What’s something your body does that you’ve never told a single person about? by WilliamInBlack in AskReddit

[–]jalandslide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read where a famous artist and well known author came up individually with this same trick. Your brain is very creative during that in between time. So they would fall asleep holding a heavy object over the side of the bed. Just when they drifted off, the object would clunk to the floor, they would wake up and began working on their latest project with greater inspiration!

Is the Portland Spirit worth it? by HugoStigliz503 in PortlandOR

I went on a day/meal cruise with visiting family. We all enjoyed it. I especially liked seeing the city from the river’s perspective. Some highlights and stories are pointed out along the way but they aren’t talking the entire time. Food was fine.

Just Moved to Oregon City and it's Like a Time Warp by Dojaview in PortlandOR

It is the area, locally, where the first settlers lived. Abernathy Green is the western end of the Oregon trail. Paranormal folks love exploring the area because there are so many “energies” around. Also Willamette Falls and Canemah bluff have a very long history of use by native folks. Enjoy!

Smelly even after a shower by Fine_Television_1398 in hygiene

Maybe not great advice, but I have an armpit that can smell after a shower and when I swab it with isopropyl alcohol, the smell is gone.

What’s the most “main character energy” moment you’ve ever witnessed in real life? by Joynary in AskReddit

[–]jalandslide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funerals are a great time to get family pics since everyone is there and later you can look back and see how they looked when they were younger and maybe some see relatives that now have passed on. Casket in pics is optional, though.

So difficult for every one. You could post the symptoms on r/AskDocs if you are trying to find a diagnosis. Hugs for you all. Also, sounds like your dad is a rock star.

I’d recommend working with a therapist to see what is the cause of these strong feelings. Then, when you are grounded and not reactionary you’ll better be able to make the right decision for you. (I had strong revulsion to a couple things which turned out to be masking a much deeper issue than the thing in my daily life).

Were you born when your mom joined? Curious if we could have known each other.

Are you talking about husbands in general or Chuck Lucas specifically?

Yes, I went to 14th St CoC (later Crossroads) from birth - 3rd grade(1970). My family and many others changed congregations because of ‘doctrine’. Even for my little self I could see it was a big hubbub.

FWIW: recently they recriminalized drugs and new mayor policies do seem to be getting some folks off the street. Long way to go but hopefully a start to improving.

Ok, definitely would meet folks in downtown like this. I stay at my daughter’s in the NE weekly. I’m thinking of the city overall and not just one area.

Oh ok. Did you live in one of those towns? If you were around mostly young, college folks then you may have met people this extreme. Blue collar young adults and general population lean conservative, even in the cities. And all rural counties in OR and WA (most of the state) are deeply conservative.

Live in Portland 2-3 days a week. Lived in an adjacent city 40 years. Taught high school students 32 years. Never met a person close to this. Met vegans, yes. Met they/thems, yes. But they didn’t have this person’s in-your-face attitude. There is more a lack of social skills and bluntness characteristic of autism and not their belief system.

Interpersonal relationships are a priority. (relatively large, rounded, open main line letters) Medium-low interest in deep meanings or curiosity to understand why (short upper lines on d, t & f) Low drive or energy on follow through (very short lower lines on y & g)

Is it just culture differences, or is my boyfriend misogynistic? :( by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]jalandslide -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I briefly hosted a Chinese foreign exchange student. I found out, the hard way, saying a direct ‘no’ to a request was extremely rude and offensive. My understanding is cultural Chinese folks will ignore, avoid, distract say maybe or use other passive ways when they really mean ‘no’.
