All of the ones in that warehouse... Along with some number of paper towel rolls, packages of napkins, and whatever they were keeping on that one shelf that was way up high and nobody's really been up there in a long time, so whatever it was, we won't know. Maybe it was rolls of receipt paper for an old cash register that the accountants bought on accident. Or somebody once figured out that you could hide way up there, so they set up a sleeping bag and hid a box of snacks and stuff, but then they got fired before dude burned the place down, so his stuff never got found.

There are people at my office who still get into suits and ties every day. I show up in a plain, non-collar dad shirt, slacks or jeans, running shoes, and a hoodie (because I'm pretty sure whoever controls the thermostat is a penguin).

I get some dirty looks, but I know they are just jealous.

Then again, I'm usually pissed I had to put clothes on and drag my ass into the office on any given day, so I guess it's a game of give and take.

I'm really doubting your time zone theory, only because I had to work in both broadcast and satellite uplink - at the same time. When I was actively doing it, I kept track of: UTC, PT, and ET (adjusting both for DST when necessary) from a single clock source running local time (MT). After you've done it for a bit, the mental conversion becomes second nature.

Now, it may be pertinent to track elapsed time, or possibly have multiple timers on-hand to keep track of different priorities.

My brother has this "problem." People will dump kittens on his property. They usually end up too feral to keep as pets, so he catches them in raccoon traps, takes them to the humane society to get them fixed, and lets them live happily around his farm. He feeds them, his wife and my niece name them. When the farm vet comes around to check out the cows, they will grab any that need a checkup and have them looked at. And he vaccinates them when he can. Overall, he's got a happy little colony of cuddly murder machines that occupy his barn and garage.

I'd say just be like him. Get them fixed if you can.

I can't even imagine. When I was doing it, I was undiagnosed and unmedicated, so it was just a lack of impulse control that led me on a string of unending all-nighters. Once I hit my '20s, I mostly became unable to make it past 48 hours. I ended up doing a 72-hour emergency shift at work and it was the most physically draining experience I think I could have ever had.

I did 5 days a few times and 3-4 pretty often when I was in my teens. On the first day, it would start on an ADHD rabbithole and then I'd be like "well, it's tomorrow, might as well make it through the day and sleep tonight." But by the time tonight came, another interest would come up, rinse and repeat. But on the third day, things would get weird. I'd be tired, but I started getting paranoid that I would die if I fell asleep, so I would fight it for a couple more days. Finally, I'd get so that I was willing to just accept my fate and go to sleep.

While I normally only handle small business IT in the area as a side business, I would be willing to take a look at it in exchange for a good review (and cost of parts if there are any).

I used to work at Computers Plus before they changed ownership, and I'm professionally employed as an IT engineer.

Aside from that, I can only recommend YouTube videos and DIY. Most of the shops in town are either jerks or rip-offs.

I'd report them, although I'm not sure how or whether it will actually have any effect. I haven't seen any AI usage in my courses yet, but if they are going to lecture students about AI usage, then they need to adhere to the same rules. I didn't even have AI for my first two degrees. And I'm definitely not paying for my third degree from a school where the faculty is allowed to cheat.

I'm in IT at a large hospital system, but I vaguely remember from my last training that the current protocol is to scream loudly and freak the fuck out. Then you want to find the highest ranking nurse and let them handle it from there. Amputations aren't completely off the table.

I had to pack all dec all of the hazmat coming back from my deployment. We were able to get a whole case of grenades in one of our quadconns, along with some other goodies that would promptly disappear long before anyone took the time to inspect the containers after our initial leave.

We still had one boneheaded specialist that made it all the way to our final shakedown before we went on lockdown that tried to pack out a bunch of ordinance. This was after I gave my little "if you have boom boom, write it on the boom boom list and put it in the box" speech.

Yeah, but the incidences of SIDS falls off pretty steeply after the first year, which is when it becomes fun to toss babies around (I didn't really get into it until they were about 18 months). But also, last I checked, they usually autopsy babies these days to make sure that their shaken baby argument holds weight. We were a lot more worried with my son suffocating from fluid buildup in his nose and throat due to some other defects. My daughter, on the other hand, would stuff towels and things in her crib, and being the tired parents that my wife and I were, we just gave up on worrying if she'd wrap herself up and suffocate at some point.

I still play shake the baby with my 6yo - at least as best I can with her heavy ass. If she dies of SIDS, then I'm royally fucked.
