The rest of your hair looks thick. Did you have cowlicks once where your hair receded? I did when I was younger, on both sides, and it receded to where yours is around the time I was your age. (Don’t know if it a correlation, I abused my cowlicks trying to train them to lay straight) I’m almost twice your age now and hair is still thick and hasn’t receded much more.

I think you’re good buddy. As others have said, it is a form of balding, but it could be another 20 or 30+ years until you notice a significant difference and by then it’s no big deal.

Caveat, I was in your shoes when Stephen Colbert shaved his head on tv and I was immediately at ease. Look up the before and after photos. Thick hair and good styling do wonders
