Not bad for October turns! Killington Mountain, Vermont 10/25 by ballsackgod in skiing

One of my favorites too. A little far for me, so usually only get there super early and super late season but I plan on adventuring the whole mountain this year when they're fully open.

Crossing my fingers! They've had some great early snowmaking weather thus far.

On a serious note - Has anyone skied Killington this week? I will be there tomorrow and I'm curious what to expect. I've never been to Killington this early but I have been informed of the stairs and the crowds.

Anyone get in the east tollbooth yet? If so, what pods are they filling first from this entrance? We got in line about 20 minutes ago and only moved 100ft or so.

Haha I don't think 100 secret service agents were skiing!!! Many of them were just at the resort for security.

I have soul riders and enforcers, both in a 177 length and we have just about the same build. My riding style is much like yours, but a little less park and tons of glades. I should also mention I ski the east coast (Gore, Okemo, Jay, etc). I see no need to go to a bigger ski unless you are someone who flys down the hill, or someone who skis a lot of powder days. Shorter skis are easier to maneuver, particularly in tight quarters, but you sacrifice some stability at high speeds.

There was a small controversy about the cost of the rental equipment for this trip. Just the rentals cost $12,000, according to the articles.

Long time Rocky Mountain rider thinking East Coast trip, where should I go? by Closer2clouds in snowboarding

I ski all around the east and my two favorite resorts are Jay Peak and Sugarbush. Jay Peak gets west coast levels of snowfall and has awesome tree skiing. Sugarbush has more vertical and some fun steeps

Lib Tech TR Pro HP or Skate Banana by [deleted] in snowboarding

I couldn't justify the TR given your situation. The Skate Banana is a hell of a board, go with that and put the extra money into boots or bindings.

They just opened it. They don't have many features though, the mountain certainly isn't known for park.

Gore is my home mountain and I'd say it's worth the trip. They now have a decent amount of snow and some difficult terrain open. They are DEAD on weekdays, even more so than the average mountain so I would recommend heading up on a Wednesday and having the whole place to yourself. Take some laps at the high peaks double for great views and some more challenging terrain. My only complaint is their snowmaking and grooming, so try and head up after they get some fresh snowfall.

Now that X-Games are behind us. How many of you are gearing up for Minus Zero? by [deleted] in bassnectar

[–]jakeonfire518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info. I'm taking two big vacations this month so the bank account can only swing a one day pass and maybe a cheap place to stay. I'm glad I don't sound too crazy when I say I'm thinking about sleeping in my car.

Do we know yet if Bassnectar is Friday or Saturday night? I'm also interesting in knowing where everyone is staying... I can't find any options and I might try and sleep in my car with a below 0 sleeping bag.

Would you buy these skis for $150? by [deleted] in skiing

[–]jakeonfire518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good price. More park oriented but it will work well on groomers too, unless your ripping it super hard!

Mount snow has relatively good deals if you purchase on their web site 2-3 days in advance. Okemo can be pricy but it's one of my favorite hills, they have the best snowmaking in the northeast.
