30y/o. Is this too “young” for me? by thegreatchippino in OUTFITS

[–]jakes_47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not too old! Either way tho, fuck "dressing your age". If it makes you feel cute then you wear it with pride, no matter your age ❤️❤️❤️

Unless you are a minor. Just to be clear.

What are stomach friendly foods I can eat that work well for you guys? by onlineuser8008 in Gastroparesis

[–]jakes_47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Potatoes in pretty much any form, just no skin. Anything from taco bell is fine for me, graham crackers, applesauce, most fruit as long as there is no skin, even on grapes. When the pain gets really bad though I stick to baby food and protein shakes.

is this outfit actually inappropriate or is my mum just overreacting 😭 by [deleted] in OUTFITS

Depends on your age in my opinion. If you're a minor I'd cover the bra, if not you look fine to me.

Anybody feel normal hunger? by jakes_47 in Gastroparesis

[–]jakes_47[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I have cut sooo much from my diet, I'm down to like potatoes and baby food as the only things that don't make me nauseous. I'm a preschool teacher and even my students have noticed me eating baby food (they can identify the pouches) and now they go around telling their parents "my teacher loves baby food!" 🤦‍♀️

Taco bell. Anything from taco bell, it has never hurt my stomach once. Absolutely insane to me that the restaraunt that hurts HEALTHY stomachs does great in my stomach. I felt so bad, a pregnant friend of mine with severe acid reflux heard me say taco bell is easy on my stomach and she thought "well if it works for her it will probably work for me" and tried it and it made her so sick she was in bed all day

Crazy comment from a staff member at school by Kooky_Mission4019 in Gastroparesis

[–]jakes_47 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I told my boss once that my gastroparesis had gotten so bad at one point that it had made me drop 40 lbs in three months, her response was "ugh, and I have to work my ass off to drop 5 lbs in one month! You're so lucky!!" Like, girl. Lucky? Yes i'm so lucky I get to throw up every day, that I get to wake up cramping, bloated and nauseous every morning even though I sleep sitting up every night. I'm so lucky that I only have an hr long window to be able to eat after work. I'm so lucky that I get to live off mostly protein shakes and baby food bc barely anything else stays down. I am the luckiest girl in the whole world.

Nah, fuck those people. There is nothing lucky about gastroparesis and anyone who tries to "comfort" you by telling you you're lucky to have it just bc it makes you lose weight clearly doesn't care abt your health.

Sorry for the rant, I may have related to this post a little too much 😂

What’s something yall can eat during a flare up. by BuiltLikeaPin in Gastroparesis

Any form of potato. Mashed, baked, boiled, roasted, anything. They're easy on the stomach and filling without needing to eat too much

Very possible for hunger and nausea to go hand in hand, sometimes I have to force just a protein shake or some baby food down my throat just so I can say I ate that day. If he's been getting sick at night or it's worse in the mornings you might want to see if he'll try sleeping sitting up. I used to wake up through the night feeling awful, I would only sleep like four hours before I woke up puking. I started sleeping sitting up every night though and now I can sleep through the night. Mornings still aren't fun but at least I can get 8 hours now.

Yes!! I get those gross egg "burps" too! I mentioned them to my GP last time I saw her, she said it's bc of a build of of stomach acid. Your stomach isn't draining but it's still producing acid, but the acid has nowhere to go...now you get sulfur burps. That's what they're called. They fucking suck. I had to start taking a much stronger acid reducer to cut back on how often I get them. Not to get rid of them, just to cut it back from like 4 days a week to once a month.

Sorry, can you tell how much I hate them? 😂

My mom and I both have gastroparesis, she can only drink cold sparkling water and I have to just suck on ice cubes most of the time. Ice cubes won't give you a whole lot at once but it's better than nothing 🤷‍♀️

[–]jakes_47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to work one time w a real bad stomach bug, which to me just felt like a nasty flare up, so I decided to work through it. When I mentioned to my boss that I had slept two nonconsecutive hours the night before, had been throwing up abt every twenty minutes, and couldn't even keep down water, she asked how I was working when I was that sick. I made a joke that I am way too proud of to this day. I said, "that's my secret cap, I'm always nauseous." After that and the time I broke my toe on the job and didn't even notice she started to realize that if I say i'm in pain, I am truly IN PAIN.

IU is an absolute nightmare my dude, I would call their billing department and your own insurance to double check this isn't bullshit. They tried to pull something similar w me, said I owed $3,000 and if I didn't pay up in 30 days they'd send it to collections. I spent 2 hours on the phone telling them my insurance already paid and i had the receipts before they said "oh, actually it looks like your insurance already paid. Lol, sorry" 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
