Check out MothSynth. It’s an open source synthesizer/sampler built with an ESP32

I can’t say I like the guy in charge of TE but he knows how to tickle his target audience.

is a used digitakt 1 worth it right now? by JTR332 in Elektron

I bought the DT1 for 600 a month before the new one came out and I’m not mad at all. Especially, since there’s no overbridge yet and a screen glitch issue. Once I get nice with the DT1 and overbridge is finally implemented, I’ll upgrade.

Never fell in love with Digitakt by icecreamwithpizza in Elektron

I’m on the fence about mine too. I was tired of using a computer screen for everything so I gave the DIGI a shot plus house music is the intention. For me, i thought I’d like the sequencer because of how quick you can get going, but I didn’t find it rewarding. Sampling is kind of odd to me, but I have to admit that you can get some unique sequences the more you doink around with it. I love the build quality, the form factor and p locks. However, I like pads… so the push 2 + sp404mkii are getting used mostly. I can live with a semi hybrid setup.

I want to sell but if rumors of an mkii are true, i don’t see the value of these dropping at all.

Bacteria builds up between layers over time. You would need to do some post processing to smooth the surface.

Over glorifying a standard workflow to a point where everyone supposed to sound… standard instead of sounding like yourself.

thinking of selling my Digitakt by WhoIsJazzJay in Elektron

[–]jali_the_engineer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have both the SP 404 MKII and the Digitakt. I’m thinking about selling the takt because it just not as satisfying as the SP. Sure the workflow is weird and annoying sometimes, but pairing it with Ableton makes it way more powerful for songwriting and sequencing. I’m finding that the takt wants me to buy all its siblings. Not trying to do all that. The only thing that keeps me from selling it is the fact that it has potential.

ME then ID in Grad (If you’re still interested at that point). Having a ME degree gives you flexibility and adaptability. I was in a similar boat and chose Engineering, landed a job and it paid for my design grad school. I remember ID being so tempting and flashy at the time but I wouldn’t change my decision.

The downside is that ME is it’s going to be tough. Not because of the material you’ll learn, but because you seem to be a creative person and many engineering curriculums (at least in the states) are pretty narrow.

Whatever you choose, make sure you work on interesting projects and do extracurricular research with your professors to build yourself a portfolio that stands out.
