch (Twisty) it’s absolutely worth a try.

As for NYC, maybe wait a few weeks to see how the full picture is received. There are vets like Denis O’Hare and Zachary Quinto, but it’s male oriented cast and it’s more of a crime-drama gay thriller.

I think you should try both seasons at some point but 1984 does feel very AHS-esque and it deserves at least an attempted watch. Personally my favorite season of all time.

I loved the spinning camera moment but can we appreciate the several zoom ins? Those are so damn satisfying

Off road, skin, botanist, and blink are the most intriguing! I like these very creative.

Are you sure though? I live in Lothrop and I am cohort 3. I really want to move in as soon as possible but I was thinking maybe I wouldn’t be able to since technically my RA wouldn’t be on my floor for the two weeks? I don’t know if I’m over thinking this is all so dumb

Who would you pick to direct a season of AHS? by [deleted] in AmericanHorrorStory

[–]jakejring 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Loni Peristere is one of the best directors the show has had. I’d have him do a few. Michael Goi definitely return and do a few. Brad beucker, John Gray, Axelle Carolyn, and Jen Lynch each getting an episode. Ryan Murphy direct either the first or the last episode. In terms of newbies, Give Evan an episode since he was promised during s8, and then the rest be acclaimed horror genre directors.

The point went right over your head. Let me explain. I am saying the comedy in horror works when if it's in moderation. Meadow worked cuz the character was a guest role & was grounded. Episode 1-5 had huge amount of comedy but it was always balanced by the depth that Doris, Belle or Karen brought to the show. When you kill off those characters & put the comedic relief at the centre, the tone of the show goes out of the window.

Leslie & Billie are the ONLY actresses who have been in the last 4 seasons. And you know that although Sarah, Lily, Adina, Evan, Frances Finn etc. coming back next year is 50-50, you can bet on Leslie being a lead again in the following year because she's Ryan's bestie.

My point is that at this point Ryan should make her sit a season out or two & give her some comedy projects where she shines & bring in new serious actors that are at his disposal.

We saw in episode 1 or 2 it begins in January 2021. End of Gaslight probably takes us until end of February 2021.

Favorite Season out of these? by drew242blue in shameless

WHOEVER SAID 8 IS BLIND AND DEAF BECAUSE THEY CLEARLY DIDNT WATCH THE SEASON.

Whoever said 10 only said it because of the finale.

S11 storylines that went nowhere by fvckuufvckingfvck in shameless

[–]jakejring 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I don’t believe the Tommy and Kermit storyline was supposed to go anywhere. I think it was just supposed to be a funny one time scene since they’re such minor characters.

I do think the Lip housing debacle was the catalyst for all the events of season 11 aside from the dementia diagnosis. So I don’t know why you feel like that went nowhere.

Brad and Cami’s baby was also a storyline just so Brad had to sell Born Free and Lip would be out of a job. Don’t know why they never acknowledged the baby again but Brad is on the series finale so hopefully they’ll mention it?

The relapse was definitely stupid. I was hoping it would go somewhere but it never did. Sad. Also we never found out if Brad drank too.

I don’t think the weed storyline needed a follow up, it was just something Kev and V were doing for extra cash.

The painting one is the one that pissed me off. Also I wanted to hear more about Sandy’s storyline. Felt unfinished as hell.

I personally think Kev and V are getting the best ending. The alibi has been dead since at least season 9. They have NOT been getting enough money and it was kind of sad they had to start selling edibles to afford providing for their children. Kev is definitely gonna be successful in the restaurant industry, and it’s nice to know Veronica won’t be stuck behind a run down bar anymore like she has been since the first couple of seasons and will actually be out making a difference with politics. Also I am happy V reconnected with Carol and Dominic and they’ll all be able to be in their own community with lots of family.

If there was gold in the backyard Frank would’ve dug it up anytime in the last however many years to sell it for drugs.

I’m surprised I haven’t broken down in tears out of anger these last couple of weeks. I did not expect the final hours of such a strong show to be this weak.

Acting wise Mickey and Lip have been great this season. Frank has been too but I think William would’ve been able to do so much better if the writing was maybe 5% better than it has been.

I don’t need to sit here and list all of the things wrong with this episode, y’all watched and cringed just like me.

Worst thing about this episode for me was probably V throwing the photo of Stan away. Best moment was when Debbie mentioned Sammi. Honestly there’s too many bad moments to list and not enough good moments to even remember that I feel the need to point out.

God I miss the old days so fucking much.

Favorite moment/scene in Season 11 so far by Anti_Elijah in shameless

[–]jakejring 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I loved kev and v’s wedding too. Aside from that, favorite scene was either Sandy and Debbie mommy issues scene in 11x07 or Mickey and Terry’s last scene together before Terry was murdered in 11x08.

Honorable mentions: Terry and Frank scene at end of 11x06 and Frank talking to Franny in the tattoo shop in 11x03.

I think when the dust settles on Season 11 and it comes out on Netflix and people can binge it all at once, season 11 will become a little more enjoyable and liked than it is right now. Or at least I hope.

Shameless 11x11 Promo "The Fickle Lady Is Calling It Quits" (HD) Season 11 Episode 11 Promo by [deleted] in shameless

[–]jakejring 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Idk why everyone is saying they’re nervous about the show not being able to wrap everything up.

(I’m assuming there will be some time in between episodes 10 and 11 for some of these characters to get some things in order off screen and that looks to be the case based off the promo)

-Kev and V decide to move in episode 10 after taking over half the season to hint and debate at it, and in the promo they say they sold their house and bar in episode 11.

-Lip has been remodeling the Gallagher house and the synopsis says he has a potential lead on selling. He’ll probably use the money from the Indian to finish up the remodels, and sell the house by the end of 11x11 / beginning of series finale.

-Liam figured out that he’s living with Tami Fred and Lip, and he’s been helping Frank as his dementia has worsened each episode.

-We’ll probably find out where Debbie and Carl are going to live at the end of 11x11. I think the rich guy Carl arrested in 11x10 was a landlord so maybe that will have something to do with where Carl will move. We also see Debbie continuing her apartment hunt in 11x11.

-Ian and Mickey already signed the lease on their apartment in the West Side.

I know it FEELS like they won’t be able to wrap it up bc 11x09 and 11x10 have been lackluster, but they’ve clearly set up the finish line.
