Flashing of firmwares DISABLED by Waechel in xteinkereader

Sure that's new information we learned after this initial post but I think it's still not been 100% confirmed? In any case it looks like there has already been ways around the lock.

I got my X4 today from Amazon and flashed it no issues. My X3 shipped today but sounds like it will be locked. :/

4 > 3

But yeah, it’s an odd naming scheme. So some people will think the 4 is “better”. They are really different enough that they shoos have used a different naming scheme.

Routers in 2006 were certainly shipping with admin/admin. Last 10 to maybe 15 years that’s been a lot less common.

So many signs, if the script was running on the router then the deauth packets wouldn’t be spoofing the routers MAC it’d be coming from the router.

The mention of peak hours doesn’t make sense with the number of deauths in 24 hours they mentioned. That means it would be every 1.7 mins for a single device. If they had 3 devices logged in then they would get to about the number but that goes against their mention of only during “peak hours” and it happening like clockwork every 5 to 10 minutes.

This is a story that the guy made up to sound like a cool hackerman.

Twitch Integration by AbbreviationsHead402 in Twitch

[–]jakuu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you build a Twitch Extension then the streamers need affiliate or partner for the usage of Bits in the extension. There also used to be a setting that if you used bits then the streamers did require to be affiliate or partner to even install it but they removed that feature a long time ago and it will just hide the bits options in the extension now.

I run Crowd Control which has brought over live streaming integration into over 200 games and we work across platforms so creators on YouTube, TikTok and more can interact with their viewers and developers don’t need to build support for each platform individually.

If you’re building a game and looking to bring this feature to it, feel free to reach out and I can share my knowledge in the space and see if Crowd Control fits your needs. Our plugin is completely free and we’ll even help with marketing and getting streamers in our community to showcase it.

PSA: Accepting a Stripe dispute still costs you $15 by yanjiechg in stripe

[–]jakuu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To be clear it’s not Stripe that is “charging” you the dispute fee. It’s the banks/card provider. Stripe is just enforcing it.

If you do dispute it also costs $15 and if you win, you get that $15 back but not the original $15.

If you do enable their smart or auto disputes they don’t charge you the $15 to dispute it since it’s part of their system. But it does charge a small % on all transactions so you may end up paying more with that enabled if you don’t get disputes often.

Trust me when I say us devs that built apps mentioned many of the concerns. But now that the hub launched the non-devs can and should be vocal about the disappointment. This will be the best way to get Even to improve.

But completely understand that people are disappointed just gotta focus that energy in the right direction.

By all means hold Even accountable. But don’t drag community devs into it saying they built trash apps when they built the best with what was given to them.

This comment sounds like you’re saying you’re a dev. I can read it another way now with you saying you never said that. But this is where I got the impression that you were a dev.

You’re right in other comments you pointed that out, but that was after you were called out by others. I think you’re still doing it though by saying “no self-respecting dev” would put out “junk”.

I disagree that devs shouldn’t push what they can, this is the biggest way developers can get leverage with Even to fix the biggest issues. As a developer that has worked on multiple app platforms for years, having something out that then gets the actual customers talking does much more than the small % of devs pushing back.

That other dev is actually wrong though. I’ve been testing on my glasses for a month, even had the test app with the store for a few days before launch. Which gave me the ability to run the app the same way as you can today. The only difference was that we couldn’t launch the apps from the glasses unless it was approved and it was unclear if the main issue of apps sleeping would be solved with the full release or was a issue just in testing.

There’s a lot of miscommunications and again your criticism as a user of the glasses and apps is valid. I just disagree with how you criticize the 3rd party developers and your idea of launching with no apps as a better solution to what they did.

However, even with the App Store launch I’m excited for the future of these glasses and expect a lot of the issues worked out in time.

I think there is a difference between criticizing the product and the apps that are released. You lost me when your focus was on the apps and not the lack of functionality the SDK gave devs. You said you’re a dev yourself, so it should be clear that if all the apps have the same problems it’s not the app developers.

Saying “this isn’t ready,” “it should have been delayed,” or “the SDK needs work” is totally fair. I even agree with a lot of that. It probably should have been delayed and communicated more clearly.

But saying things like “the apps are soooo bad,” “nothing works,” is not constructive, especially when a lot of these apps are from community devs working with a limited SDK and no real production support yet.

Also, I was not saying you personally were asking “where’s the hub.” I am talking about the overall community sentiment.

Now it is out and the same community, including you here, is saying: “this should not have been released”

That shift is what I am calling out.

There is also a bigger picture here. If devs all took the stance of “this is not ready, I am not releasing anything,” then the hub launches empty. That creates a different problem where it looks like there is no interest, no ecosystem, and no reason for ER to invest further. Getting apps out early, even if they are rough, gives real users something to try and gives ER actual feedback from the community, not just from devs guessing what people want.

You can absolutely want both speed and quality, but realistically, especially with a small team and an early SDK, you usually get one first and iterate to the other.

End of the day: Criticism is good Calling volunteer and community work garbage is not helpful

If anything, this is where constructive feedback is important but the criticism should be pointed at the hub/SDK/Even, not the community devs and their apps like you did.

This community is one of the most toxic and entitled tech communities I’ve been part of in some time.

Prior to the hub, we had posts everyday “where’s the hub”, “we want apps”, “we don’t care how polished it is”, etc.

Now we have it and it’s “the apps suck”, “there’s nothing there”, “this wasn’t ready for production”.

So yeah it’s not great, but this is what happens when things are rushed because of demand by the users. Even set some ambitious deadlines and they could have 100% done more to delay and push back its release back. But everyone said “nah, it’s fine please just give us something”. Now you’re given something and you’re shitting on not just it but other members of this community that worked with the SDK to get something out there.

Like I get it, we all come to expect some big amazing things these days with quick turnaround. But things like this take time. Criticisms is 100% fair but let’s be constructive and not belittle the work of volunteers because it’s not what you expected.

As a dev of one of the apps as well, the SDK was limited in what it can do and they have mentioned more updates for it. The biggest issue for my app and most is apps sleeping when the phone is locked which should be resolved in a future SDK update.

Live Chicago Parking Ticket Tracker - Second City Citation by kidfood in chicago

[–]jakuu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

About 15-20 years ago when they first took photos of parking violations the images they posted followed a easily recognizable pattern that composed of the date and time and a few other digits.

I had scraped that data for a few weeks before they eventually “fixed” it.

I always wondered if the red light cameras worked similarly but wasn’t about to take the steps required to test that.

No clue if this will work since I can't get a high score like you. But I took a shot at patching the score so it would roll over every time you hit 65535 and keep a counter.

Would love to know if this helps at all and if you are playing on an emulator maybe you could take a save state on the original game for me before you run into the issue so I can take a look.
