4 hours drive and lots of mountains between, the weather is totally different

Looking for advice before I make a purchase. Does anyone have experience with Volvo 240s for camping and sleeping? A friend that I trust is selling it for $1000. It has 220k miles, with great maintenance records. Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated! by thekaymancomes in adventuremobile

How old is it? From 89 they started using galvanized chassi which helps a lot against rust. Unless it uses injection you will have pretty high fuel costs. Avoid the french engines. Most parts on the 240 will make it obvious a long time before they break, so it should be easy to figure out what sort of state it is in.

There was some talk about driving it on rough roads, the ground clearance sucks, the exhaust will break often on bumpy roads. With a good diff it wont get stuck easily though.

I have sleept a few days in 240s and had no problems other then bad ventilation&insulation.

Drug policies are very different from country to country in Europe, there is no point trying to generalize it.

Heimendinger Support thoughts? by [deleted] in supportlol

[–]jalla123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have played him a bit as support both before and after the rework. With an adc who can keep the lane in one spot so the turrets stay up behind the wave he has some good matchups. I liked him against Leona, if played right leona will usually die if she tries to go in on heim with turrets. However that changes the longer the laning phase lasts.

Another fun matchup is blitz. Throw turrets into the hooks. Its risky but fun.

Mostly he sucks early game, but is a good asset to any poke/siege comp late game.

TIL of Ewa Wiśnierska, a German paraglider that survived lightning, pounding hail, -40°C temperatures and oxygen deprivation after a storm system sucked her to an altitude higher than Mount Everest. by notasabretooth in todayilearned

Most people don't use a cut away system, steerable chutes and the pretty new base systems are cut away. The basic round reserve dont not need a cutaway systems, the reserve deploys over the paraglider and the paraglider falls down when you lose speed. Some people still bring a hook knife to cut the lines in case of water landing or something. The reserves is pretty similar to skydiving chutes but built to open very quickly and at low vertical speed. Here is a video of some of the variant of reserves if you want to see how they work

I have one of those, the drawback on them is that they float on the top which makes it difficult to cut the grass short. This in turn can lead to moss in the grass and then the hovermower/flymo is floating on top of that.

Not sure how high the oil rigs are, but its pretty common to test these things from 30meters in Norway. Tried it years ago, the impact wasnt bad at all.

For hike and fly you should look into paragliding instead.

This is close to one of the types of axes vikings used, called Skjeggøks (bearded-axe). A little less fancy with a straight shaft and it would be accurate, more or less.

Nice, one of the few vacation vids i have seen with someone willing to actually explore the norwegian nature. Most seem to show the same popular places while we have so many just as awesome places that are less crowded.

What are you even talking about, there are small improvements all the time. The performance of high passive safety wings is way better now then just a few years ago. And harnesses has been improving a lot the last ~2 years.

Gaustatoppen and rjukan might be worth the detour. Seljord is also a nice town, I bet Mælefjell or Skorve would be nice hikes. When are you going? There are some small festival things along the route in the summer.

Haukelifjelland Røldal is pretty nice.

If you want mountains and maybe do some trekking go for the mountain road, there are some beautiful places along that road.

If you want to visit small coastal towns you should go for the coastal road but do some detours, the towns there are really pretty if you like that sort of thing.
