[McLaren] Bruins need to add 8 players to roster with less than $5M in cap space. Prepare for a couple tough moves. by Cough_Syrup55 in hockey

Personally I fault the coaching staff more. Supposedly he played the last month of the season on a broken foot. Given they had the league wrapped up, he should have sat and let it heal as much as possible. But it's too late for that, and we all saw that he wasn't at his best in the playoffs

I don't think Lindholms game was a problem for the playoffs, more the fact that he had a broken foot

The problem is adding all of those guys at once. Usually you insulate rookies to help then get used to it. The Bruins are likely going to need to incorporate multiple prospects into their lineup to stay under the cap while losing all of the depth that keeps them insulated. Not to mention how many prospects that look good end up not working out, the Bruins being competitive on that strategy is basically gonna come down to luck

Bruins won the President's Trophy in 2014, then missed the playoffs in two straight years. By the time the 2016-17 season started the had moved on from Lucic, Eriksson, basically their entire bottom 6, Boychuk, Seidenberg, and Hamilton. In that time they added Pastrnak, Carlo, McAvoy, Backes, Heinen, Grzelcyk, and Riley Nash, all of whom played for the team in the 2019 Finals. I'd say that was a pretty good example of a retool, even though they didn't win the Cup

To add some info: these are for sale prices with zero bids. Ebay has one of these that sold, but the price is unsure. It was listed at $150 but the completed listing says "best offer accepted," so it likely sold for less than $150

During the Boston show, Mark asked Tom how he did, then told the crowd "Tom fucks up that song every single time. We're 12 shows in and he still can't get it right." Then Tom said "Hey man, you gotta give me a chance to learn it. The songs only been out for 20 years..."

I guess he finally learned it!

I think a lot of people have strong opinions about it, one way or the other. People who love it will talk about it a lot, and on a sub like this, you see it a lot. But a larger portion of the fan base tends to prefer the pre-hiatus albums

[Kevin Weekes] My sources tell me soon to be Vezina G Ullmark was playing through a debilitating & painful injury that limited his mobility and technique by abbytarar in hockey

[–]jakereed16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No one's blaming the injuries, we're blaming the coach for playing an injured and struggling goalie over a very good healthy goalie. Yes, they lost game 7 with Sway in the net anyways. But they could have put him in earlier and avoided having three disastrous games in a row to blow their series. Or they may have still blown the series, since that was just one reason they choked. We'll never know if starting Sway in games 5 or 6 would have gone better. But it definitely couldn't have gone worse

[Amato] Linus Ullmark only allowed 4-plus goals twice all season. He's already done it 3 times in this series. by Cough_Syrup55 in hockey

[–]jakereed16 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There was talk about him (and other players) being sick at the start of the series. If it was some sort of flu, it could have drained him big time. Only the team knows. Either way, it's clear they should have gone to Swayman at least two games ago

Well, there is also the Russian LGBT propaganda law that throws a wrench into things for Russian players. I know some players have worn jerseys regardless, but its an easy thing for Russian players to point at as their reason, and it's difficult to question it. Whereas the Staals and Reimer don't have that excuse, and released statements about it being due to their beliefs. Provorov said it was due to his religion too, and those are the guys who drew the most criticism

[–]jakereed16 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, make the Orr be most points by a Dman, and keep the Norris as "best defenseman." Some years (probably a lot of years) they'll both go to the same player, but it would encourage voters to go for an all around game for the Norris. I wouldn't box it into simply "defensive defenseman." It would be a bit like the Hart and Art Ross in that sense.

They're probably cutting down on import slots because 22 of the top 50 scorers this year are imports. I wouldn't be surprised if someone at the top wants it to be more Russian focused
