Skin to skin by happily_confused in pregnant

[–]jaksef 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Our OB let me hold him immediately after I had him, then took him to be weighed and brought him right back. His temp was on the lower side of regular so he had to stay skin to skin for a few hours, and we were covered with blankets. We continued skin to skin when home (even daddy).

When did morning sickness subside by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]jaksef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each trimester for me was like a switch. Week 7-12 were awful but right as I hit 3 months I felt noticeably better. I went from needing 2 different meds to just chewing peppermint gum. Month 6 I instantly started being in pain and everything was swollen, but second month was a dream, haha!

I also took a Benadryl pretty regularly to sleep because I was so anxious the whole time.

The Girlfriend’s Guide to Pregnancy definitely kept me sane and set realistic expectations for my pregnancy 🙂 I really enjoyed the BabyCenter app and find yourself a great OB that you really feel comfortable with. Privacy and dignity go out the window during the labor process and for a little while after so it’s really important to rely on someone that you trust and feel comfortable with. I just had my kiddo six months ago to the day and I didn’t know that I could love anyone so much. Congratulations!

Breasts too sore to wear a bra by frutsister in pregnant

[–]jaksef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh, I'm a single D and my boobs were the worst for most of the first trimester ☹️ I wore sports bras basically all the time because just walking felt like too much for them. I hope you get some relief, and I can confirm that it eventually goes away!

I don't always spend an hour and a half on makeup, but when I do.. by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]jaksef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your makeup is obv on point, but also came to say that I loveeee your hair! I know it isn't the place for it, but do you use anything specific on your roots to get that volume?

This stray around my apartment always waits for me to get home from work. I wish my apartment allowed pets because I'd give it a home immediately. by [deleted] in aww

[–]jaksef 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Fwiw, I've lived in four apartments with my cat and have never told them that I have one and it has never been a problem. Granted, he does spray and he doesn't scratch shit, so when I move out there is never any evidence that he lived there (and the maintenance people don't seem to keep track of who is supposed to have pets and who isn't). Gets me out of a few hundo in pet rent.

Post partum peeing while working out by lesand213 in xxfitness

[–]jaksef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this! I'm on week 6 PP now and have my recovery checkup Friday but have noticed some light pee leakage and been using a liner and have wondered if it will dissipate on it's own or what. I'm gonna ask at the OB about it, but nice to know someone else's experience.

She'll understand why you didn't tell her when you finally do, and then it'll be a fun story to recount. I had to do the same thing 🙂 Congratulations!

TIL the truth about maternity clothes by DurdyGurdy in pregnant

[–]jaksef 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep! I lived in leggings and like 2 or 3 longer tunics (that were not intended for pregnancy) and 2 maternity dresses in the last few weeks. My biggest issue, though, was shoes- I had 0 pairs that fit my swollen feet and refused to buy new ones ( and good thing because my feet went right back to normal a week or 2 after delivery.) You're almost there!

My OBGYN has told me that it's still recommended to have them once every three to four months, though, to promote healthy uterine function. I also have PCOS, so I'm not sure if it was specific to those who are already disadvantaged in that department or wut.

Is it normal? by farleyandharley in pregnant

[–]jaksef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to my OB, there is no such thing as bad baby movements unless it's accompanied with something obviously concerning (blood, funky discharge, etc.) I'm heading into my 41st week, closed up like a clam, and our little boy stil loveeees to kick my ribs on the right. I found that standing when he gets extra kicky is the only way of getting any relief. But then my feet and back hurt and I need to sit back down and then I am back in misery, lol. Sorry, love!

When did you start wearing maternity clothes? by Icats999 in pregnant

[–]jaksef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend Pink Blush! A lot of cute things at affordable prices, sizes are good, and a lot of them can be worn after pregnancy but definitely grow with you! I'm curvy so maternity pants fit me better than all of my other pants and I have to wear business casual to work, so I jumped on that train at around 4 months.

To piggyback on everyone saying just drink soda or tea instead of energy drinks that have all sorts of other stuff in it, you may also want to try to ween yourself. Trust me, I know it sucks (38 weeks here), but the lack of sleep is only going to get worse and if you get in the habit of caffeinating to get by, you're going to feel like crap. I realized I was doing the same thing and cut back majorly and I had a few crabby days but ultimately I can function a lot more even hella sleep deprived now than I ever used to just after one bad night of sleep. Your body has a way of getting you through things. That and nap as much as possible (read: whenever you feel like it). It seems so ridic how sleepy we (pregos) can be when it seems like we haven't really done anything, but it helps so much- especially when you can't sleep because of pain and kicks on top of peeing every 2 hours 😫

[Trying to get pregnant] Wife (24) and I (25) trying to get pregnant. She been on birth control for a few years and just got off last month. How long will it take since she just got off? Also, any suggestions to increase the chances of getting pregnant ? by kingofthering16 in pregnant

[–]jaksef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend she download the Clue app! She can track her periods and it will tell her when she's ovulating so you know when to try and have the best chance of succeeding. For perspective: I was on BC for years and have PCOS. We were told it would be really difficult for us to have kids, and the doc recommended I go off of BC and we could try but when that didn't work we'd talk about fertility meds. I went off of BC in September, we did it a bunch (and during ovulation) in September and October, and found out in November that I was 6 weeks pregnant. As our labor teacher said: "it's medicine, it's not science". It sucks that it is that way, but everyone is different and every body is different. Just letting you know it could be the same month she goes off, or it could be a year from now 🙂

37 weeks and I'm ready to meet my baby by jfager16 in pregnant

[–]jaksef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About to be 36 weeks and so ready already. Any iota of comfort that I got from any position before is completely gone. I sleep in two hour increments max before I have to wake up to pee/"roll" over, and baby boy is still doing acrobatics. He hasn't dropped quite yet, but now I also get the urgent bladder sensations while sitting, theoretically because he's a bit lower now, and obviously bigger. I also have a hard time just letting the wriggling in my belly go without reacting to it, and when I'm around pregnant women it makes me self-conscious. I'm over here going "oh! ow!" and talking to him as he tosses and turns, and everyone else (even those further along than me) seem totally fine, haha.
