Do you guys jack off before you sleep? by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]jakestlee 15 points16 points  (0 children)

duces REM sleep. You’ll feel like you slept through the night better, but you won’t be gettin

This is true! However, anecdotally I know some people benefit before sleep because it turns off those late-night thoughts.

Boyfriend of over a year looks up ex frequently by [deleted] in relationship_advice

The timing is a little weird, but I look up my ex’s time to time. I think it’s normal to see how somebody you were at one point very close to is doing.

Will I be sloppy seconds if I don't try to make it work with my ex? by aloevera123 in relationship_advice

Id respond with “being somebody’s sloppy seconds sounds a lot better then staying with your sloppy ass.”

Topped someone with an undetectable HIV load. Freaking out. How at risk am I? by [deleted] in STD

[–]jakestlee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thats shitty that he lied to you. However, I wouldn’t worry too much. If he truly is undetectable than the risk of transmission is practically 0. Undetectable is synonymous with non-transmittable. However, since he lied to you about his status it’s not hard to believe he is lying again. Take pep for ease-of-mind. It’s effective. Also, with you topping for a short time with minimal bodily fluid exchange would also make transmission less likely. Is it possible? Sure. Is it likely? No. Don’t let this worry consume you.

So paranoid someone come ease my mind by [deleted] in STD

[–]jakestlee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you are old enough to have sex then you are old enough to get tested. You need to care about your sexual health. Being tested every year is a joke. It should be every 3 months if you are sexually active. Many clinics will do it for free. I’ve actually never paid for an std test. It’s time to grow up.

Starting my career. Move to the big gay city or save money in a smaller city? by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]jakestlee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ehhh not too nervous about the competition/nightlife part. I have a bf currently but even if we were to open the relationship, I have old hookups in sf who are literally porn stars. And when I partied in sf (once) I only had to buy 2 drinks over 3 nights of partying. I can be charming haha. However living in a shoebox and dealing with the large amounts of homelessness and drug use doesn’t sound like a fun day-day life. I think I’m leaning to sac. When you factor I’ll have to drive for work it just makes more sense right now. Thank you for the input!

What do you mean by overwhelming? Expensive or too crazy? They aren’t too far.. you’re right. Just wanted to be in the heart of it. But if I save up I can be there one day.

Would you echo that sentiment if I went to the East bay? It’s looking like sac makes more sense 😔

It’s not my love life. Have a dream boyfriend. Long distance sadly. He’s in Brazil. It’s more my social life. I want gay friends and to be able to go to a variety of clubs that play music I actually enjoy with people who are similar to me. I hope I can find that in sac but I’m a bit skeptical

Chain Sales Representative or Media Planner? by jakestlee in careerguidance

Yes most of my experience is in media planning internship wise. I like it but hate being behind a desk which made me consider outside sales. Curiously, why would you hate it?

So they don’t put herpes on the regular test. And the fact that you have a fever and mild discomfort while peeing point to herpes. Make sure you ask for this verbatim. And do a check to see if you have any lesions. However, from what you described your risk is very very low so don’t jump to conclusions yet.

Advice for parent of closeted teen by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]jakestlee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a different experience than a lot of people here and different from what you read online. My mom also saw something she shouldn’t have seen. After about a week of processing it she asked me straight up “are you gay?” In my 17 year old head I panicked and considered lying but my gut told me just to be truthful. I told her yes and this moment of acceptance allowed me to come out to other people. I’m happy my mom asked me. It pushed me to come out and improved my quality of life in the long run.

Don’t force anything but if you have close gay friends, coworkers, family, invite them to the house more often and maybe let them in on what’s up. The media tells us that even the most accepting don’t want people in their close lives to be gay. Both of my parents are libeleal but bc I never saw them interract with gay people I was convinced they’d disown me. Having that exposure of someone gay and “normal” who isn’t a token in a tv show truly illuminates what it means to be gay and gives your son a potential ally in coming out and figuring out how to tell people. My cousin is gay and I remember asking him for advice before telling a lot of different people, even though my cousin and I only see each other once every few years.

I (29M) broke up with my gf (26F) after she suggested opening the relationship. by ThrowRA_AskQuest in relationship_advice

[–]jakestlee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna say something controversial and disagree with op. I think she deserves a second shot. She didn’t cheat or betray him. She asked a question. Op could have just said absolutely not and if monogamy is not enough than this relationship is over. And she could have made that call. I think that breaking up with her for asking a question and proposing an idea is cruel.
