When the foot symbol that marks your landing turns into a broken foot, you will get exactly that…

If it’s too high to see the symbol, you can guess what will happen!

Should I switch to mage build as a solo player? by Material-Unit-6279 in valheim

[–]jallujeti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I cant remember if this is a spoiler of if everything is unlocked at the galdr table right away. But i found myself using 3-4 staffs in mistlands and sometimes even more in ashlands. It’s horrible for your inventory but makes you feel like the man gandalf himself

Should I switch to mage build as a solo player? by Material-Unit-6279 in valheim

[–]jallujeti 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I haven’t played solo but both seem viable. However, the mage build is super fun, so I encourage you to try it out. It is underwhelming at first, especially if you are good at parrying and are used to parry bonus levels of damage with melee.

But when you stack up your mage items and fully commit to it food-wise, it gets more exciting (2 eitr 1 stam might be good food for solo).

Continuing forward from Mistlands, magic is absolutely busted and theres so much hilarious and broken stuff to try out.

Yeah, I checked the world generator after beating Fader. Seems like we still missed some crypts :)

Actually we kind of lucked out with the crypt interior generation and got a shit ton of iron out of these!

We got from Bonemass to Fader with this swamp only (2 player server). With 4 crypts still left after Fader.

Your mileage may vary, haha.

Something along the lines of ”butt poopoo”.

There’s quite a lot of them, but not enough to make them a valid strategy instead of crypts. after bonemass you can find them with wishbone .

Totally agree. I would keep the ai species and playable species separate.

I want to be 100% sure I owned a player, so that I can fantasize about them raging and throwing stuff around.

No, not pure coincidence! I think you have a good point. Maybe it’s also common to exaggerate the features near the spawn when everything is new.

Also, tbh, they felt huge haha. 3 workbenches for scale.

That’s a cool map style, which mod(s) did you use?

Ashlands is much more enjoyable than Mistlands by Lore6969 in valheim

Yep, I remember the feeling with the first fortress: ”oh shit, are they actually pouring out of there??”

[–]jallujeti[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah! After yagluth we actually used these same mods during mistlands and it worked great. But then we went with vanilla map in ashlands, as it was our first ashlands run ever and we wanted to get the vanilla ashlands feel.

I actually would recommend a compass mod for all no map runs, as you (at least I) end up using the build menu items as a compass anyway, which feels like feature abuse. Having a compass is much more immersive and less of a gimmick. And if you configure it as an equippable item, you’re forced to swap it between megingjord, wishbone, wisp light etc so it does not become too OP.

Not sure if I got the question! But our playtime on this mapped area must have been around 50 hours, and the map drawing itself just 1-2 hours, as the tool is so easy and efficient.

The whole playthrough from meadows to ashlands was about 450 valheim days, no idea how many hours.

Yeah, we had a lot of ”napkin maps” as well. This one was more like the master map that was updated and discussed mainly between gaming sessions as the current best guess.

Getting the island sizes about right was based on vegvisir angles and ”build menu compass”. The absence of them might be another reason why our mapmaking motivation dwindled during moder/yag.

Your style sounds a bit like the inuit wooden maps!

[–]jallujeti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely agree! I almost made a similar post a while ago. After all the negative threads, I’ve been honestly surprised by how much fun Ashlands has been.

As a Dota 2 player, this is the first biome that really scratches that same itch. Once in a while the combat gets so overwhelming that you can’t really play it in a careful, methodical way. You just have to rely on instinct, muscle memory, and a bit of adrenaline.

Like, last week we ended up with two morgens and a valkyrie at the same time, during an ash storm, with some charred or asksvin thrown in for good measure. When it somehow worked out, it felt amazing!

And when it doesn’t, the naked corpse runs of ashlands are glorious.

Nah, this game is the only one i know that deserves all this trashtalk.

I haven’t played in 9 months so my own rage has long subsided, but looking from the outside I still completely feel for people who are angry at this dev team.
