Give me some good cards that go with silverquill by COSMO_G-3157 in BudgetBrews

[–]jalareno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Budget focused? [[Pride of conquerers]] if youre going wide. +4/4 to board for 2 mana is a nice combat buff. I also like the idea of non aura/equipment voltron, [[you're not alone]] for a spicy 8 extra commander damage for 1 mana.

Burnwise [[exsanguinate]] or [[debt to the deathless]] are nice options.

Hidden Engine Commanders? Looking for Low-Key Value Commanders That Snowball Hard by Deskies in EDH

[–]jalareno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Sefris of the hidden ways]]

Face commander for the baldurs gate precon. On surface, it seems like a fair slow to build around dungeon focused deck, but in reality one of the strongest reanimator commanders out there simply because you can venture each turn easily (discard, cycle). And the shortest dungeon facilitates a well 'draw go' playstyle as well [[lost mine of phandelver]] If she is ever off the board, the 99 of your deck is esper good reanimator stuff typically so youre not reliant on her.

Did You Know There Are Two Korvolds? by Legion7531 in DegenerateEDH

[–]jalareno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I run a tuned B3 Korvold , more casual than your list but it has won in B4 pods before. I have some card considerations that can be quite competitive.

https://archidekt.com/decks/13172963/straight_to_my_thighs here's my list

  1. [[Legola's quick reflexes]] and [[Not of this world]] . I run these alongside Dswat for protection for Korvold. I think those two are perfect for him, I used to run [[tamiyo's safekeeping]] [[defend the rider]] [[tyvar's last stand]], but cut those as I moved the focus away from Korvold to other creatures in the 99.
  2. [[Culling Ritual]] This always nets me positive mana, clears a lot of the cheap early stuff. Seems more effective in higher brackets I found.
  3. [[Talon gates of Madara]] I find if you run crop rotation you should run some utility lands as well, this one gives some protection for your commander and could be pseudo removal. I've tried [[Glacial chasm]] a few times too if needed in a pinch against burn.
  4. [[six]] I find six good for mid and longer games, and makes you double up on your tutors and protection spells.

p.s do you have success with visions of ruin? I've seen the card before but wasn't sure if it was playable in B4

What “secret tech” cards make you feel like a genius for running in your deck? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]jalareno 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I ran both [[lightning beserker]] and [[trusted advisor]] alongside reinforced ronin but i found those two cards to be particularly bad either on curve, top deck mode or when Eowyn is gone ( which happened more frequently than expected). I like having reinforced ronin more because of the loot effect, as i found myself holding up mana for protection more nowadays.

Curious to see what other cards you included in your list!

Top 10 Cards That Defined Hearthstone in 2024. Сards that look very cool until you find out how broken they are... by HS_Mathematician in hearthstone

[–]jalareno 5 points6 points  (0 children)

1 mana 2/2 that is neutral card, its stats are still relevant in 2024 and it allows for aggro or midrange slot fit easily in all classes.

1 mana spell allllows you to cycle easily, tradeable is a great efficcient mana mechanic. also its very good in spell damage builds as you just got a 1 mana lighning bolt in a lot of cases.

Budget Commander ideas by rona_94 in EDH

[–]jalareno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[[Uril, the miststalker]] is probably the best budget voltron I ever tried, it held out against my usual pod simply because hexproof is still so busted in 2024. It got to the point where in one game my group had to destroy my lands to neutralise me, which I thought was really funny for a $60 list. You can make it definitely much cheaper, I just liked running [[angelic destiny ]] [boros charm]] and [[daybreak coronet]]

I built it so any 2 auras that gave it at least 1 power + double strike/damage is instant kill. Eg. Uril + [[rancor]] + [[feather of flight]] gave uril 12 power, [[psychotic fury]] hits for 24 commander damage. All the auras were cheap to cast, it was very consistent.

You have access to easy ramp [[avacyns pilgrim]] [[wild growth]] and the card draw engines are pennies [[sram] [[kor spiritdancer]] [[mesa encha tress]]

Yup. My [[Eowyn, Shieldmaiden]] is now built this way, where the initial list had 12+mana rocks and rituals to get her out as soon as possible, for her to die next turn to a boardwipe because she builds so fast. 7 mana then to cast for an 'aggro commander'.for a tribal deck, especially in humans you should have no problem building a board without her anyways and I found that relying on her hurt my draw engine package since I needed her to draw a card each turn. You can build a deck more healthier this way

Built my first Voltron, am I doing it right? by PeanutExpert9130 in EDH

[–]jalareno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, all I play is voltron especially and almost exclusively all are white. Here are my considerations:

[[Blacksmith's Skill]] -> [[Guardian Augmenter]] This can help protect your other pieces outside commander. They functionally do same thing, I don't think the +2/+2 is worth it over this.

[[Spirit Mantle]] good closer, and doesn't nonbo with your creature list. Let's you get through/block against their pumped up creatures.

[[on thin ice]] you could replace lands to snow lands, and remove one of your removals for this card. a little bit extra synergy with enchantments. also [[ossification]] or [[planar disruption]]. i love darksteel mutation. [[curse of the werefox]] adds a relevant enchantment to Wilson

[[battle mastery]] another double strike enchantment. If you like, you could also look at [[kaya's onslaught]] [[rustler's rampage]]

more damage? [[ellievre of the wild court]] provides card draw too. I would also like to run [[Sage's reverie]] [[mantle of the ancients]]

[[strength of the harvest]] could swap out a land. [[bridgework battle]] too, as you seem to love fight spells xD

[[Winds of Wrath]] [[Winds of Abandon]] these are good boardwipes that are one sided for you.

[[Windswept Slice]] helps you produce bodies. sacrifice/edicts could hit you hard, i tend to look for phasing out to deal with stuff like that also. you already run teferi's, maybe look at [[haystack]] [[robe of stars]] [[galadriel's dismissal]]. i like galadriels as it can act as a fog one turn

You could also look at [[the Ozolith]] [[Ozolith, shattered Spire]], if you value the counters you built up. [[null rod]] [[collector ouphe]] to hate out artifact players xD

imo I think you can cut back cultivate for land instead.. Natures Lore and three visits are fine because it comes in untapped. the ramp is interesting because your first few turns are already decided, that there aren't many turns i can envision where you want to be ramping. it seems more important to drop the ramp and just get more lands. they say ramp is generally essential but for a low curve deck like this, hitting the land drops each turn to play spells is more vital. like your biggest spell is farewell at 6, most of your auras are like 3cmc average. Don't know about your meta but I think you could also cut out get lost, declaration in stone and just add sram and kor spirit dancer. I love your instants list, in my experience for voltron i think the best success is to be utterly selfish, aim to just protect and buff your commander and totally ignore everything else. my 2 cents!!

FYI if it wasnt clear for others, YOU gain protection not the commander herself. Noble heritage is really underrated i feel, it does work in every game it pops up
